  1. I would tend to agree with you pre-strike, and during the Albert Belle era. He "seemed" like he was going to live up to the "I'd trade my NBA rings...", but after the strike, he came up with the attendance excuse. Someone kidnap JR, and bring in Mark Cuban. The mere thought of him running onto the field during a brawl would make me go to every home game. i agree with that..something happened to JR...its like the disdain that has developed between him and the fans is what drives him nowadays..its almost like he wants to punish us for the attendance problems...its time for JR to sell...is mark cuban a baseball fan???
  2. I'm trying to get the point across that the Yankess ruin competitve balance. Did they really need Contreras, or Matsui? No, but did the Red Sox need them? Of course they did. The Yankess simply buy everything to ensure their own dyansty. And you think that this is all hunky-dory and good for baseball? You deserve the name calling, because you just don't get it. I try and lay out the scenario and you just shrug it off and say how Steinbrenner is caring about winning blah blah. You just don't get it. so you really think that anyone that disagrees with you deserves to be called names???...you really need to rethink how you relate to people as for the skanks...you act like you are surprised the yankees are still doing business as usual....did you really think a luxary tax would stop king george???...the yankees have been doing business this way long before king george was on the scene...before the detroit's and kc's it was teams like the washington senators and st louis browns that were the yankee farm system...been going on for 80 some years now.. the owners had their chance and blew it..they should have forced a strike and held out for a hard salary cap and a 50% share in tv and merchandising revenue instead of the 22% it is at right now...because the owners didnt have the balls to take on the union it will be business as usual for atleast the next 4 years you want change??...it wont come until we get a hard salary cap...something about a baseball team that drives good business men to make moronic financial decisions that ruin it for everyone
  3. was it???...dont you have to wait and see if diaz has a successful career..what happens if he never makes it???
  4. with no one 157 BA against with runners on 270 what bothered me most about marte was his era was 4.74 on zero or 1 days rest..and was almost none existent on 2 or more days rest..shows he didnt do well on pitching back to back..which is the emost important quality in a reliever..
  5. Hate to break it to you, but the only two choices we had for GM were KW or Dan Evans. Pick your poison. evans is light years ahead of KW...atleast he can keep his berries straight Yeah, trading your top two prospects for Paul Shuey makes you light years ahead of KW. That's like tarding Rauch and Honel for a good solid reliever. or trading wells and fogg for ritchie?? show me a similiar trade that KW made that was a successful as sheffield for jordan/perez???... has any of those prospects paid any dividends for cleveland yet???...what happens if both flop???...then was it such a bad trade??..evans made a move to win last season..didnt work out but atleast he tried...in '01 when the sox had a chance to make a move to go after cleveland we ended up trading james baldwin for guys that arnt even in the organization anymore...we didnt even take the chance of winning and got absolutely nothing in return...yeah..kw is great
  6. lofton seemed to lose interest once his union rep role kicked in..i remember a story in the southtown where lofton was upset with most of his teammates because kenny is very pro union and most of the sox players didnt share his same ethusiasm...it really caused a riff between them..i dont think lofton and the sox are a good fit... after lofton left jeff liefer took the union rep position by default..no one else on the sox wanted it...even jeff wasnt very entusiastic about taking the position...i could see if kenny was really as pro union as was portrayed where this could have been a problem...so him coming back probably would never happen and wouldnt be a good idea if he would
  7. Hate to break it to you, but the only two choices we had for GM were KW or Dan Evans. Pick your poison. evans is light years ahead of KW...atleast he can keep his berries straight
  8. you let him walk....because if you dont it will effect future trades...if other GM's see that you cave easily and eventually will settle for "whatever" then thats all you'll ever get
  9. i hope frank doesnt bother with soxfest..over the years he has more than attended his share...this year should be for frank and frank alone..he really needs to get his career back on track
  10. cerb.. a couple of things.. kip wells pitched all of 1/2 season in the minors before he was promoted to the sox...the concensus amongst major league scouts is not to give up on a young pitcher until he hits 27 or logs 400ML innings pitched...kip wells was 24 and had a little over 200 IP when we dumped him for that bum ritchie...for that KW should never be forgiven..its the trade that will ultimately difine his career here as a failure..i really dont think he will ever overcome it... as for von joshua...he got fired because he couldnt keep his mouth shut...and thats a no-no in this org...he repeatedly questioned JM's methods because he felt guys like clayton and baines..hitting in the low 100's were coming in late so they didnt have to take BP and when von questioned them they just blew him off...manuel did nothing about this..except fine them 100 bucks for being late each day...von questioned if manuel's methods were working because he thought jerry was way too lax with the situation...this was reported by joe cowley of the southowne...the same guy who reported about how the players all reffered to royce as "clayton's island" because he never made himself available to his teammates...bobby howry , if memory servs me correct , was his harshist critic...saying if clayton wants to alienate himself thats fine but he was also becomeing a clubhouse distraction which he didnt elaborate on... if you want to take the time you can look these articles up in the daily southtown archieves...
