They are setting up that Birmingham Barons championship run, getting ready for the 2025 marketing campaign. "Boys from B'Ham" or the like. 

 

I'm sure Schriffin will discuss how great this move is when the Sox go down 5-0 again tonight. 

He's a former 30th rounder who will turn 24 this year. Not a bad flyer for a guy who literally no one (including Texas) wanted to sign this off-season.

Why trade for them when you draft them.

Somehow I don't think good organization really trade treasure for trash.   I'm a skeptic until we see them in the majors.

That seems to be the trend of other small markets by signing cheap veterans for trade pieces.

decent chance his prorated amount was worth more than the guy they just acquired. We just saw some teams trade cash considerations for sox prospects, so this isn't that interesting to me or worth applauding.
