  1. See: Josh Fields cannot let go and is being dragged by Buehrle...
  2. You think thats crazy? Josh Fields had a death grip around Buehrle's waist while he was running to Castro. Check the Yahoo! pictures, they're pretty hilarious.
  3. At some point, the league had better recognize Mark for his amazing contribution to the game of baseball and award him a Cy Young. For cripes sake, the guy is one of only a few pitchers who can even be on the same LIST as Cy Young.. pitchers who have a No Hitter and a Perfect Game... he will be tough to ignore if he keeps pitching like this.
  4. Kinda funny... my 11k song playlist just started playing Badfingers "Perfection" The lyrics are a bit off... "there will be no perfection, there is not a perfect day"... but they're WRONG!!!
  5. Not anymore. This combined with his 2007 no-hitter will undoubtedly propel him into being one of the games best, hands down. A no-hitter can be forgotten about, you don't forget about the 17th perfect game in MLB history. They will be talking about this one for a long, long time.
  6. It makes all the sense in the world once you realize C. Rector started it.
  7. come on laz diaz, if your gonna be inconsistent, at least be consistently inconsistent... my point is.. miss a few calls for Shields too... ffs
  8. It seems I am always in this kind of situation. I really think the rumors of a shortened yellow light are true. I'll be driving around today, I'll try to count the time of yellow lights at the intersections... sometimes it feels like they only last 1 or 1.5 seconds... definitely not enough time IMO. It seems like there have been so many times where it was either speed up to make it before red, or slam on breaks... pressured decisions.
  9. It's nice that I can post some alternative opinions and not get blasted for it here. I don't necessarily believe everything in that article I posted, I thought it would just be good to provide an alternative opinion, true or false. Thank you for being open minded, Soxtalk posters.
  10. 'There is a topic discussing this poll here: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=72648 Could anyone elaborate on what Ozzie said? I'm kinda curious to his comments he has against all the players who said they wouldn't play for him.
  11. Nice of you to edit my post with words like p****, b**** and douche bag. I'm sure you would have preferred if I used some actual derogatory words that I won't even say here. Grow some skin. Oh yeah and you missed one here dude.
  12. Then it makes complete sense that Dye, Thome, Buehrle, Konerko, Jenks and Thornton have wanted out so bad because Ozzie is so terrible. I have no respect for that poll or the person who polled those players. It also has zero credibility, IMO, since the poll was taken right after Piniella's problem with Bradley. Every manager has a problem with some players every now and then, to crucify Lou because Bradley blows is ridiculous. As for Ozzie, tt's not because of his ingame decisions or bullpen management, Ozzie has a reputation around the league apparently, and non-Sox players have bought into it. I'm sorry, but that's bush league and this poll is absolutely bush league. And I do reserve the right to call the players who don't want to play for Ozziie buttheads.Even if the poll is anonymous, a player should not answer a question like "who would you least want to play for?". Just answering that question is bush league, Ozzie or not. All it does is insult Ozzie, the White Sox organization, the White Sox fans, and the White Sox players who enjoy playing for Ozzie. Same with Piniella and the Cubs. And it also shows me that Ozzie has an unfair reputation compared to "quiet" managers like Scioscia and Maddon. By the way, when you put large groups of fans together chatting about every game in a 162 game season, you're going to see plenty of "pissed off fans" who take every little detail of every game and blow it out of proportion. I challenge you to visit any message board of any team that's been struggling and not find a thread about the manager and how he should be tortured and killed or at least fired. When you're struggling, everything gets put under a magnifying glass. Every manager makes a lot of decisions in any given game, and some of them are bound to not work.
  13. Sounds to me like the players polled are a bunch of pussies. Why is everyone so scared of Ozzie??? Because he's not afraid to tell you when you play like horse s***? What a bunch of thin skinned little girls...
  14. Thanks but no thanks for not actually reading my post. Did I compare Buchholz to Thornton? No, I recall comparing Fields to Borchard and questioning your idea that he has zero value whatsoever despite hitting more HRs in the bigs then Joe Borchard. Yet you think he wouldn't net us a Matt Thornton-type of prospect, at best. Whatever, I won't ever understand why us fans underrate our prospects so much. If JOe Borchard can get us Matt Thornton with no ML success whatsoever, then Fields with his 20+ career home runs will be able to get us something of value. Please, learn to read before ripping me for something I didn't even say. And that goes for ZoomSlowik too. I compare Borchards trade value to Fields and you try to say I'm comparing Thornton to Buchholz... gimme a f***ing break. You call it MY Matt Thornton comparison??? You guys put those words in my mouth, sorry, I call it my Fields trade value vs Borchard trade value comparison, and yes, it is relevant to the discussion because you're endlessly insisting that Fields has no trade value yet Borchard was able to get us a Matt Thornton type of player... it makes no sense to label Fields like that when he's had more success then Borchard ever had already. I already admitted it wouldn't be Buchholz, but if you're thinking Fields wouldn't net us a player of similar value in return, you're f***ing crazy and caught up in yourself. It's one thing to defend your opinion, but defending a ridiculous claim like "Fields has no trade value whatsoever" is just plain asinine.
  15. i seem to recall once or twice corky getting a big hit for us, and Hawk was so happy I think he blew a load in his pants... those are my favorite Corky memories.
  16. Uhhh, I actually proposed a trade of CB centered around a third basemen. If they like the idea of Josh Fields, then additional lower-level pitching is just icing on the deal. Of course, according to you, Josh Fields has zero value. As a 26-year old with only 1 full year of MLB service, I find that hard to believe. Especially considering he had a successful 100 game campaign only 2 years ago. Of course, your typical sports fan that takes part in the "what have you done for me lately" mantra also feels that this applies in trade conversations too. Any GM with half a brain would realize that Fields is a potential power-hitting fulltime 3rd basemen who just wasn't able to get a shot here because he got off to a slow start and we were forced to bring up Beckham to make our lineup better. Seriously, if Buchholz was THAT good, he'd be in Boston right now, and they would have no reason to sign Smoltz or Penny. Obviously they still are not comfortable with him. In all seriousness, where do you draw the line? How does Fields have no value whatsoever? Joe Borchard.. We knew he had no value whatsoever, yet we were still able to trade him for another top-prospect who hasn't completely panned out. Would you say that Joe Borchard when he was traded had more value then Josh Fields right now? I don't think so, and this is why KW has not jumped the gun on any trades. He's probably gotten some offers on Fields, but he probably feels lowballed by them because most smart teams would try to get him on the cheap now. My guess is you will see Fields traded for a player of similar value (talented but hasn't put it all together/not gotten enough PT) closer to the deadline. And I don't mean Buchholz because he is still on that pedestal. It would probably be more of an under-the-radar type of guy. No offense, but just because you say he has no value does not make me a buyer of what you're selling.
  17. Aren't the Red Sox going to need a future long term 3rd basemen? What kind of deal is Lowell on, and how is his body holding up? If we could create a deal around Josh Fields for Buchholz, I think that would be great. Fields is a talented guy as well as Clay, and despite that no hitter they both might classify as project players that might need a change of scenery and more seasoning. IMO Alexei is more proven and a deal STARTING with Alexei for Clay is absolutely ridiculous. Talks starting for Alexei start at Jon Lester, IMO. I know pretty well that Buchholz for Fields straight up would not work, so I could see us throwing in a pitching prospect or two to sweeten the deal. Someone like Hudson, Carter, Omogrosso or sweeten the deal. I could see them considering something like that at least, especially if they are comfortable with their SP... heck acquiring a guy like Buchholz would make it easier to part with a guy like Richard so maybe Richard and Fields can get the deal done?