  11. the LA trade was howry for eric gagne...at the last minute KW tried to get a prospect from LA and evans nixed the deal..
  12. the bears have absolutely no talent opn offense...wouldnt matter what shoop called this team stinks
  13. even a broken clock is right twice a day
  14. if thats true and buehrle turned it down...it probably means after last year he now wants nothing to do with the sox anymore...will proably keep forcing arbitration until the sox trade him
  15. ahh yes...and another generation of sox fans are passed on the legacy that is white sox ownership...now remember its your responsibility to pass it on to the generation that follows you..also , when they start to tell you how the sox will go after the maddox's and colon's of their day, you must show them the same patience we have shown you.....
  16. god what i wouldnt give to see mcnabb in a bears uni...how anyone can say mcnabb is s*** has some other issues clouding their judgement...
  17. kreutz has played like crap all year..he doesnt deserve it...
  18. cwsox..this one is for you being both a sox and cub fan = compassionate conservative???

    2003 Roster

25th spot better go to josh paul..unless someone else can catcjh..alomar will be gone by may (dl)
  20. well if anyone has potential for growth its KW:D von was used as one of the biggest scape goat ever..i really liked him and his style..he was a no nonsense get your ass out there and work kind of guy...ill never forget the siro - pedro game where pdro was getting a good foot off the plate being called a strike and von came out with this huge towel and laid in on the ground to signify the size of pedro's strike zone..immeadiate ejection...that crack me up.. good luck von
  21. i was impressed with fick's rm in RF..holy mother of god can that guy throw a baseball...ateast he is more fundementally sound and versitile then dumbass caballo..and no way can he be as dumb...if we could move dumbass caballo for a number 2 or 3 starter and then signed fick to play LF id be ok with that move...or we could just stick liefer out there
  22. i think cal wants to prove to himself that he really cant do it anymore before he moves into coaching...once he doesnt have that thought about i wonder if i could still do it in the back of his mind it will make him a better coach...i liked cal alot and wish only the best for him..and whenever this comeback is over the sox should immediately be waiting with contract in had for for cal with a coaching position
  23. he means konerko is most replaceable because of the position he plays...its not hard to find 30 homers and a 280 average at first base..hell the dodgers will probably get close to that from old man fred mcgriff..lol i like konerko alot and think he should be one of the 4 guys we build around with maggs , frank and buehrle...but if the right deal came along and we had to trade him id be ok with that too...
  24. does anyon e realize that when sandy goes on the DL and is through for the year and if because of this move we let josh paul go our catchers could be olivo and ??? whoever from the minors??? this ove predicates josh paul making the 25 man roster as insurance for sandy..if that happens ill be ok with it
  25. i dont understand all this love for todd ritchie...he is in his 30's..he had one good season and that was back in 99..throw that season out and he is a well below 500 pitcher with a plus 5 era..very jaimey wrightesque...im not saying it cnt be done...omar daal came back from a 19 lss season to years ago and has pitched at 600 pace since..but after last year i think ritchie needs to prov e it instead of us hearing everything he is going to do... i hope todd does well..he seems like a nice guy...but i not holding my breath
