I wouldn't trade Viciedo straight up for Bailey. I think the Reds would jump for joy if they could get Viciedo and Quentin for Bailey.

QUOTE (ozzfest @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 08:26 PM) Is it possible he will be our starting first basemen? Or is he going to be DH? DH most likely if we re-sign Konerko. Could be 1b if we miss out on a first baseman.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 08:09 PM) It may not kill the Sox, but it's not a smart business or baseball decision. An extra $25 million in guaranteed money to a 35 yr old, high injury risk player is just a bad move all around (I would be saying this with or without Dunn). Basically, both players will give you equivalent amount of worth, especially after defense is taken into account, plus you get a draft pick from Konerko signing elsewhere, plus you don't have the risk of giving a 35 yr old player that kind of money, plus DLee is a standup individual and a good teammate from many accounts. You may be right, but I'm not the Owner so it's not my money. I'm just a fan. I'd rather see Konerko in our jersey. Just get the feeling that with Dunn here now that JR will spend to keep PK. I have no say on how or why the sox spend the money so I'll just leave it at that.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) If you're talking 1 yr contracts, than your difference is right. But no, you're talking about 35 yr old, injury susceptible players with a difference of probably $25 million or more in guaranteed money. So yes, I do find it ridiculous considering what could be done with that money. Konerko has been great for this organization, but if letting him sign elsewhere means a much greater chance at getting back to the WS, I'm all for it. No player to me is above the team. I agree here but I don't think a 2 year deal will kill the Sox and I believe Reinsdorf may be willing to pick up the difference if it's for PK. He seems to be the kind of guy that will spend if it means keeping around a loyal, and still productive employee.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) Well that's a ridiculous business decision and JR should know that. You really think it would be a ridiculous business decision if Kenny came up to Jerry and said we can sign Derek Lee or if you are willing to give me 5 or 6 extra million we can have Konerko, and JR decided to pay the extra for Konerko who has been a model employee for the last ten years?

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) Give me Lee for 1 yr/7mill deal, than use the savings with Putz and other bullpen guys. Lee just makes so much sense, he's one of the top defenders at 1b, will come at a decent price, and will probably match or be right around what Konerko will give you without the hefty contract. Even if JR told KW to go for it, and gave him a $115 mill payroll, signing Dunn and Konerko still leaves too much left to be done with the remaining cash. Lee is a much better investment. Whats to say he doesn't say I'll give you a $115 million payroll but only for Konerko. I think that is more likely. JR loves Paulie.

Screw DLee, I don't pay the players directly so give me Paulie. If they signed Lee over Paulie to save some bucks I'd be upset. Pay the Man.

You're not alone, I f***ing despise UNI. Nothing like the hate I have for Drake but still hate them. -

I don't know what it is about the bulls that always bring out the best in the magic. Every time I watch them play any other team they look very average.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 05:29 PM) Heading to Redbird arena soon to watch the redbirds get destroyed by UNLV Go Birds! I remember when Cincy came in a few years ago, that place was rocking. ISU absolutely destroyed them. One of the best times I had in that arena. -
QUOTE (Soxy @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) No, although I do enjoy the tv show Psych. You know that's right.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 10:50 AM) LOL, yeah, 88 wins was a debacle. Some of you guys, if you were fans of most other teams, would have commited Hari Kari by now. This stuff cracks me up. You would think we won 45 games while playing 9 55 year old men every game the way people talk about this team.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 07:21 PM) It is speculated that Berman could sign somewhere for $7 million for one year. He was a mess for the Yankees, but I wonder if that'd be a good deal. Took me forever to figure out you meant Berkman.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 07:21 PM) Havent seen that happen even once. The Noles play ridiculous D. Hopefully this gives the Bucks a taste of what its going to be like soon enough in conference against teams like ILL. Just started watching for it and Sullinger for ohio state has been in the lane for over five seconds on two of the last 5 possessions. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 12:28 AM) Easily. As a matter of fact, he might just be the best offensive pg in the game right now, problem is the other side of the ball. No doubt. He is second in the league in scoring and is also giving out 8 assists a night.

I think Rose has elevated his game this season to be in the conversation with Paul and Williams. Just sayin.

Who has Oregon beaten? They beat Stanford and Stanford has beaten no one relevant. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) Nevada has the # 4 offense in the nation. I'd say they're pretty good. Secondly, you are absolutely right about New Mexico State and Idaho on their schedule, and Boise pays for this by basically having to go undefeated to have any chance at a BCS bowl. No one is arguing that Boise deserves to be there with the one loss. Only that had they gone undefeated, they would have an argument. You do have to recognize that Boise tries to put together the strongest non-conference schedule possible, but most BCS schools will not schedule them. Third, what is Boise's record against BCS teams since 2005? They went 0-3 in the 2005 season and have been 6-1 since then. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) But they lost to Nevada, didn't they? How do we know Nevada is any good? The only BCS team they played all year was a 5-6 Cal team, and they lost to a 9-3 WAC team (Hawaii). You just don't know because there are far too many teams like New Mexico State and Idaho on their roster that BCS schools schedule when they want a guaranteed rout. I'll put it this way: since 2002 (as far back as ESPN goes), Boise State is 8-7 against BCS teams. They're 96-5 against everyone else over that span. Ok, so I know that a BCS team is obviously going to usually be better. I just feel that this Boise team is real solid and can compete in a BCS schedule. It's unfortunate that neither of us will ever know how they would fare in a BCS conference with this team. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 08:32 PM) You dont know that, you have absolutely no proof how Boise would play in the same schedule as Iowa. When is the last time Iowa lost to a non-BCS team? You think Boise is the equivalent of a strong BCS program? Try and find the last time Iowa lost to a non-BCS program. I don't know when they lost to a non-BCS team or what non-BCS programs they play. Apparently 2007. Yes. I think they are at the same level as 1 or 2 loss BCS programs. I also believe Nevada has at least as good an offense as Michigan and a much stronger D. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) Id say that if Iowa and Boise State played 100 times, I would expect Iowa to win 60% of the games. You are out of your mind. Iowa lost to Minnesota, Northwestern, and an Arizona team that has beaten absolutely no one. Boise would not lose to any of those teams this year. -

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) I agree with Va Tech being better but dont think Nevada is. I would say Boise/Iowa prob be a coinflip. I'd say Boise wins at least 7 out of 10 against Iowa. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 07:36 PM) I don't disagree with that. They are still better than pretty much every team Boise State and/or TCU played. I'm pretty sure Va tech and Nevada are both better teams than Iowa. Iowa lost to Minnesota and Northwestern. Sorry, but they just aren't very good this year.
