"Mini" Computers
On top of that, they are a pain in the rear to work on (as a laptop technician), the lack of optical drive takes the cake for me in reasons why not to get one. Sure, externals work nicely in Windows, but it's always a headache trying to use it as a boot device.

The Tea Party
A lot of the Tea parties were affiliated with the Campaign for Liberty and also about how lame the Fed is. I am totally down with any rally against the Federal Reserve. Some may have misconstrued the points, but even if it was 250,000 nationwide... thats a LOT of people going out of their way to express their distaste with the way things are run. Originally I thought it was a bunch of Republicans complaining about Democrats, but this is the real deal. These are real people who are just sick of phony politics... cheers to them!

Laptop Computer
Forget the comparison then. You could compare any laptop to that MacBook and realize that it is a ripoff. It is $2700 for a laptop with a core 2 duo, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, nVidia 8-series 512 MB GPU, and a 17" screen. Toshiba gets $1400 for a laptop with a 320 GB HDD, 4 GB RAM, Core 2 Duo, and 9-series nVidia with 512 MB of RAM, 17" Screen. HP gets $1050 for a laptop with Core 2 Duo, 320 GB HDD, 4 GB RAM and 512 MB Video Memory, 17" Screen. MSI gets $1000 for a laptop with those specs. The Toshiba clocks in at 7.99 lbs, the HP cat 7.64 lbs, the MSI at 7.05 lbs. The Apple? 6.6 lbs. All this info is telling me is that Apple charges at least $1,000 more then competing laptops for ~1 lb. difference in weight, "sleek sexy trendy design", the Mac OS, and a slightly longer battery life? It's a ripoff, none of those differences warrant such price increase... they just are not practical. They are for people who collect Apple's turds from their sewers. The fanboys. I'm not saying you are, or anyone here is, but it's these retards that help Apple feel empowered enough to jack up prices like that. They will slurp up anything Apple makes, regardless of competition, research or logic. Of course, a person such as yourself who uses logic when making computer decisions understands this, I'm just preaching to the choir.

The Tea Party
I am very sirius. I'm really just pointing out how stupid the people doing this really are. They think its all the Democrats fault, all Obamas fault... really it is the fault of many and IMO those at fault will get what they have comin' to 'em.

The Tea Party
People need to get over this left wing right wing crap. I fear that only when we put these days behind us will we realize that there is no real difference between Republicans or Democrats. The stereotypes keep getting pushed further and further, and while we continue to depend on the regulated television for our news, the American people will be none the wiser. There is more to our country then donkeys and elephants. I am a human, and I have my own views on politics... there is no reason to needlessly associate yourself with one or the other... all you are doing is buying into the theory that politics can be run just like sports... with legions of mindless fans who cheer cheer cheer the guy that 'represents' them regardless of whether or not they agree with all his political views. This past election, IMO, pushed it to a new level. Words like Change were tossed around by the media and the people sucked it up like little sheep... supposing that any change is good change. Supposing in politics isn't really a smart thing. The only change I see happening is a complete perpetuation of previous administrations. We're still policing the world, we're still giving our citizens a prescription for every little ache, we're still falling into a disastrous economic hole, people are still losing jobs, people are still shooting each other and going on rampages before committing suicide... I do not see things improving and I certainly don't expect it.

