One thing I found rather incomprehensible, and maybe I've got my facts wrong, lending to the insensibility of it, was when there was a "cease fire" after Bush visited the Middle East a suicide bomber blew up a bus killing dozens. Israel retaliated and then Hamas claimed that Israel broke the cease fire and they'd retaliate. That was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard and the fact that reporters could relay these things without shaking their heads in disbelief is beyond me.

I've been at work all day. Actually been pretty productive. I also worked 4 hours yesterday. Trying to accumulate some PTO and I'm not going to waste it taking what is essentially just another Thursday to me off.

79 for me. Damn, I wonder how long I'd live if I exercised every once in a while!

I can't believe that Ben Grieve has become what he's become. One game against the Sox his rookie season he had like 3 doubles and each nearly went through the wall he hit them so hard. Just had me and my buddies saying wow. Too bad he's fallen off the map.

From June of 2000 to May of 2002 I moved from Orland Park to Moline to Plainfield to Washington. We've been here for 1.5 years and we've sworn that we're never moving again. If my house burns down we'll pitch a tent in the ashes and call it good enough!

Damn, I love The Onion! I haven't consistently read the paper version since my days in Champaign, but the online version does just as well. The anticipation for them to come out on Thursdays was amazing. One of the funniest articles was about Governor Edgar, "...said Sexecutioner Edgar, before beginning to masturbate furiously." This was accompanied by a picture of Edgar dressed in leather straps and a dog collar.

Seeing as I live near Peoria, I don't get to nearly as many as I used to. I get to maybe two a season. But really, it doesn't matter, since I'm not pissing and moaning that they don't spend enough money. But to answer your question, I never walk out of there feeling cheated. Like I posted earlier, they've been competitive for the most part, I see a MLB game for a decent price, I get to park within a 3 minute walk of the park, great food, good seats, and a fun time out. I don't see how it can be beat.

You talk as if the Detroit Tigers are playing in the Cell. Didn't this team win the Central three years ago? And they couldn't draw flies. The team has been competitive. Barring last season, they have certainly been more competitve than that team on the North Side, yet draw half as many people. Not every team makes the playoffs every year, yet more people show. The fact is Sox fans don't get out to the games. Referring to your movie analogy, a movie producer won't throw millions of dollars into a movie he knows people won't come out to watch. That's what the White Sox are. Winning hasn't brought the people out. Superstars haven't brought people out (see Albert Belle and Bartolo Colon). Doing their utmost to be fan friendly hasn't brought people out (see all the kids clinics, tailgaiting, and promotions). And trying to respond to complaints to the park with renovations hasn't brought people out. Upping the payroll has been shown to be a poor investment. Well, that's not entirely true. Marginally more people showed up last year and the payroll has been increased. More and more people come out and you'll see your payroll reach great heights. Until then though, b****ing about the payroll, based on past history, is living in wonderland.

Perhaps he'll fit into Rubarb's costume.

I hear Lerrin LaGrow is playing long toss again. Perhaps KW can bring him back as well.

Whether Saddam had any actual connection with the insurgency is irrelevant. His existence out there was a key reason for it. The same thing is the reason why when Ottoman sultans ascended to the throne they would murder any possible alternative heirs, even if the heir was an infant. The existence of an alternate heir would always lead to people plotting and scheming to replace the Sultan with the alternate. With Saddam removed, that is one alternate to the Iraqi democracy removed.

The problem with torture, besides being barbarous, is that you never know what information you're getting. The tactics worked this time and for that we should be grateful. But what if the informant in question truly didn't know anything? s***, threaten to shoot a guy in the head and he'd admit to assassinating Kennedy. It worked out this time, but in general restrictions on torture are in place for good reason.

Damn, IlliniBob72 gets neary a mention? I've got to start being angrier or funnier. I've got a joke for you asswipes. Two guys are exploring the jungles of Africa when they are captured by a native tribe. The Chieftain says to the first guy "You have two choices. Death or booga-booga". The guy says "Well, anything is better than death. I'll take booga-booga". Chieftain signals and a 400 pound behemoth comes out and beats, kicks, breaks, and sodomizes the man, leaving him a bloody mess barely alive. The Chieftain then asks the second guy "Death or booga-booga?" The second guy says "Christ, I don't want that to happen to me! I'll take death instead!" Chieftain nods his head and says, "Death by booga-booga it is". How's that, buttmunches?

I'm not sure Mizzou will have a basketball program left when the Illinois game rolls around. Talk about a program in turmoil!!! -
Am I the only one that understands why a team that averages 19,000 per game would have a limited budget? I really get a kick from people who b**** and moan about the White Sox not spending money, when they are consistently in the lower third in attendance. The fact is that over the past three seasons the Sox have been ranked higher in payroll than in attendance. Year Attendance rank Payroll rank 2003 21st 17th 2002 23rd 18th 2001 26th 16th So, what is there to b**** about? Maybe I should call some people making $30,000/year and demand to know why they don't buy a house going for $300,000.

I admit to not knowing much about how the Canadians fit into the puzzle, but the overall concept makes sense to me. The allies who helped to depose Saddam should keep the rebuilding dollars in their economies. The French and German governments did their utmost to put up roadblocks and should be frozen out of the rebuilding.
-
Well, based on what I pay in taxes and the percentage of the Federal Budget being spent in Iraq, they are spending about 97 of my tax dollars in Iraq. For that, I don't care what a British or Spanish or Aussie contractor charges, as long as my dollars aren't converted to marks or francs.
-
The rebuilding is being funded by the U.S. It should make sense that the contractors being hired should come from the U.S. and her allies who helped in the war. The fact that there is any objection to this, while not a surprise to me, goes against reason. As for concerns about the next time we need these "allies'" help, let us remember that they need the U.S. much more than the U.S. needs them.

Other than "Oh s***!", there's not much more to say about it.

Maybe he didnt feel it needed a proclamation.

One thing you gotta love about Soxtalk...the ability to get enraged over the smallest of deals. First the Sox pick up Schoeneweis for a reliever that hadn't pitched in a month and some people were about to slash their own throats over it, and now a career minor leaguer for a decent SS and some want to burn The Cell to the ground. Not every deal can be for ARod or Bonds. Can't turn chickens*** into chicken salad either.

It really is amazing how stupid people can be. What I found really mindboggling was at the end of the article. The word "gay" is so bad the school official couldn't say it over the phone? Good Lord. Our son was disciplined by his day care provider when he was 5 for calling his penis a "penis". Yes, he used the legitimate word and got in trouble. He was told that it's called a "pee-pee" We told him that penis is fine and isn't something that needs a cutsie name.

I would love to see the United States independent of foreign oil. If that can be done through new American oil sources, hydrogen power, solar power, or electric, fine by me. Our dependence on mideast oil will always be a thorn in America's side. I would like nothing more than to have America be able to wash our hands of the Mideast and never look back.

I'm not going to get into numbers with you because, to be honest, I haven't seen her get on a scale. My original point goes towards these questions... 1. Is she quite a bit bigger than she used to be? Yes. 2. Given the picture we've seen here, if legit, would you recommend to her that she dress differently? I'd say yes. Of course, this is America and she can dress as she likes, but if I were her manager I'd tell her to cover up some.
-
I think the key words are "a year ago". After seeing her last night and some other pictures, she is well over 100 lbs. I feel that for PC purposes I must repeat that she's not all that fat. That being said, when you make your fortune on dressing like a sexy slut, when you develop a beer belly, it's going to be commented on. I don't consider myself a fatty, but if I walked around on TV in a speedo, you might feel differently.
