im another of the baby boomer generation..as you guys know im not an eminem fan or a fan of rap..just not my style..i grew up on rock and R and B but my favorite bands always had a big jazz influence in their music (earth wind and fire, chicago , steely dan , supertramp , stones from the early 70's)..i like bands that incorporate more than just 2 guitars , a bass and drums...in rap you dont even have that..basically they lay down bass tracks and rap over it... i liken rap music to punk rock...it is more of a social statement first then musically correct later...i was big into punk for about a year (sex pistols - if you can believe that!!) because basically the late 70's were boring and punk music filled a viod i guess..i like p-funk too (brothers johnson, bands like that)..p-funk wasnt a difficult form of music to master either... is rap here to stay??..well its lasted longer than i thought it would..longer then punk or p-funk..so who knows..but i gotta think that because its very limited in its pure form (drums and a bass) that eventually it will either die out all together or evolve into a more mainstream sound... only time will tell:metal

i wonder if the fact that the league minimum is now above thomas' deffered status could make that part of the contract , or the whole thing voidable??

whatever this guy has to say im not interested in hearing....he might have problems but so do all of us..and 99.9% of the people in this country with problems do not take it out on a 1st base coach..screw him...:puke

you could play booker at QB and be successful...very successful..but you have to design an offense thats contrarian in nature to take advantage of his unique skills... the biggest hurdle to overcome would be the coaches...coaches never go out on a limb anymore and do something different because if they do and it fails then they have to take the blame (the last coach to do it was buddy ryan with the 46 defense - changed the way the game was played - what happend to him???...he got fired - and never rehired)...if a coach runs the same offense as the superbowl champs he can always say "hey such and such team won the superbowl with this offense...therefore it must be the players and not me"..so even if he gets fired someone else will hire him...i just look at micheal vick...no coach in his right mind would run michael vick in a drop back offense..you got a guy who is playing QB that could be the best running back in all of football and your trying to make a drop back passer???...thats retarded...but dan reeves does it because if he came out in something like a double or single wing he opens himself up to being judged as a coach...and if it doesnt work..dan never gets another job..he would be called senial... if i coached the bears right now id line booker up as a direct snap TB...roll him on alot of run/pass options...line up thomas right next to him in the backfield and direct snap to thomas too (you can also run numerous fakes between the 4 backs..its an awesome offense)...booker could lead block on any play along with damion shelton (ill get to his position later)between the tackles so you get an extra lead blocker for thomas at the point of attack because you dont have a real QB (who just hands off and runs a fake the opposite way that no one ever pays attention too)...use dez white as a wing or flanker and those reverses they like to run to dez would be much more effective out of this formation..then you line damion shelton up behind the gaurd as a blocking back and he would have much better angles to kick out on blocks... another advantage to this offense would be you can switch to any shotgun passing offense with few player substitutions...so it also means defense would have a hard time knowing when to go to nickel and dime packages...if they line up in a dime package you shift back to a tight formation and run the ball...against 4 down lineman and one or two linebackers......if they stay in their base you split out 4 recievers and even marty booker would complete 70% of his passes when he has a wr/lb mismatch... i'd bet my life that the bears would score more points this way then what they are doing now...best thing about this..while opposing defenses get 3 maybe 4 days to practice against this...the bears offense practice it week after week getting better...contrarian in nature... give it 5 years and some coach will finally have the balls to line a donavan mcnabb or michael vick in a formation like this..and score 30 points a game

Boner move in the making....M's release Abbott
baggio202 replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
i was gonna post something similiar..its like JR and KW have us all programmed now not to even think about a front line pitcher...reminds of the "joe six pack" syndrome with the last presidential administration -
i thought i heard on the news about a month ago ol ronnie was dead???
-
thats a great way for a major league GM (and boy do i use that term loosely with this idiot) to behave..."hey lets just roll the dice and see what happens"..while the GM he is dealing with is studying every move he wants to make from every angle to make sure its the best for his team...gee, who is gonna win that deal?? everytime KW speaks i wanna :puke
-
id rasther keep lee then take on oleary..he has had alot of personal problems in the past that carried over onto the field..thats what got him run out of boston HSC is right..we aint getting colon..not now ..not never... it real easy to figure out the next KW move...if it would help the team but increase payroll ever so slightly...forget it..it aint happening.. what free agebt picthers are we getting??...ummm how about guys CNNSI says will work for food...jeff d'amico and jaimey wright:puke

end of april last year when ichiro came to town the sox drew 16,253 - 12, 735 - 12,891...i guess you could blame part of the low turn out on the weather one the first two games which was rainy but game 3 it was 55* and sunny...doesnt get much better then that in chicago in april....still less than 13k turned out....and the asian community here in chicago only had 5 chances to see their hero play in chi last year...you think they will turn out to the tune of 500k to see shinjo or matsui when they have 81 chances to see him?? when ichiro came to town in his rookie year yes there was a significant attendance spike...but like all novelities once the newness wears off (and it does quickly) then your stuck with a novelty that cant draw....the asians in america are not big followers of MLB..they are followers of anything japenese...thats why they come out...once they have "done their duty" the majority wont be back..ala ichiro.. so if we want matsui or shinjo we get him because he/they are good players who could help our team...not as a novelity with that said..matsui yes...shinjo no
-
does that mean hot dogs and brats would give way to sushi??? btw ..no asian is gonna come to comiskey just to see shinjo...unless his family lives here
-
if shinjo is so good why did the giants release him?? he is a 250 hitter with an obp of just over 300 and an ops under 700..he has hit only 19 homers in 811 plate appearences...plus he will be 31 this year...the perfect KW pick up!!!...
-
the only problem with this move is then we have valentin /clayton all over again...as long as we have jose neffi isnt an option imo...which probably means we will sign him sometime this week:o

that injury to columbo looked real bad...you know its bad when his teammates are down on one knee looking like they wanna throw up...has anyone said if his injury is career threatening???

how to convert a pacifist 1. go out and find a pacifist protesting our governemnt....shouldnt be hard. 2. ask him about his beliefs and listen for the standard answer that peace will always win out over violence 3. then , hit said pacifist in the face.. 4. when he gets up all mad remind him that he is a pacifist and therefore shouldnt fight back 5. when he agrees with you hit him in the face ever harder this time 5. repeat steps 2 through 5 until he finally realizes that sometimes you have to fight back
