  1. this could bea good or bad move depending on what jerry the tinkerer has in mind..if he is planing on 80 -100 games for alomar as the starting catcher then this move stinks to high heaven... myself i cant see alomar catching 30-40 games before his knees go...and he will be in plenty of pain before he even gets close to those numbers...i almost think with alomar we need to carry 3 catchers...since josh can play 3rd base and the outfield that can help with the flexibility of the bench..im not a huge fan of josh's but we better not let him go because if we do we could be looking at olivo and who, humberto? as the catchers by may
  2. if you look at klesko's first 3 years compared to liefers they are almost identical..year number 3...liefer 256 at bats , 13D , `18 4B , 39 RBI 256 average...klesko 245 at bats , 13D , 17 4B , 47RBI 278 AVG klesko got a chance to play in his 4th season...liefer just rotted on the bench under jerry the tinkerer... if we traded dumbass caballo (and of course the obligatory minor leaguer plus cash that signifies every KW deal) for a number 2 or 3 starting pitcher and started liefer in LF we would be a better team then not having that pitcher and dumbass toiling aimlessly out there
  3. another guy i was thinking of along those lines would be rick helling...of course omar daal is the best option but he laughed at our offer
  4. ritchie already has his career year with pittsburgh...which was 15 wins..this guy stinks..period...all wrap around pitchers do..the only one i really remember as being successful was sutcliffe..and even he wasnt very consistent...ritchie lost his release point because thats what happens to guys who throw like that..thats why he is so streaky... btw , ritchie will be the number 2 pitcher coming out of ST...KW 's ego will allow nothing else..he is gonna prove trading for ritchie was a good move even if it kills his career...and we can only hope it does
  5. putting valentin on SS and just leaving him alone would be the best thing for this team...with him and crede on the left side i think we will have more rnage then we have ever had at those two positions at the same time since ive been following the sox..of course jerry the tinkerer will make sure that doesnt happen...
  6. That's why Danny f***ing Evans traded away his two best prospects for Paul f***ing Shuey. Evans sucks more than KW, face it. yeah , KW trading wells , fogg and lowe for ritchie was so much better...what was i thinking??... and shuey was 8-2 with a 3.30 era last year...ritchie was 6 -16 with a 6.06 era..cleveland got two prospects that may or may not develop...pittsburgh got two starting pitcher that already have developed..but again KW is the better gm:D
  7. hasnt mendoza had alot of arm problems the past 2 seasons???...i remember him in '00 being the guy everyone in baseball wanted from the yanks...seems interest has cooled off...with whats left if the sox were truly looking for a free agent pitcher id go with daal first and the mendoza... medoza is a free aganr right??...the yanks said they wernt gonna make him an offer..or am i thinking of someone else???
  8. its beginning to look that way..and if that is the case i think the twins will be division favorites..
  9. That's correct. Turner was basically forced out in a power play by AOL. really???...so what exactly is turner's role???
  10. then why pay 3 f***ing mil for ritchie. well i wouldnt offer ritchie the league minimum but then i dont have KW's huge ego either
  11. So once he makes one deal that turns out good, you'll be quiet? Evans has made a few crap moves as well. See 2 prospects for Paul Shuey. But I'm not a backer or anti-Williams. atleast evans (with the shuey trade) made moves to give his team a chance to win..in '01 when the sox turned the season around and finally got themselves in position to challenge cleveland KW deemed it too much of a gamble and ended up dumping baldwin...how would that season have turned out if instead of dumping baldwin he actually took a chance and picked up woody williams, who was had for practically nothing by the cardinals??...can you imagine if we had come back all the way???...it would have been one of the greatest comebacks ever..and what would it have cost us to try??..as it turns absolutely nothing..cause thats exactly what we got for baldwin
  12. Baggs, as I said to oldroman....would you rather have had KW made the trade for Ortiz which would add $4 million to our payroll and would give us a huge risk in JT Snow or we would have been Ortiz-less with Konerko...you even said it yourself that this could end up like the Ritchie trade....which is one reason I really like it falling through. I am happy with Konerko in a Sox uni...it is fine with me. i didnt say make the konerko - ortiz trde if that was even a possibility...i didnt like that trade...but in the 2 years KW has been in charge we have gone from leading the AL in wins to a .500 ball club..and he has not made one trade that has significantly made this team better...but has made many that have hurt us...until this team wins he deserves all the criticism he gets...
