QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) While we all know who the real winner is I go with Garland of those 2 well yeah Willie is sexy too but I made a comment to Steff and she said she didnt think Garland was cute

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) I'm saying that if he puts up a year like you have him pegged at -- then he's gonna get some good money in arbitration. I'm not saying it's a great move, but I can see the Sox being more committed to the vet in Hernandez rather than Garland. Yeah but Hernandez isnt gonna have much left in his career.. I think locking up Garland long term would be the better commitment for the club but I do get what your saying about age.. And Jabroni, we need to get to the playoffs first before Hernandez means anything to us then not age, but veteren, my bad

Yesterday when we were talking about Garland this caught my attention, and I must know the truth to it.. My pick, is Jonny Boy

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) That's a good point. I'd really like to see Kenny's "Big Board" right now, as far as our staff for next year. I can assure you that Buehrle, Garcia, and probably McCarthy are on it. And El Duque, most likely. If Contreras has a big season, Garland may not be with us in '06... This is just crazy talk... Garland will be better than El Duque this year I am almost positive on that.. Contreras will prolly be around 14 - 9 with an ERA in the 4's mostlikely.. They are both in their 30's yet we got a young guy like Garland who isnt making that much and is pitching worth what we are paying for him with a chance to have a big year this year.. Why would he be the man who is gone? Garland > Contreras and El Duque It would be a dumb move to commit to the other two instead of Garland, imo, based on age, price, and performance

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) So if T.O. has a subpar year next year the owner can then cut his salary right? Yep, they can cut him and not owe him a dime for whats left on the rest of his contract..

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) I personally wouldn't mind if the Sox locked Jon up on a three year contract. Average pitchers are making five to eight million a year, and up till now, Jon's been a league average pitcher. I realize he isn't awesome, but if you could lock him up for three years for at about ten million (not per year -- total, obviously), I'd probably do it. That, or if he has a huge season this year, sell him high to a team that wants pitching and is willing to give up a whole lot... Um if he has a huge season why would we want to get rid of him? Playing in our park we need our pitchers to be solid, if he has a huge season its all the more reason to keep him in the fold..

haha man I didnt even Realize how pathetic Atlanta is

QUOTE(ihatethecubs @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) im in my 4th season for owner mode, ive filled my team with prospects, and they are finally starting to pay off. im still having a tough time makin money, any tips? Yeah play Dynasty mode instead, its a lot more fun
-
TO does deserve to be paid, I mean come on he set a lot of single season records for the Eagles and is one of the most dominate WR in the game.. I have nothing against this since NFL contracts arent guaranteed.. If owners can cut players like its no big deal and not honor a contract I dont see why TO cant be paid like he deserves to be paid

No love for Houston!?

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) I've got Jonny G. in at about 15-10, 4.00 ERA...and ya know what, that is plenty for me to be happy. 18-7 4.13 ERA is what I have got...

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Same with the Dolphins, although they'd have lost regardless of whether or not you jinxed them. You like any other Florida teams? What's your fascination with that muggy hellhole? I have always loved Miami... but I was a big Orlando fan when they have Shaq and Penny, now they are gone but I still like them.. just not as much as I use to.. Miami did bad because of the piss poor coaching they had, it wont repeat this season

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) I'm not a fan of Willie, but he deserves to be playing today either for Timo or Iguchi. I think Willie should be playing too, but as long as we win I dont really care who is playing

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) Out of the 5th starters spot there is nothing to complain aobut with those kind of numbers. OF course he's going to put up better numbers than that. Jon will win 15 games minimum. Ive got Jon penciled in for 18 wins, I called it before the season I am sticking to it.. BTW I found another thing Garland said after the game, I dont know if I am the only one to see this or not but here it is...

Oh hell yes, I didnt even realize the game was on WGN today!! Man this is awesome!!

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) Thats the problem. Teams don't want to move up. Tampa is the only team that wants to and there are some rumors the Titans could be interested as well. Bottom line, the Bears would probably move down as well, but no teams are willing to give much anything worthwhile to move up, simply because this is a draft that has talent all over and at the top of the draft you could argue the talent isn't necessarily superior or at least it isn't when compared to previous drafts. Exactly.. The guy you get at #1 this year would be = to the guy you can get at #10 There are no clear cut picks, everyone is just about in the same talent range.. and as of right now, theres not really anyone looking to trade up.. Tampa is all I have heard

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) As garlands biggest fan.... this is definitely a non-issue. I agree that if this was Buehrle... this thread would be "thats mark for ya... good ol' boy from mizzoura." Leave Jon alone, he pitched great tonight, I think I am easily the biggest Jon Garland fan, BUT, I have no problem with other people in the fold with me.. Oh yeah, my prediction was close last night... Garland, you are a f***ing badass.. Keep making me look good baybeeeeeee
