  1. Bomb for Flowers. That's #10. That's just short of 30 HR pace in a Major League season and he's only 23. I'm not gonna start calling for a promotion considering the strikeouts and the AJ situation, but with the way the guys have been going up it wouldn't surprise me.
  2. Blast, I lost. Marrero with a bomb in his first AA at-bat. Go figure.
  3. Torres starting for the Knights Corky Miller DHing, find that kinda funny. Barons just getting underway Marrero at 1B. That lineup sure looks weird without Danks or Allen. W-S PPD. Kanny up early behind Leesman KW Jr. DHing, find that very funny.
  4. QUOTE (Adele_H @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 06:57 PM) With Konerko taking pitiful swing since his wrist flared up, would Allen be that much of a downgrade? Paulie needs some time off -- and Josh Fields can't hit a ML fastball (consistently). Dude, Konerko is 5-17 since he came back. Relax.
  5. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Kanny and W-S can have 25 active. W-S still has only 24 active with the additions and subtractions. Oh ok, I don't understand why they have different numbers for different levels.
  6. Just goes to show which teams are better about keeping things updated. The Kanny roster (with the 3 guys moved up already taken off) is still somehow at 22. You would think it has to be at most 21 unless there was a corresponding move, but I don't see anything. Anybody else? Someone come off the DL?
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 09:45 AM) He's good as an attacking midfielder, but having him used as a back or defending middie is the absolute wrong way to use him (as Bradley's been doing lately) and that is why he has looked poor. Exactly. Bradley needs to get his s*** straight with Beasley. It's not like there is competition up front from other Americans. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) Why the f*** can't we get through a tournament game without getting a f***ing red card. 3-0 now. On the verge of becoming embarrassing. Someone needs to go Ozzie Guillen on FIFA. Just have a blue streak calling FIFA rigged and biased and mention how all the refs are bribed. It happened in Serie A, it's ignorant to think it's not happening elsewhere. Call them out. Worst case scenario, it would be damned entertaining. Also, on the verge? It was embarrassing after that 2nd goal. Obviously, Bocanegra, Edu and Hejduk being hurt just kills the US, but defense wasn't their problem today. Everything was. Conor Casey is just awful. I was b****ing at Kljestan before the red, I'm not sure what he brings to the MNT. It's frustrating to see a couple MLS guys look so bad when they probably shouldn't have any MLS guys on the roster (obviously Donovan is the exception). I'll give Landon some credit though, he has played well for a couple games in a row. It just proves all the analysts that were yelling at Donovan to play better back in the day saying he was the key. He's clearly not the key because even when he plays well, the product is trash.
  8. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 09:38 PM) The Kanny game turned into a bean ball fest. Greene got HBP 3 times, Sauer and Oneil retaliated each time it looks like. Greene got hit first and then the last two times. I actually think Greene was receiving the retaliation.
  9. BriSox preview The article talked about the manager and Upchurch, but there was an interesting quote from him: "Hopefully, I won’t stay down here long and get moved up to [Low-Class A] Kannapolis." I like the cockiness. I wonder if it was something they told him if he did well. Maybe they were saving his arm and wanted to keep him away from the hitter's park (and league for the most part) in Great Falls.
  10. Knights 3 @ Pawtucket 9 Egbert vs. Smoltz Egbert hit a wall in the 5th. Armstrong with his 1st HR of the year. Barons were 11-5 winners Shelby with a couple hits. Flowers had a 3B, HR and 5 RBI. Shirek 6.2 IP, 5 R (3 ER), 3 K, BB, 7 H (1 HR). Hogs won 8-7 despite a blown save in the 9th Morel with 3 hits, Marrero 2 with a HR. Rasner 6 IP, 3 R, 2 K, 0 BB, 3 H. Kanny won 14-4. Sauer walked a guy.
  11. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) I think you might be looking at last year's stats for the WHIP. His WHIP this year is actually sub-1.00: 50.2 innings, 38 hits, 10 BBs and 45 Ks. He's having a great year and is only 22, so he isn't exactly old. He could be a future back-end starter or middle reliever. Haha good call, for some reason his baseball cube didn't have his 09 stats up. Still I don't think he needs to be promoted as a starter. He's been a reliever most of the year and while his recent starts have been good, that might be asking a bit much a bit too quickly. BTW, self pimpage, but I thought this was interesting and put it in my FutureSox article.
  12. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 04:18 PM) Thanks, they're season starts next Tuesday, so we'll know soon. I guess the mlb.com rosters listed are still from last year. Yeah, they are slow to update them on milb. I think the issue is that with all the draft picks signing, not even the White Sox know who is going where in a lot of cases until it is all settled and finalized.
  13. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) I am going to say Jacob Rasner. Hudson doesn't need to be rushed, so I think he should stay in high A for a few more starts. Rasner has a WHIP of 1.51, no need to push him up. He's been doing pretty well considering, though he has only allowed 2 HRs this year. That's damn impressive. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) Do you know that for sure? The article linked said he will start in the bullpen.
  14. I'll be stunned if that many of the Barons get promoted this year.
  15. LOL insert foot in mouth. Good to see the Big 12 do something in Omaha for the first time in a few years.
  16. Charlotte won game 1 of a DH 1-0 JVB 5 innings, Russell 3. Game 2 they lost 3-2 Marquez with more mediocrity. Barons off. Hogs clinch Anthony Carter with a good start. Kanny got shutout 6-0
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 01:40 PM) NDFA http://www.valdostadailytimes.com/sports/l...ml?start:int=15 Hit .258 with 22 HR.
  18. I'm surprised we have Hudson promotion talk so soon. Sure he's strung 3 very good starts together, but I don't see the need to rush him. If he makes the streak 9 maybe, but there isn't much point otherwise.
  19. It was a mix of thinking he was going to want top 2 round money and that he wasn't a top 2 round talent. It's some combination of that. He wanted more money (or was at least perceived to want more money) than some scouts/teams thought he was worth.
  20. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) Ref very easily couldve given a PK when Landon got drilled in the box but decided not to allow two PKs in one game I guess. Oneywu is overrated IMO. That second goal should have been knocked away by him. Overall I thought we played well. Hard to play an elite team with 10 guys for 60 minutes. Yeah, Davies should have buried that open header late. Jozy should have put that early shot on goal (great scoring chance). They had opportunities. Howard played great. That's been the deal with US teams though. Finishing isn't all that good, but the goaltending is top tier and has been for a long time (Friedel, Keller even though I didn't like him). Onyewu is good at certain things, but shows weaknesses in others. He is a good man marker, great in the air, but if he can't be physical with the forward he seems to struggle. Compared to the rest of the d (especially with Hejduk and Bocanegra hurt) Onyewu is the rock. If the expectations are reasonable, he's good. He is the best defender the US has currently. I do agree the US played pretty well. I wasn't disappointed, it just sucks the way it went down.
  21. I'm so f***ing sick of getting red cards in big f***ing competitions. Last World Cup, Olympics, here. It's enough already.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 02:51 PM) Replacing Altidore with Davies? Really? Where is Kljestan? I like Davies a lot, but with 10 men it's odd because the best way to get forward is to lob it in and Davies isn't big enough to win those balls. That De Rossi strike was Godly. What was that, 40 yards out?
  23. Brutal to have Rossi, American born, score against the US.
