  1. Why would they want a starting outfielder? Anderson in LF is pretty good defensively and their DH is filled...his bat is too valuable to their offense to not have him in. Erstad is a gold glover in CF...why would they move him? And Salmon is pretty good too...he has a great arm...he's getting older, so he may be slowing down, but he's their best all around RFer right now...that is a move I don't understand....another starter I can understand, somewhat...they got Washburn, Ortiz, Appier, and Lackey and then they have Mickey Callaway and Scott Schowenweis as their other starters, though Schow looks to be staying in the bullpen...don't they have faith in their minor league starters? If that's the case, look for Callaway to be moved in a deal somewhere...that'd be my guess anyways. DH is filled ??..did they re - sign fullmer???
  2. The second amendment has been misinterpreted for decades, more like centuries. It states that: A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. I'm sorry, but the Montana Freemen and the NRA are not f***ing militias. Also, read up on US v Miller where the US Supreme Court ruled AGAINST Miller's right to bear arms. That case should be more than enough evidence to institute gun control, but of course we need our guns, so we can...um. Shoot them at the range. Yeah, sure. It's just so asinine how anyone can defend the 2nd amendment. The Supreme Court ruled against Miller's right to bear a certain kind of sawed off shotgun, not strictly to bear arms. The Court also said in its ruling and I quote directly "The signification attributed to the term Militia appears from the debates of the convention, the history and legislation of Colonies and States, and the writings of approved commentators. These show plainly enough that the Militia comprised ALL males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense." Capitals in "all" are mine, otherwise this is word for word in the decree. good catch on the definition of the term "militia"..what the gun control nuts refuse to accept is that the term militia at that time meant any american willing to rise up against any enemy...foriegn or domestic...it was a safegaurd put in the constitution to help not only protect the nation from foreign enemies but also in case someday our governemnt failed to follow the constitution and decided to run amuck over the american people... has anyone studied what has gone on in australia since they came and took everyone's guns away??...robbery has increased over 50%..and violent crimes such as rape and assault have also significantly increased..i havent heard much about it lately but i know there was a huge uprising from citizens there to have their gun rights restored... sometimes people just cant leave well enough alone
  3. my favorite carlos lee base running blunder...he's on 2nd and valentin is on 3rd....one out and a ground ball hit to 3rd...valentin breaks for the plate and the 3rd baseman throws him out at home on a close play...and there is dumbass caballo...still standing on 2nd base...moron
  4. Kenny had nothing to do with this, this deal was done by JR and Arn Tellum,no one else was involved. guess that explains why i thought it was out of character for williams then;)
  5. not too much because i thought it was rediculous to envoke the DSC in the first place and risk losing thomas but after frank didnt find a buyer KW could have brought him back at 300k if he wanted to..remember what he did to buehrle??...but this seems like a fair deal.. though we dont know exactly what happened..thomas could have gotten a good offer from the dodgers or somebody and used it as leverage to get KW to give him a descent contract since frank did sign before the deadline was up...i dont know if we will ever know but if KW did offer this contract without his hand being forced..maybe it means he might be learning how to treat his players better...atleast i can hope
  6. so if franks hits like 230 then the he can accept the lessor of the two numbers and the sox have to agree...if frank hits 330 then he can reject it and the sox can accpet it for a couple million more and frank has to take...if it falls somewhere in the middle..both parties could agree its time to part ways or redue the contract again...is that the jist of it???...interesting..frank sure goes for these complicated contracts huh???
  7. true..and glover is one of KW's boys so he has that going for him...or against him depending on his view of the sox:cool:
  8. Glover is a stud. He ain't going anywhere. I love him in the pen. thats why glover wont be here...if in his first yer of arbitration he is coming off a good season (next year??) he will be shown the door...we arnt gonna play him 3-5 million to pitch middle relief..why do you think we are on this run of drafting relievers???
  9. the question was what do you think we need to do to win the world series..not to just compete or win our division...even if this teams does come together and win the division...it has 3 and out written all over it...if you just want to win the worst division in baseball - by far and then just roll the dice in the playoffs..then the sox as is have a chance at that
  10. any thoughts on trying to coax drew hensen out of baseball and have him sign with the bears...i was talking tocwsox at the mlb boards about him...he said hensen was the best college QB her ever saw and couldnt understand why he chose baseball???....could he be an option
  11. this one is just for you:D dont worry ..if yan is anything special the wheeler dealer will throw him in in his next deal to sweeten the pot
  12. He's a lot better then Mark Johson, both at the plate and when it comes to handling pitchers This would be a very solid move, imo. I've only heard good things about him. Plus, for all those Cub haters here, don't you remember he went after those Cub fans I'd love having a guy like him behind Olivo. id have loved having him behind olivo too...about 10 years ago...
