  1. Joe Cowley has to become involved in this game somehow.
  2. We can't ever have nice things, lol... The fact that Benintendi's a good enough outfielder to cover that ground actually leads to a hit, haha.
  3. Did Benintendi call off Robert? Benintendi peeled off and Robert stopped and simply let it drop. Should have been a relatively easy out.
  4. And Barrios pitched for the White Sox then around 1977 to 78? Died of a heart attack at 28. Tragic story.
  5. Yankees expected to clarify Judge health condition after the game...fyi.
  6. Everyday Cordero warming up for the Yankees...
  7. I think that one's more about the marginal improvement from terrible/horrific with Sheets to merely bad in RF with Frazier.
  8. At least NY radio/WFAN gives you Humphrey Bogart and Madonna stories as well as Giolito's mom ending up on Days of Our Lives. Btw, what happened with Beckham doing the game? Planned?
  9. As long as it's not Lopez. He feels like an automatic choice to give up hits or jeopardize the lead. Same with Bummer. Kelly/Graveman/Hendriks. (Heck, Santos or Graveman over those top two listed.)
  10. I wouldn't want to bet my life savings on either player ending over .700 OPS for double or nothing.
  11. Giolito ERA down to 3.75. Both Lucas and Jose Berrios have rebounded from being two of the worst qualified starters last year.
  12. And take the Lynn and Clevinger starts, too...they would run out of jerseys with him sweating so much in the summer heat/humidity.
  13. Pretty amazing that Kahnle's still around and back with the Yankees after all this time...
  14. We have all these 1B/DH types and the only one who can hit with an .800 OPS or even .900 is Burger of all players if you looked back at where the rebuild stood in 2020/21. Nobody would have ever predicted that in a million years. And yes, Eloy hit that clip for one half of a season. But therein lies the problem.
  15. 4 1/2 games back within sight... CLE up, Detroit down, Minnesota definitely losing to the Rays and falling back to 1 game over .500 yet again.
  16. Or shades of the Neal Cotts disaster at the Stadium when Buehrle wanted to pitch on 3 day's rest.
  17. Turned off/tuned out Beckham?
  18. Does anyone think GIolito would actually accept a $20 million QO to return to a team replacing Lynn and in all probability Clevinger as well...? Because it feels like the immediate trade return with the dearth of quality pitching on the trade market would be more important to retooling than the much lower odds of making the playoffs and and/or benefiting from a draft pick. I guess this becomes a real question if they can survive the month at roughly 4-6 games under .500.
  19. At least Giolito increases his trade value with a QS against the Yankees. Still a long ways to go...even without Judge.
  20. Moncada 690 Benintendi 680
  21. He has hit just a few homers. He's basically Mike Cameron.
  22. Pretty pathetic when Pitt and Cincinnati fans are far more excited for their ballclub...the Reds are going for it THIS year in a similar division to the AL Central, bringing up McLain and Elly de la Cruz. Their ownership actually listened to the fans and they are drawing much bigger crowds recently. JR and Hahn? Crickets. “Well where are you gonna go? Let’s start there. I mean, sell the team to who? That’s the other thing – you want to have this debate? If you want to look at what would you do with this team to have it be more profitable, make more money, compete more in the current economic system that this game exists – it would be to pick it up and move it somewhere else. And so be careful what you ask for […] we’re doing the best we can do with the resources that we have.”
  23. By that measure, Tatis is 7.8 fWAR/162, but the most dangerous contract in the history of the sport according to some. The problem is Moncada can't consistently stay on the field now and so much of that fWAR was driven by 2019's offense and 2021's defense. If I'm generous and extrapolate his averages for 2020 and 2023 out to 162, he's at basically 125 games played per season...which means the reality is he's much closer to a 2.6 player after six seasons. And most would take the under moving forward. At any rate, nobody would value Buxton on the open market today at 4.9 fWAR for 162, Mike Trout 9.3 and Acuna Jr. 6.0, for example, by that same metric. Acuna...maybe, but he's the best player in the game today in the absolute prime of his career and 100% over his knee injury now.
  24. They need Anderson with Lux out. They’re not going to move Freeman, Muncy or JD Martinez to accommodate him. Not sure there’s any team besides the Cuban National squad that would bring out his best.