  13. disregaurding salary concerns...unless we were able to move tatis down the line to somebody for some pitching prospects then it wouldnt be wise..can you imagine another infielder for jerry the tinkerer to "tinker "with???
  14. instead of telling everyone to shut the f*** up why dont you try and defend your man...oh wait you cant..thats why you resort to telling critics to shut the f*** up... when KW pulls off a trade like danny evans did last year , odalis perez and brian jordan for gary sheffield , a trade that would be a huge winner for the sox , then ill shut the f*** up...until then..blow it out your asses:****
  15. speaking of atlanta why the hell dont we ever deal with them???..they are known for giving up good prospects for the guy they want???...they seem to be a good organization to deal with... they need a 1st baseman...why havent we dealt with them???...we could have dealt them herbert perry 2 years ago for a hell of alot more then what texas gave us
  16. No no....they'd over-estimate it like they did with Butter in ST....thinking his fastball was in the high 80s or whatever and then it turned out the highest he was hitting was 85.... KW would be more like... "We like this pickup. Mark has a good arm, with a good fastball which tops out at about 93 and has a good curve ball and a knowledge of how to pitch." He would then proceed to guarentee 18 wins from him....and somehow, he would trade him Corwin Malone, Dan Wright and Matt Ginter, and all 3 would have good success with the A's. When Fyhrie goes 7-19 with the Sox with an ERA up around 5.89, KW has no comment(we all know what he is thinking...'I got f***ed big time!' ). exactly..makes you wanna :puke doesnt it??
  17. well ortiz must have hit .000 against other teams then because he hit about 800 against us (well it seems like 800)...didnt he have a strectch where he went 11 for 11 against us???
  18. if they would have taken lee and his "braile" defense id have help packed his baggs and ante up money for a plane ticket to the bay area...
  19. Statistically speaking, Daal is better...but who would you rather have, Daal, who is looking for $3 million a year over 3 years or Brian Anderson, who is probably just looking for maybe a $1 million salary? That's where I think he is better...sure he may be on a downward spiral which will eventually end in retirement. But he would be a cheaper option and if he sucks, then we release him...simple as that. I'd take JB back....just another voice in the clubhouse that could make the team better...and he'd be cheap. If he could come here and throw up a 12-10 season with a 4.50 ERA, I'd be very happy....because he is making clubhouse chemistry much better.... The again, baggs, wasn't JB one of your favorites? LOL the difference between JB and ritchie / anderson is that while JB era sux...he is number 10 all time on the sox in winning pct with pitchers over 1000 IP for us...JB was a winner here...something he hasnt seemed to be able to repeat in LA or seattle...why is that i dont know but he won here so to me that should warrant another chance before id go with guys like anderson or ritchie... yeah JB was one of my favorites...the afro, the slow walk off the mound , the shaving cream pie he reciever from sean lowe while doing an interview , the 70's jackson music in the clubhouse...soemthing about JB made him a perfect fit for this team..that didnt seem to work on the left coast
  20. todd ritchie...42-50 4.65 era.. brian anderson 61 -58 4.72 era...both have pitched the majority of their career in the NL...so if you add a half a run or so to their era's to adjust for pitching in the AL both would have a career era over 5.. omar daal's number..while nothing special are a little better...64 -67 4.40..the difference between these guys is over the last 2 seasons... anderson' s record is 10-20 with an era of 5.00..thats a 33% winning pct on arizona ritchie's record..16 -30 with an era well over 5.00 daal's record..24 -16 with an era around 4.15... seriously how can anyone like anderson or ritchie over omar daal???..daal's career seems to be defined over one season where he lost 19 games...but to me it shows a lot of heart and character for him to rebound with the numbers he has put after that 19 loss season..he has won at a 60% clip since..look what one down did to jose lima??? get omar daal ..if we arnt going after him we would be better off lettin g ritchie go and picking up james baldwin for a million bucks or so..atleast james brings leadership with him...
  21. jason...you take pittsburgh over my beloved oregon state beavers and then to add insult to inhjury you our rivals oregon to win their bowl game??...we are now at war buddy:D
  22. i saw we sign mark furhie..i could hear the KW press release.. "our scouts have been following mark for years and really like his fastball (82 mph) and think he will develop into one of the leagues top starters...we are adding a quality arm to our staff"
  23. that would be funny if i was a fan of any other team :puke
  24. 4.) kw will trim payroll to get the total in under 40 million dollars ding ding ding!!
