Seems like it might perfectly apply to the AL East this year... a real/genuine division if ever there was one.

1. Pirates: Dylan Crews, OF, LSU I don’t see how you don’t take Dylan Crews. I know a lot of people think they’re going to cut a deal, but there hasn’t been a college bat like him in recent memory. He compares to Adley Rutschman from a performance standpoint. 2. Nationals: Paul Skenes, RHP, LSU It’s hard to pass on the college starter who has done what he’s done this year. 3. Tigers: Walker Jenkins, OF, South Brunswick HS (NC) I think they go with the high school player, with a similar offensive profile, over a guy like Wyatt Langford. Plus he’s a left-handed hitter. 4. Rangers: Wyatt Langford, OF, Florida Back to back years of performance in the SEC. It’s hard to pass on that. 5. Twins: Max Clark, OF, Franklin HS (Ind.) They’re the team that moved up big time in the lottery and they get to take advantage of it by taking the guy who’s been one of the top high school talents in this class for two years. 6. A’s: Jacob Wilson, SS, Grand Canyon I think the hitters will go before some of these pitchers go. 7. Reds: Jacob Gonzalez, SS, Mississippi In the past, they’ve taken the college or junior college performing bat with strong approaches. 8. Royals: Thomas White, LHP, Phillips Academy (Mass.) They took Frank Mozzicato and this guy is better. 9. Rockies: Chase Dollander, RHP, Tennessee I think this is an arm and they took Gabe Hughes last year. 10. Marlins: Arjun Nimmala, SS, Strawberry Crest HS (Fla.) He’s the youngest player with the most upside at this point in the Draft and there’s buzz about him going in the top 10. Jonathan Mayo MLB.com Things really looking up for Pirates Rangers Twins... Minn can pair with Brooks Lee

Or Robert? That's going to be ONE way for them to try to save face.
-
Okay... no baseball activities and limited to DH from the time the elbow issue was diagnosed. Harper is worth his entire contract to many Phils fans for last year alone... same with Wheeler.
-
Keuchel Lynn Grandal Abreu Hendriks/Kimbrel... is what it actually amounts to.
-
They need for Colas to at least be a 2-2.5 fWAR player to have any hope of competing in the future...as the monor league outfield cupboard is pretty much a barren wasteland.
-
Bryce Harper coming back from DL today after nearly half a year off... good timing.
-
Greg... shouldn't that same sentiment about not rebuilding have been applied to the Epstein Era Cubs, 2015-16 Royals, Astros, Braves, Pirates this year, Padres, Guardians, Twins, Orioles; teams that all pretty much went into complete teardown mode before achieving success? For example, Red Sox and Giants and Rockies tried to play it halfway and look where they are at now...

Phillies really looked dead in the water around 2019-20 when Haseley was yet another busted first rounder and Schwarber/Castellanos were just fever dreams on the horizon. Really felt like Aaron Nola was the only keeper at that bleak time. Lost decade wandering in the desert after their previous WS title.

Reinsjerk pretty much described every Sox free agent signing going back to Adam Dunn in 2011... Other than McCann Rodon Cueto Andrus, all Hahn's guys were/are significantly detrimental to team finance busts. Some will argue Grandal Robertson and Hendriks too...but none of those guys were providing 1 fWAR for $7.5-8 million (for each) contract dollar spent.

https://www.thegoodphight.com/2021/10/23/22731117/2021-report-card-adam-haseley Cohen: "Is it time for the White Sox to shake things up and promote multiple Knights’ players? I make the case for Victor Reyes, Zach Remillard and Sammy Peralta." Yes? PUKE!!!

Minnesota @ Cincy (Reds should be favored) @ KC ???? (who knows, lol?) Houston (uh, oh) Cleveland (uh, oh) Kansas City (first series where they might be favored) @ CLE @ DET LAA Detroit @NYY

ESPN+ Graded the Sox F - for April. 29th out of 30 teams.
caulfield12 replied to hankchifan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
29th is only off their current MLB Power Rankings by just one spot...seems pretty accurate. Royals at least have Witt Jr. and Brady Singer. Sal Perez, Pasquantino, Keller, a much better farm system and a lot more financial flexibility. Of course, FG will tell you that the White Sox offense is better than the Tigers/Royals, the Tigers' defense is the only positive number (White Sox -7.5 fWAR somehow) of the grouping...but that the White Sox win on the offensive side with 1.2 vs 0.5 (DET) vs. -0.3 (KCR), largely as a result of Sunday's game Royals by fWAR (0.9) have much better pitching than the White Sox (0.2) and Tigers (0.1), yet Hinch and the Tigers clearly the most competitive team of the 3. -
Robert benched mid game for not hustling and/or tweaked hammy
caulfield12 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Not sure even Hahn's dumb enough to trade him to the Dodgers, Padres, Yankees, etc. At least trade him to a small or mid market team in need of a superstar, like the A's/Reds/Pirates/Rockies/Brewers, etc. Also won't be trading him within the division. Haseley having one hot game is now going to result in even more of a national story if they leave Robert on the bench but not IL'ed for the start of the Twins' series. Haseley playing over Robert does nothing to increase Luis' trade value, ultimately...that's the only thing that really matters now in the big picture. -
2023: MLB news not AL Central-related
caulfield12 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
At least the Rays finally realized that creating the impression of a sellout by tarping 35-40% of the available seats has created a significant home field advantage. Jerry would never surrender that possibility of selling seats... although I guess they did chop off, what, 5000-7500 seats from the upper deck at one point? -

Whenever I see "Solution" in caps it brings me back to my 9th grade research paper and Hitler...which is a pretty morbid thought, but with all the comments about Reinsdorf dying it's not all that far off in terms of this whole outdated organization going completely off the rails. Maybe they need to be threatened with contraction like the early 2000's Twins to wake up?
-
The Royals resent this comment...they're not going to give up the battle for 3rd/4th with the Tigers and White Sox all that easily.
-
2001 White Sox seems the best/highest "upside" for this team at the moment.
-
Brooks B. quote?

Reinsdorf sadly has better instincts on player evaluation than Hahn...heck the George Costanza approach, but just do the opposite of that instinct, would be so much better here. Darts against a wall or CHATGPT4 work, too.

https://www.mlb.com/news/what-each-team-learned-in-april-2023 Even more depressing when one reads the writeups on the Guardians and Twins.. Also, is that Merkin firing a shot across the now at Hahn or KW with that article? Both? Seems very intentional to not strike a positive note at all (other than players returning, especially TA7 and Hendriks) after the miracle comeback on Sunday...