Laptop Computer
I don't know, I'm just not sure I buy what you're selling here. I compared a MacBook Pro MB766LL/A to an ASUS M70 Series M70Vn-C2... difference in price about +$300 in favor of the Mac. Just comparing the spec sheets of those two laptops makes me feel that the MacBook is a giant ripoff. Here are a few I can point out offhand: Apple: 320 GB ASUS: 1 TB Apple: Core 2 Duo 800 Mhz FSB 2.5 GHz ASUS: Core 2 Duo 1066 Mhz FSB 2.5 GHz Apple: Regular old DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW ASUS: All of above PLUS it can play Blu-Ray movies Apple: GeForce 8-Series with only 512 MB dedicated video memory ASUS: GeForce 9-series with 1024 MB dedicated video memory Apple: 1 year limited parts warranty, 90 day labor warranty ASUS: 2 year labor and parts warranty, PLUS 1 year ASUS Accidental Damage Warranty - Drops, Fire, Spill, Surge Apple: DVI output ASUS: HDMI output After the comparison, and realizing you could get a laptop from ASUS with those same specs as the MacBook for probably a little over a grand, I came to the conclusion that Apple just straight up charges a premium for their product. It seems to me that the Mac OSX is marked up, as well as the sleek, sexy case that it comes in. It also seems to me that the better value buy is not the Apple. For $300 LESS than the Mac, you get a computer with a 9-series GeForce instead of an 8 (double the RAM), HDMI inclusion (I really can't believe it's almost 3 grand for a computer with no HDMI), Blu-Ray and a Terabyte hard drive. The icing on the cake is the warranty. Apple products are not perfect and the warranty is pathetic for something that costs $2700. I wouldn't trust their products at all, personally I've had nothing but problems with Apple products especially after their warranties expire... but that's another topic for another day. What I'm really trying to get at here is that I think it is stupid that Apple would make such expensive laptops just because of 3 things... 1) their name is Apple, 2) They are sleek, sexy and most importantly trendy and 3) the Mac OS. None of those 3 things, no matter how good the Mac OS may be to some, warrants such price hikes as seen here to me. Thus, I can come to the conclusion that Apple is overrated, not only by us the people but by themselves too. They think their s*** is so hot that they can get away with charging insane prices for subpar laptops. It really gets to me, and it is reasons like this that I never recommend a Apple computer to anyone. It'd be like me telling people that they have to go buy Microsoft Office when all they really need is Open Office... they just aren't practical.

Laptop Computer
I love threads about computers. I have been a computer guy for 5 years now and here is the latest on laptops from my knowledge and experience: 1) HPs die the most. Unless you purchase extra warranty time (which I would not consider, as several people with dead HP laptops and extended warranties from Circuit City are basically up s*** creek), these computers are not even on option. This includes Compaq, as HP bought them awhile ago. 2) Dells are okay but are kind of flaky. It always seems like Dells get stupid random problems that most of the time you can get fixed with your warranty, but after the initial warranty those stupid little problems start costing money to fix. 3) Lenovos are great. I really like them and it seems they have continued the tradition of rock-solid ThinkPad computers as well. I'm typing this on my T42 from 2004 as we speak. It runs strong and I even use the S-Video out to display whatever I feel like streaming at the time on my TV. These are most definitely an option. 4) Toshibas have a pretty good reputation as well. Generally, I consider them one of my favorite laptops as well. 5) Sony's are rare but the ones I have seen I have been somewhat impressed... their desktop lines not so much however... 6) Acer's aren't bad if you're looking budget but otherwise forget it. 7) This one will probably get overlooked, but there's a company called ASUS that manufactures all kinds of computer parts... motherboards, graphics cards, LCD's, and now they have forayed into the laptop business. While I can't vouch for the laptops because I've never seen one or tried one, I can safely say that ASUS makes great computer products that are of high quality. I'm hoping/assuming the laptops will be the same way. If you go to www.newegg.com, I looked at a few of their models and noticed that they have a 2 year warranty standard... that's awesome right there. Best Buy would charge you a lot to get a 2nd year on a warranty for an HP, so that feature seems very good IMO. Hope this helps.

Cutler first pitch on Monday???
Anyone looking for a thrill or excitement from the person throwing out the first pitch in the home opener is looking for that stuff in the wrong place... minutes later the real thrill and excitement begins when the season starts! So yes, your perspective is classless, snubbing Pierce for receiving the honor. He is a really great guy (how can you use this against him?) and in my opinion deserves to throw it for his contributions to the White Sox family. I'm sorry everyones lover Barack Obama isn't there, but in reality he wouldn't have made opening day any better, because nothing beats opening day, no matter who throws the first damned pitch.

Cutler first pitch on Monday???
Classless post. You obviously have no inkling about how truly awesome Billy Pierce really is. He's a great guy and he is great towards fans... I think it would be great if he threw the 1st pitch.

Name Change? Anything else needed?
Shingo was legendary... if only for a short period of time. He opened the door for Tadahito and we ended up getting a World Series out of it. I'm proud to say that I am a fan of Shingo Takatsu. Thanks for the change!

Dreams
When I was driving out to Idaho to live there I stayed in a hotel one night and experienced the "flying dream". I was in my dads neighborhood and I just started flying. I felt the "scared of true heights with nothing stopping me if I fall" feeling, but I was able to control it and fly around a little bit. That was probably the most metaphorical dream I've ever had.
