QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) Everything with his curve. Which is as good as I've seen in a while. I've seen it this good before, but never better than this. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) SIX AT BATS!!!! I didn't say he wasn't good. I said he isn't going to set the world on fire so if he's not going to play 2B for us he shouldn't be on the team. I don't want a hot Fields losing at-bats for a guy who isn't a long-term 3B. -

QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) Well, Beckham is now gonna ride the bench in favor if Getz/Nix at 2B. f***ing AWESOME! Highly doubtful, but I wouldn't be opposed to sending down Beckham. He didn't need to be up here and he's looked like a rookie. I'm not saying send him down, but if Gordon isn't going to play at 2nd at all, he shouldn't be on the team right now. -

Let Josh play. He's been doing a ton better lately. -
QUOTE (Cubano @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 11:48 PM) This Thread must be a joke. You have to give him the benefit of the doubt. He is young and proved in the minors. This does not mean he will succeed, but he earned the right to play as many games as Fields and all other bombs the Chi Sox have. It is a joke, relax.

I want to love Flowers, but I don't think he can stick at catcher from what I've read. I really, really hope he does because then he probably would be ahead of Viciedo. Still, Dayan is my fav.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:31 PM) While I’d still put Tyler Flowers, Aaron Poreda, and Jordan Danks ahead of him, it’s still really encouraging to see Viciedo turning it on Why? Poreda is throwing a scary amount of walks. Viciedo is 20 and adjusting to moving to a new country and entirely different culture while playing at an advanced level. I'm not going to say I'm thrilled with what he's done, but we are seeing improvement and I think he has a bigger upside than the other guys you named.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) He isn't overmatched at the plate. He is hitting a bit too early in the count. His body language is composed. He doesnt look like is panicking. His fielding has been fine. Its not like Fields is doing anything right now. Fields was 13 for his last 39. I'm not going to defend his overall performance, but the timing of Beckham's promotion was odd. I'm not saying Fields being on a hot streak should hold Beckham back, but it's interesting how it went down. -
I can't argue with that. .250 is a reasonable expectation in the short run. Anything below that might be a sign that he isn't ready. I'd rather give him more than 75 AB, but I understand having a decent feel for him by then.
-
Our new top prospect is hot right now. 8-17 in June. .390 in his last 10 games (16-41). His average is up to .286, but his OPS is still south of .700. It's good to see a HR, he needs to get the power stroke going.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 09:52 PM) I'm giving him 75 Abs before freaking out for real. Stay tuned. That's almost fair. What are the standards?
-
Every bad post in here has been sarcastic, but it would be quite funny if after a couple months people started freaking out for real. Gotta love it.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) Disagree, BA has. Fair, but it's hard to be worse than 3 pitches, 3 outs. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) Even if you're willing to give Beckham a break for his ridiculous three ABs, I hope anyone who believes that understands he did NOTHING to bring up Pavanos pitch count. If you're not going to produce, atleast work the pitcher. Not only did he do nothing offensively, but he couldn't even work Pavano for more than three pitches. That's sad, and someone needs to talk to him about it. Someone does. It's not really a knock on his skill, yet, but it's certainly something mental you have to wonder about. It's not a red flag, it's 6 AB, but it's noteworthy. 0-6 isn't noteworthy, but 0-3 on 3 pitches might be. At the very least, it's damn funny. -

Let's make this fun guys. Beckham has shown the worst at-bats of anyone today, if you can even call them at-bats. -

It's not even exciting to see Beckham at the plate anymore. His at-bats have been brutal and have displayed no skill whatsoever. I'm not demanding he start hot out of the gate, but is a "productive out" too much to ask for? Take some pitches, take your time, take some good swings. Haven't seen enough of any of the 3. It's frustrating. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) Sauer's peripherals are redonkulous. In 39 IP he has 46 K and ONE WALK. 46:1 is, I think, a pretty good ratio. So I hear. He also has a 3.67 GO/AO. And by the way, of his 10 ER given up this season so far, half were in one game, where he lasted 0.2 IP (back when he was in the pen). Remove that one outing and he has a 1.17 ERA. He's been very good so far as a starter too - 0.62 ERA. This guy should be popping up on a lot of radars now, if he wasn't before. It's funny, his BABIP actually indicates that he is getting unlucky.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 04:50 PM) At hitting major league pitching? No. Agree. Anderson has been pretty solid this year and Danks has to go through the adjustment period that Brian did.

How many Sox prospects will be in the top 100 of Baseball America?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 04:05 PM) If the people who write those articles think that there are more than 100 guys with higher likely results than "solid major leaguer" in the minors right now, then I'd call them delusional. I think Allen ends up near the bottom of that list, but I also think he is better than that in reality. Upside and likelihood are different things. I'm not sold on the likelihood of Allen yet. -
QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) that is true, also Jones is a year older thank danks, and was at least getting his feet wet at age 20 with Seattle. They aren't very similar players though.

I don't think Allen will get in the top 100. They like higher upside guys for that list. I think Allen's upside is to be a solid Major Leaguer. -
In all seriousness, I was slightly disturbed by Beckham's at-bats. I'm not worried, but as far as I had read he wasn't capable of 3 garbage at-bats in a row, and that's more or less what we got today. Just shows what scouting reports can put in your head, or as some posters would say the better version of Derek Jeter.

FutureSox revisits the top 25 Note: FutureSox doesn't work on Firefox very well currently. We are working on it.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:37 AM) 1. Wynne sucks. That couldnt mark the dead guy from Weekend at Bernie's. 2. That first goal shouldnt have happened. Couldnt even clear the ball from the back line which seems to happen a lot. And as usual, Beasley was in the mix. I agree about Wynne. I have no idea how he got near the MNT. I don't understand at all how Bradley thinks Beasley can play D. He's fast and works hard, but he is not experienced with or comfortable marking international caliber forwards. It's such a waste because they really need Beasley when they attack. The 3rd goal shouldn't have happened either. Bocanegra simply didn't move. I was yelling at him to move when it got sent on the wing and he didn't even step up to guard the goal scorer. I couldn't watch anymore after that. That was absolutely disheartening.

YouTwitFace was great, but the year 3000 ones mostly sucked. Plus they didn't apply to the year 3000, at all.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) That's pretty much the standard McCulloch line. No. If it was, he wouldn't be hated around here. That's a damn fine start he had today.
