  1. Butler beat NU handily, but top 10? They don't have much talent. They run their system well, but Butler has mid-major talent. Butler has had multiple better teams recently that didn't get top 10 love. Gotta love preseason polls.
  2. Big Ten Network has game 5 of a volleyball match bleeding into Northwestern vs. Butler. blah Edit: volleyball is getting screwed lol. Justice is served.
  3. Ireland gets screwed in OT. Henry handled the ball (more like palmed) and no call directly leading to the goal. Shocking that Ireland got screwed by the refs there, completely shocking.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 11:26 PM) Wow.. I was stunned to see the Kings were an above .500 team (now at .500 after the loss) entering that game. I don't know if they are that bad, but the Bulls made them look that way. I had the same reaction, but their wins are mediocre. Tyreke Evans is a player though. I'll definitely take 6-4 from the Bulls.
  5. QUOTE (kev211 @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 04:54 PM) The only way to fix this is if the selection committee realizes that a lose on the road to a mid-major is not a bad lose. I don't think the committee views them as bad losses, but they don't view them as good wins. That's the bigger problem.
  6. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) Looks like Mangino was fired from Kansas. Well, maybe not fired yet, really hot water. It's a weird story, but it matches how weird the Big 12 season has been this year. If Mangino gets fired (even if it's for a good cause, like he hit a player or whatever rumors going around), you would have to think it marks the end of Kansas football for at least a few years. If they can't win with this year's offensive talent, I don't see how Kansas football expects to have staying power.
  7. Jason is about to be really excited or really crushed. Excited is the winner. That was a battle of 2 mid-majors though. UCLA has no talent. How did that happen?
  8. Kentucky, the most overrated team in the history of college basketball? You simply can't be a top 5 team based on freshmen.
  9. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Nov 15, 2009 -> 12:48 AM) I recommend this place called Buca's. They serve communal food, which ought to be plenty for a party of 4. It's mainly italian style, too. I'm only familiar with the location in Orland Park, tho, but I think there's another location somewhere. It's in Wheeling. I've thought about going there and heard good things, but the communal food was usually a deterrent.
  10. Oklahoma scored more points in the first half on Texas A&M (football) than either team in the Bulls/76ers game.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 14, 2009 -> 06:27 PM) Iowa State bowl eligible. No guarantee of a bowl, but a win over the Fightin' Danmans would seal a bid. On a side note, Colorado is hilariously bad. If we play anything like we played today, it won't be close. And, yes, Colorado is awful. It begs the question, how do they have 2 wins in conference?
  12. Bob Chinn's for seafood. Mai Tai.
  13. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 14, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) It wasnt close. The Illinois player caught the ball and was laying down as the Northwestern player fell on top of the WR and took the ball. Game speed it was a tossup but the replay was clear as day. It wasn't a pick, but it was 4th down and it was probably an incompletion. I thought the tip of the ball hit the ground right after he caught it. It remains irrelevant, they weren't going to drive under the circumstances.
  14. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 14, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) The Big 10 refs are just as bad as the SEC refs. Illinois just got f***ed bigtime. What play are you talking about? The 4th down? It was really close and even so, Illinois had to go 70 yards in 30 seconds (on a running clock once the ball was spotted) with no timeouts.
  15. I gotta say the chop block rules are just terrible. If it's dangerous to block below the waist when already engaged, why is it not dangerous when not engaged? And how is it ok for defenders to essentially chop block to tackle? It's an inconsistent rule and is probably worse than hands to the face on a QB. At least your head has a helmet, your knees are exposed.
  16. New Zealand just qualified for the World Cup. Beat Bahrain 1-0 at home after drawing 0-0 on the road. It was a great atmosphere. This is the best part of the qualifying. All the tension and jubilation.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) HAHAHA, is there a team in the Big East that actually DOES play defense? Two top 25 teams that have absolute swiss cheese D. Tough crowd, final score was 24-21. Not sure swiss cheese is close to accurate.
  18. The Mizzou one is interesting, but I'm not especially thrilled by it. I need a better view of the helmet to fully judge, it looks a little different. I love the gloves though. The logo on the inside of them is too cool. I will have to buy them.
  19. I lost this week because a defensive TD counts as points allowed for a defense for some stupid reason. The Steelers scored 28 points in the last minute to cost me my game. That Mendenhall fumble that the refs refused to call would have given me the game. Also, if the Steelers passed to Santonio Holmes instead of Heath Miller on that 3rd down I would have won since I had them on my team. What a screw job.
  20. JorDanks works because that's probably what's going to go on his jersey if he plays for the Sox. Heck, we'll probably see that in spring training.
  21. That was another ugly finish, but this team keeps winning. 4-2 is a solid start with 3-4 really tough games on there.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 04:31 PM) The guy went down and our next QB played like s***. It happens and unfortunately Iowa lost. But I don't think they lose that game with Stanzi. I disagree, but I also don't think Stanzi is good. Besides, Iowa was WAY overdue to catch a bad break. It doesn't matter in the end because Iowa is just Northwestern's b****. 3 in a row in Kinnick.
  23. Here we go again...Northwestern up 14-10 on Iowa at half.
  24. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:14 PM) Baseball players are bigger than they look, I even think Jordan Danks is taller than listed. Nobody was taller than him on the Barons this past year. He may be at least 6'5". Danks is so lanky he looks a lot taller in person. I remember being wowed by his size in college. He's really tall and still fast.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) The Bulls got screwed on that 24 second violation. You could see the ball change direction at the rim. Yeah. Did that not get reviewed? I don't understand why that couldn't be reviewed.
