  1. Yoshida was a solid move...but the problem is that it's a win-now move, like Jansen as closer. They clearly decided to prioritize Devers over Bogaerts, with Xander already at age 30 (and likely being unable to sign BOTH). Jaren Duran's been on a tear. Btw, Yoshida now well into the 900's for OPS. Story has been a disastrous signing. Sale's struggles and contract extension are well-documented. Red Sox fans got spoiled and came to expect a competitive team year in and year out...not so easy in the AL East, with Baltimore finally rising from the ashes like a Phoenix. All that said, hard to expect much more than 17-14.
  2. Pretty sure the record without Anderson was something like 2-15 or 3-14 this most recent stretch. Obviously the recent ten game losing streak didn't help matters much. Engel makes sense as he usually came in defensively to preserve leads or in close and tight games...or used as a pinch runner late.
  3. Everything went extremely well with the performance, with the caveat that Mr. Lincoln was killed at the end...which pretty much overshadowed all of the positives of the evening combined.
  4. Boomer Humor...I can say that at 53 1/2, lol. You almost knew that Colome was going to get touched up. The shocker was the unheralded guys like Santos and Middleton holding up in high leverage situations.
  5. Probably reminiscing with Konerko about 2005 and that last out WS game ball...
  6. Well, 5 and 8 games back is a heckuva lot better than how things were looking trailing by 5 runs late on SUN.
  7. Hamilton and Colome....not recreating 2021 and 2020 magic, exactly.
  8. Tightrope act coming here in 3, 2, 1....
  9. OOops, forgot no Kelly availability. Lopez, too.
  10. Assuming no Lopez...who the heck will Grifol go to next? Graveman and Kelly seem pretty obvious. Bummer, just because his "stuff" always seems like it will pay off at SOME point in a positive way. Lambert has to be running on fumes even with the off day.
  11. Robert desperately needed that hit...was headed straight towards the Mendoza Line.
  12. Somehow, we're going to get a segue way to Home Alone. Benintendi led directly to three runs tonight....Correa robbery and then keeping Jimenez out of LF and off the field except the basepaths and batter's box.
  13. Not quite as bad as the Lynn post no-hitter implosion. Progress of sorts?
  14. Well, I've written only about 100 or so times about Bellinger in different ways...obviously he's one of the two White Sox players of the game so far, by virtue of saving a Correa homer (and implicitly saving Eloy, who somehow would have ended up injured on that type of jump.)
  15. Wasn't it all the way out in Cali? Business interests there...?
  16. Worst case with Bellinger, you're only out that $18.5 million or whatever. Best case is that you can trade him for a good return at the deadline or extend him on a team-friendly deal...although that's not going to be an easy one for the Sox to pull off.
  17. Moves for the sake of moves...we're doing SOMETHING at least. We care about our fans' feedback, etc.
  18. JR is happy at least that you're gambling on baseball... Andrew now in the 660s range for OPS but at least the one DRS tonight.
  19. Would like to see just one legit prospect at the AAA/AA level, like the Guardians and Twins have.
  20. Eloy would have killed himself there... somehow. Correa has been pretty woeful so far, nothing going his way this year.
  21. Except as a platoon DH and part time 1B. We already recognized long ago Sheets should never ever be in the outfield. And Haseley at the very least earned another start...he must feel discouraged. I guess it's because Sox PR is hyping Larry errr Gavin up yet again as the next Palka-esque hope of the franchise. Ridiculous. Not even 1987 Orioles fans would buy that one.
  22. How many of the players added today will even be on the 2024-25 roster? If you're not building at this point for the future... what the heck are you doing? It's like putting a Band Aid on a fractured femur. We already went through 2016-2019 and found or discovered who exactly...Narvaez and McCann? I mean... maybe they luck out with Gregory Santos this year?
  23. Thought it was going to be an Anheuser Busch influencer... probably not the wisest move unless decreasing sales by more than 27% was the goal.
