  1. The fact that this guy used to work in our State Department is truly frightening. Perhaps you could borrow his kneepads.
  2. Apu, you are living in a dream world. First of all, the war with Iraq was not about oil, per se. A small percentage of the USA's oil came from Iraq, and if the war was indeed about oil, why am I still paying $1.60 a gallon? And I get a laugh from all the moaning about Haliburton and Bechtel. It seems to have never occured to the people that b**** and moan about them that these two companies are the foremost experts in doing what they do. To not hire these people would be irresponsible and truly political. You say according to Bush Iraq had WMDs. Well ,you know what? Iraq had WMDs according to Bill Clinton and the UN as well. Tell me something, Apu. Does someone tell a lie without anyway of not being caught??? Does someone lie and have no plan thought out as to how to get away with it??? That's the thing I can't understand. Why on earth would the administration decide to tell a bold-faced lie about Iraq having WMDs, knowing full well that once we got in there there would be none?... Bush: Let's invade Iraq. Rumsfeld: Why? Bush: 'Cuz I feel like it. But we'll tell the people they have WMDs. Rumsfeld: But they don't. Bush: Eh, we'll worry about that later. Yeah, I bet that's what happened. If he were knowingly lying about it, don't you think there would've been some cover-up or planting of big evidence? Instead, journalists and cameramen document everything and no WMDs. Jesus, if this is the case, I think Bush should be impeached for not being smart enough to lie better!!! And your talk about recruits joining Al-Qaeda is really sickening and typical. God forbid we do anything to upset the terrorists and their flunkies. Tell us, Apu, what would you have done differently, other than slipping on some kneepads. I have no doubts that you were against Afghanistan too. What was won in Korea? Well, if you look at the quality of life in North Korea vs. that in South Korea, the answer should be obvious. And your crying about fighting for oil is really very funny. Wars have been fought for national interests throughout history, both financial, political, and security interests. Wars have been fought over trade, the Suez Canal, riches in colonies, etc. Hell, Britain even fought a war with China over the opium trade! To fight a war over the protection of the lifeblood of our economy (Gulf War I) is perfectly understandable. In fact, not to do so would be irresponsible. I can't tell if you are a Democrat, an America hater, or just a bleeding heart pacifist. Can't be strict Democrat because most of the wars you cry about were under Democrat presidents; WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam. You also want it both ways. You cry about American support for brutal dictators in Chile, but then cry about America taking out a brutal dictator in Iraq. Well, which is it? Oh that's right, you want America to do nothing. At least then, America would have no responsibility for what happens. I got it!!! You're an isolationist. That's all I can come up with.
  3. Hell, why stop there? Why just children? I would love to quit my job and have Uncle Sam support me and mine. Why just people in America? Can't we fully fund everyone in the western hemisphere? Unrealistic? Well, so is your request. You claim to be talking about real life and then want fantasy governmental support programs. Let's not make outrageous demands and then when they are unmet say that people aren't in earnest about their beliefs.
  4. You're right, I believe they are, but what sort of condition does the mother have that would cause her to die unless the baby's head is crushed? That is my point. There have certainly been babies born in the second trimester that have lived. I would venture to say that sucking the brains out of a crushed skull removes any hope for baby's survival.
  5. I was just re-reading this post again and still find myself shaking my head in disbelief. Because I don't believe in killing unborn children, or in the case of partial birth abortion, children that have been born for all intents and purposes, I'm a hypocrite for not believing that the government should fit the bill for every single living child? I'm against killing puppies too. Am I allowed to feel that way even though I don't think Uncle Sam should pay for my dog's vet bills? There are so many governmental programs to help out people with children, for you to say such a thing is absolutely mindboggling. Public schools are free, paid for by tax dollars. Programs such as WIC help poor families feed their children. Medicaid helps the poor with their medical bills. Welfare also is a government program that helps the poor, but surely you've heard of that one. And everyone gets help from the government for their children...it's called the Child Tax Credit. No, it certainly won't make having children cost-free, but why should having children mean that you as a parent don't have to support that child? That's just insane. Just as you feel I'm a hypocrite then, I can't help but be amazed at liberals who will chain themselves to a tree to keep it from being cut down, or will protest the execution of a mass murderer, but see no problem with murdering a new born baby. If that baby were a seal or a spotted owl he or she would have more of a chance of gaining the support of these "pro-choice" people
  6. Frank has about 4 months to have his feelings heal, and they will. This team quit last season and I have no problem with Ozzie calling out Frank or anyone else. Maybe a little bit of public questioning is what this team needs. It's like the Seinfeld episode where George decided to do the opposite of what his instincts tell him. Do the opposite of what Jerry Manuel did, as that must therefore be right.