  13. i think this will be the year thomas ensures himself a spot in cooperstown
  14. Try and not hold your laughter. We've seen Keith implode after pitching one measly inning. foulke has average about 86 ip the past 4 years in the bullpen...i would venture to guess that would put him in the top 5 in all of baseball for pitchers who were just relievers...
  15. moyer wants 3 years / 27 million...i dont think our 1 year 2 million dollar offer will be acceptable to him:D we need what we have needed since KW took the job..left handed power...would be nice to trade CLEE for a starung pitcher then go out and get cliff floyd.. hahahaha..i must be on some good drugs to think that might actually happen:o
  16. like mine list of what we need to do now to win this will never happen...way too many ifs..and chances are the wheeler dealer will move alot of those guys in the next 3 years...look how many he has moved so far... good plan though..if your not going to do what i proposed to win now you build from with in...but the wheeler dealer will do neither..he'll just keep rolling the dice
  17. i think a lot needs to be done.. first off moyer's agent said they are seeking a 3 year 27 million dollar deal so count him out of your plans..and i g otta say..even if we had the cash a 3 year deal for a 40 year old pitcher is not smart... i think for the sox to win it all (i know we wont do these things but this is what i think needs to be done) 2 pitchers...greg maddux and omar daal...maddux gives us vetran leadership and daal is another lefty we need who i think is on the verge of really breaking out a rotation of maddux, buehrle , daal , garland and wright looks good to me one arm to the bullpen , mike stanton...that would give us 3 lefties in the pen..i think we need 3 solid lefties to compete with minnesota who will be our only challenger in the central..lot of lefties in their line up...also the yanks , anaheim and oakland all are either lefty dominted or have a balanced attack.. catcher..I-ROD...have him catch 100 games and olivo the rest...olivo learns from one of the all time greats im okay with an infield of konerko , jimenez , valentin , crede....rey sanchez wouldnt be a bad pick up as insurance at 2nd base outfield , i trade carlos lee , and sign cliff floyd to play lf...we have no real left handed power in our line up..our projexted line up has switch hitting jimenez and valentin at 1 and 2 ..and 3 through 9 are all right handed...we could never win anything tilting that much to the right..unless borchard breaks camp as a starter what would this coast??...figure 15 mil for maddux , 5 mil for daal , 5 mil for stanton , 12 mil for floyd , 5 mill for IROD.. my roster pitching...maddux , buehrle, daal , garland , wright - bullpen , glover , wunsch , stanton , marte , koch , osuna other competing would be biddle - rauch ect..they could fill out bullpen positions.. line up jiminez - 2b valentin - ss ordonez - rf floyd - lf thomas -dh konerko - 1b irod - c borchard - rowand cf crede 3b bench - graffy , olivo , harris , liefer... add 42 million minus lee's contract..so imo , it would take an extra 38 million for the next season (figure 3 years deals so 114 million total) to bring a real world series contender to the south side... that team right there would cost the sox about 80 million in payroll..thats what sux about being a sox fan...80 million is not that huge of a payroll..and it would almost gaurentee a division title and we wopuld have our first legit shot at a world series in a long long time 80 million is still 37 million under the luxary tax threshold if that puts it in perspective
  18. in the other deal it had a clause in there that even if the sox did use the DSC that if in subsequent years thomas regained alln star status ect , that they then had to pay him in full..i wonder if that still exist...so if thomas has an mvp year or whatever he gets his old contract back??
  19. mutual options???...ive never heard of that???....do both sides have to agree o nthe mutual options or can one side envoke them??..sounds like another wierd contract for frank...but im sure glad he is staying on the southside for now...i got a feeling one of those options is kenny williams has the right to trade him to x number of teams that thomas okayed...
  20. be interesting to see what williams does now....he will have all the power...he could very well defer all but 300k of thomas' salary..remember what he did to buehrle last year for refusing his offer???...this could get quite interesting..and ugly:eek
  21. did you read where manuel is still going to use the closer by committee??
  22. deal still worked out in texas' favor..they got to dump 9 million in clayton's contract that we had to pay
  23. isnt kreuter like 40???
