  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) Ugh, the only people with that attitude are the very few fans of the Sox who still think we're in it. I guarantee even Thome would breathe a sigh of disappointment if he heard that the Sox claimed him, and probably his teammates on both the Twins and Sox. Were 5.5 games out with the entire month of September playing the division, give it a rest with the doom and gloom crap.. were not out of it yet
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) It doesnt have to be fair, but still it would be a s***ty move to block Thome from going somewhere where he could win that title. One of the best guys in baseball history deserves that chance IMO. And were trying to do that, and if he can help us in trying to do that there is nothing s***ty about that..
  3. Ugh, I cant believe that I am ok with Truth right now.. that Truth/Miz segment was pretty damn solid
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) And yet, they're on the verge of fielding a competitive team again. Joke? They got lucky last year, they are still a poorly run organization that has burned countless top picks on people who could have been had a few rounds later.. they aren't going 6-0 in the division again
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) However, the Raiders don't have a 3rd round pick next year, they already traded that away, which means that the picfk they're likely to lose will be a comp pick for Nnamdi False.. you cant use a supplemental if you don't have the pick to cover it next year.. its a 4th that they don't have..
  6. I hope I never have to see AJ behind the plate again, unfortunately that isn't going to happen
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) The league doesn't have that kind of power. He's already beaten them in court on cases where the league tried to exercise power over him. I was more just making a comment on how bad the moves the Raiders make are..
  8. geez, wouldn't it be in the best interest of the NFL to take that team away from Al Davis.. what a fool
  9. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 08:18 AM) Sounds like Jake Peavy. hey his great year lasted all year though, not just one half!
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) Me thinks the Rockies knew something about Ubaldo. Hes not a great pitcher.. dude has one great year surrounded by decent/solid years and hes like some huge frontline starter.. hes not

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 07:50 AM) Just be careful not to become the target of that hormone driven rage. Thats why I had to say something, because she was getting pretty frustrated.. I was thinking it made more sense for some strangers to think I was a dick than have someone I have to see everyday be pissed at me for not saying anything.. but like I said, the movie was pretty cool outside of some peoples loud talking.. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) How was the pregnancy sex when you got home? Ha So does that count as a threesome??
  12. May I please get my name changed to Papa Tru and my little title thing changed to "Lowes, Ed?"

So I went and saw Fright Night at midnight (it was good) and there were two girls directly behind us and then a bunch of teens in the back row, all loud for about half of the movie.. well my pregnant fiance is starting to get pretty upset about this, so I finally got to do something ive always wanted to do but never could before.. So the two girls behind us were talking, not whispering, just about non stop.. finally, I turned around and said "Hey, can you shut the f*** up please" and not only did they stop talking period, the teens in the back stopped making noise as well.. it was quite satisfying

Haha, the end of Final Destination 5 was pretty cool
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) i guess there was just no way to foresee this type of collapse. And I know this is not an Adam Dunn thread so I won't go on and on, but I'm starting to believe this has as much to do with the pressure of signing a big contract as it does anything else. Even a mediocre season from Dunn, say .225 25 75, would make such a huge difference. But man, to have VMart...I swear every time Miggy gets a hit in front of him he comes through with a knock. You bring up a good scenario Lets forget what Dunn is doing right now and just say that his first year in a Sox uniform ended with .225 - 25 - 75 How much s*** does Dunn catch? The same amount as he is now, or less? I think it would be the same, given his track record..
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) I still haven't written off Dunn/Rios/Peavy as being reasonable producers over the next few years. I haven't either, the problem is if they aren't we are going to go through a pretty rough few years waiting for them to expire off the payroll.. And I honestly don't believe there is anyway Dunn doesn't get back to at least respectability next season.. you don't hit 38+ HRs for that long of a stretch and then all of the sudden cant hit .170 with no power, it makes no sense at all and is extremely flukey Rios? I don't expect much from him.. he has the talent, he just doesn't give a s*** and I don't see how that's going to change.. hes got his money regardless of how he does.. Peavy is 12-11 with a 4.60 ERA in the bulk of his White Sox career.. that's 5th starter material, and for the money we have to pay him that's nothing to be excited about.. If he gets fully healthy and is like old Peavy, awesome.. but that seems kind of unlikely to me at this point, I sure hope it happens though..
  17. lol, I really hope the Titans give Chris Johnson quarterback money.. they would be screwed
  18. Unfortunately I didnt get to see Raw, and the results I read were kind of "you had to be there" ish so can someone explain to me whats going on? Was Nash pretty much saying that HHH sent him a text saying take out the winner, or someone else?
  19. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 11:11 PM) I think I remember that Detroit was supposed to be in on Rios and the White Sox basically blocked him from going there. yes, I remember that too.. but that was just speculation.. and either way, KW shouldn't be making stupid claims to block someone when the risk is getting stuck with a lousy player and an ugly contract.. if he just really wanted Rios (which I think is more likely than just a block attempt) then it was just a poor move and there's not much that can be done now because no one is taking Rios anytime soon.. or Peavy for that matter.. and if Dunn doesn't pull his head out of his ass that's 3 really bad contracts that will cripple this team when our window closes..
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) Good questions. Something else to think about...would anyone else have traded for Matt Thornton? Gavin Floyd? Carlos Quentin, Sergio Santos, etc? Sometimes he hits and sometimes he misses... I think he gets a little confident at times, and then he gets burned and walks away with his tail between his legs... I think the positive by far outweighs the negative. Im all for him trying to put us over the top, but some of these boom or bust moves are really going to handcuff us within the next few seasons when our window will be closing and its going to be time to rebuild/retool
  21. Ide rather have a GM who is going to make smart decisions for not only now but the future as well.. KW seems like hes more interested in reclamation projects and pulling a rabbit out of his ass (Peavy, Rios) Does anyone think ANYONE else would have traded for Peavy, while injured, outside of us? Rios was struggling pretty bad in Toronto, was there any indication that if we didn't claim him someone else would have? And I get why he made those transactions, but man they arent really working out how we needed them to and they are only going to really hurt going forward with that money on the books..
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) Yeah. F*ck science! Its not the science part as its almost like they believe he could go throw a 97 mph fastball
  23. man really? I guess I shouldn't have gotten a Bruney jersey after his hot start for us..
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) The mound is only like 40 feet away, so I think it could be just as tough as trying to hit a big league pitcher. From Wiki: Ugh, I hate when people try to make comparisons like that... Like when Favre would throw a football and they would be like "that's the equivalent of a 97 MPH fastball"
  25. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) As a Punk fan I'm disappointed that they've rushed his title run. However, he's still in the main even picture. There are so many questions after last night. Cena's half-hearted protest, Stephanie leaving Cena's locker room, HHH looking confused when Nash came out, Nash being there period & finally ADR in the middle of all of this. For the first time in a long time, WWE watchers are left guessing. In recent history its been pretty easy to see where they are going with certain things, but I cant figure out whats going on with this.. The whole Stephanie thing, Nash getting involved.. Cena had short words with trips after the match, I don't know what could possibly happen with all of this..