  7. I'm sorry, but I can't take this post seriously. There is absolutely no reason that can justify crushing an infant's head and sucking out it's brains. None. And "Partial Birth Abortion" is exactly what it is. If anything, the term is too sterile. Infant Head Crushing would be more accurate. The only reason for not delivering the baby entirely out of the mother is that once that happens it is no longer "abortion" but infanticide. A friend of mine needed to have her son induced in the second trimester due to extremely high blood pressure. Rather than crush the baby's head, they actually saved him and he is now over a year old and living a happy life. If the baby cannot be saved, so be it, but no need to murder the poor child. Bush signed this law for help in the polls? Please. The nation has wanted this law for years and years and has been in the works for a long time. I suppose he should not do the right thing because he is hurting in the polls and it may look like politics? No.
  8. I may be naive here, but Ozzie's season hadn't ended yet, so supposedly hadn't been contacted yet and therefore not asked to keep his yap shut. Besides, I'm sure if Gaston had talked about the job, he would have said that if he didn't get the job it was because the media was racist against him.
  9. Sorry, but I must disagree. Illinois football sucks...Northwestern merely stinks.
  10. I hear his kids are more progressive and will get the TV situation fixed.
  11. Yeah, some Central games, and Limestone will be coming to Washington for Mid-Illini games. Have to catch D'aaron Williams put up 40 on weak M-I competition.
  12. The only player that hasn't said something stupid in his career is a player that doesn't talk to the press.
  13. I like the one where Maggie finds Mr. Burns' bear Bobo. Mr. Burns: Defeated by an infant. What can be more humiliating? Photographer pops up behind fence: What a scoop!
  14. This is terrible, lets hire the cheapest minority we can find contest. Guillen is not respected and has NEVER been even considered by any other team. What is this, lets hire a Florida coach after they win the world series pipeline (ie Jm now OG). This is simple economics OG will you work for s***, yes you are hired. Guillen is a terrible hire for this particular team. Typical White Sox cheap, cheap and cheapest, there is NO buzz about this anywhere from Sox fans we deserve alot better. Welcome to dissapointment 101. Well, Casey Stengell and Connie Mack aren't available. Personally, I like the hire. It is definitely an upgrade and gives the Sox what they were lacking in a manager. And, like it or not, economics is a part of the picture. Would I rather give money to a manager or a #2 pitcher? The pitcher, everytime.
  15. 50% Irish, 25% Lithuanian, 25% Croatian.
  16. I remember before people saying that the fact that Ozzie went public with his desire for the job and his allegiance to the Sox turned them off. That's fine, but I feel just the opposite. I absolutely love the fact that he wanted this job and feels that way about the Sox. Sure, it may have been b.s. to get the job, but I believe he feels that way. That is what the Sox need, someone who absolutely wants to be on the South Side. But take that for what it's worth...I also felt this way when the Blackhawks hired Dirk Graham.
  17. I take full responsibility. It is obvious that my 2 posts per day isn't enough to satisfy the hunger that exists out there for my insights and feelings. I apologize for not making this site interesting enough to visit. I will do my utmost to post more often, thereby giving people a reason to login. This I pledge.
  18. I doubt these two bands are very influential, but they've struck me as two lesser known bands that I think are really great. The Connells and The Smoking Popes. The Connells had a little bit more success, being staples for any college radio station worth anything. One Simple Word is their best album, IMO. Smoking Popes just plain rock and the fact that they never achieved greater success is a crime.
  19. That was really f***ed up. If I didn't know better, I would have sworn it was from a Naked Gun movie. The victim is incredibly lucky to still be alive.
  20. Would it be at all possible that KW is floating that trade out there to get fans' reaction? Would he be that smart or sly?
  21. I would deal Maggs for Soriano in a heartbeat. I don't know Soriano's contract status, but he's got to be cheaper than Ordonez, younger, and plays a need position for the Sox. If IlliniBob is the GM, au revoir Magglio.
  22. How could I forget The Sixth Sense? That is #3A on my list.
  23. The Velvet Underground. Lou Reed and company helped inspire many bands.
