  1. Jermaine was interviewed in the locker room yesterday Says he wants to finish his career in Chicago I hope we can sign him to DH next year, he's my favorite player on the team and he seems to be very emotionally attached to the white sox organization Hopefully we can work out a deal in the 2009-2010 offseason but I'm not holding my breath
  2. Carrasco believes 2008 performance earned him spot in 2009 pen hmm..
  3. I posted this in the regular spring thread but I guess I'll put it here as well Jesse Rogers saying, emphatically, Poreda will be in the Sox Bullpen in 2009
  4. Jesse Rogers saying Poreda WILL BE in the bullpen in 2009. He was very emphatic about it, like he's heard something about it officially.
  5. according to jesse rogers, Viciedo = 5'11 @ 225lbs currently
  6. Contreras confirmed to start some games once ST starts
  7. I wonder if Kenny realizes how f***ing lucky he is that our divisional rivals haven't done s*** this offseason either.

  9. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 12:56 AM) From what I saw in Birmingham last season, Aaron's not ready for primetime. He has a lot of work to do. He needs more seasoning, if he doesn't break camp with Chicago, I wouldn't be surprised if he wound up in Birmingham again for a few months. He's loaded with potential, but he did get hit hard a few times in AA in 2008. to my understanding, AA isn't really a competition league, it's more of a league where players are learning new things or having their mechanics slightly adjusted and new pitches learned/perfected, AAA is generally where your final talent resides in waiting someone correct me if i'm wrong can't really go by what happened to him in AA, as we all know he's been hard at work with his changeup, and has probably been throwing it as much as his fastball if not more than
  10. Once i see poreda in spring training, it'll probably satisfy my appetite for wanting to see him pitch, enough to where I won't care if he spends 2009 in AAA (which is where I think he should be)
  11. QUOTE (IamPabloOzuna @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 01:32 AM) Did anyone else see on CSN tonight that KW said contreras could be back in the rotation by opening day? he is apparently wayyy ahead of schedule and in really good shape. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=cws Poreda seems excited to show he's ready for the big-league club too
  12. Ozzie @ Camelback, interviews http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?mid=200902153832980
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 12, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) Trade Dye to which team? His contract isn't very cheap. Teams wanted dye this off-season, KW confirmed that much.
  14. The only asterisk that needs to be placed is next to Bud Selig's name, for allowing that entire era to exist without stepping in and nipping it in the bud before it became what it is today. He seriously needs to be canned and replaced.
  15. QUOTE (scenario @ Feb 11, 2009 -> 11:12 PM) VORP compares a player to a league-average player at his position. I thought that was OPS+ VORP, i think the other guy is correct?
  16. Dunn will be lucky to get 5 mil per year!
  17. So Dye for 12 million/1 year, and Manny 50+million/2 years, are the two last high-profile right handed sluggers on the market?
  18. he hasn't even played in the big leagues yet, omg lol what if he doesn't rake in ST? what if he hits like .240 with 1 HR? i think we're getting too far ahead of ourselves here, well some of you are (beating franks all-time sox HR record, please!)
  19. My bold prediction, the Yankees (even after spending mucho dollar this off-season) finish 3rd or 4th place, either ahead or behind the blue jays.
  20. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 07:11 PM) And just because something's illegal, doesn't mean there's something wrong with doing it, or if the law's right. That's besides any arguable point. This discussion is about what is and isn't allowed by baseball. If something isn't allowed at the most basic levels (Federal & State Law), then of course it isn't allowed in baseball. Whether YOU think it's right or wrong is irrelevant. You can THINK the laws against marijuana are wrong, but what you think doesn't matter. The law is the law.
  21. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) /throws topic grenade, runs. What's worse, a legal (at the time) PED or an illegal recreational drug? If MLB never enforced it, how was it illegal/cheating? Recreational use of anabolic steroids has been illegal, by federal law, for as long as I can remember. Something that's illegal by law doesn't necessarily need it's own baseball rule governing over it, it's common sense
