  1. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 05:59 PM) I feel bad for people who don't watch college football, or worse yet, prefer the NFL. Absolutely.
  2. That Cubillan guy on Marquette wins douche of the day. He made 2 shots and showboat celebrated after each one. First of all, if you are going to be an ass, at least be good. Don't celebrate when you have 6 freaking points. Second, the first one he made wasn't even in a crucial juncture. Why would he be celebrating? I hope he breaks a leg.
  3. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) Lol, did anyone see this? http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3119690 What a joke of a system. Of course as an Illini fan I love this, but what a terrible idea. "What's that? We don't have the teams we want in the BCS? No problem, lets just expand the system so that we can choose who we want." 18 teams for 10 spots - ridiculous. They can only use 18 if there aren't enough eligible teams out of the 14. They can only take 2 teams per conference and since the Big Ten and Big East both don't have 2 teams in the top 14 and it's likely the ACC won't by the end of the year so they might need to expand the field if Hawaii/Boise aren't in the top 12.
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 11:07 PM) I don't know a whole lot about UofI, but is Jeffrey Jordan playing for any other reason than the name on his back? Isn't he basically a freshman walk-on? I can't recall the last time I saw a freshman walkon get meaningful minutes. MJ is in attendance. It would be best not to upset the God of basketball.
  5. Have fun exposing Michigan State this year rest of the Big Ten. Missouri wasn't good enough to do it today, but there is nothing in that MSU team that makes me think they are top 25.
  6. The best game on the ESPN networks so far today is Michigan State-Missouri. 2 point game with 4+ to go. Best part- it's on ESPNU. The only game of the tourneys they aren't showing on ESPN2. Thanks guys.
  7. Dixon got named one of three finalists for the Maxwell Award. What a waste.
  8. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) You smell that??? That's Illinois and Indiana getting better with their Old Oaken Bucket and Sweet Sioux Tomahawk at the ready. Indiana?! It's crazy enough they are going to a bowl game again, I don't know if I could take the craziness of them winning the Big Ten.
  9. Oklahoma's road record this year is pretty bad. They won at Tulsa, whoopdeedoo. Lost @ Colorado, almost lost @ Iowa State, and lost @ Tech. Pathetic. I still hope they get to the Big 12 title game because I want Mizzou to get revenge. Of course, I'd be foolish to look ahead. I feel like mentioning that the best record of a team that Kansas has beaten this year is 6-5. Yeah. Tech took a knee from shotgun, wtf.
  10. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 17, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) DePaul barely beat northwestern. I need the headshake smiley back. How can you be upset about that? NU won last year.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 17, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) KU passes downfield with 2 minutes left for like 30 yards. Kind of a dick move. They've been doing it all year. Bring on the motherf***ers lol.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 17, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) Alabama loses at home to UL Monroe. Best conference in the country my ass. Freaking overrated.
  13. I'm glad Kansas isn't f***ing next weekend's matchup. I have no idea why a lot of Missouri fans are rooting for Kansas to lose. That in no way benefits the Tigers.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 11:50 PM) You know damn well Gary Pinkel can stop you guys, it's just a matter of if and when. He can make them lose, but he doesn't even call plays for the offense. I'm just talking about the offense. I don't think there is a defense that can hold Mizzou under 28 points.
  15. 3 TDs is an awful lot though. No one, absolutely no one, can stop Mizzou. Their lowest point total this year is 31 points at Oklahoma when they had a horrible first half. I'm not going to say Mizzou is the best team or anything, but it's going to be hard to blow them out when their offense is this good.
  16. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 10:14 AM) They will not beat anyone remotely decent until Coble gets back. I do like Mike Thompson and Mike Capocci though. Maybe we'll actually make the tournament in a few years with those three. Yeah, I was impressed with what I heard (I listened online). What's the word on this Nikola Baran guy? He redshirted last year, but is starting this year. That seems like an odd combo to me, is he supposed to be good? Thompson sounded solid. I knew he'd be a decent player eventually, but I didn't envision him as a starter his freshman year. I was surprised because I saw him his junior year in high school and I was not impressed.
  17. Dennis Dixon is out @ Arizona. He ran for a long TD on the first drive, but got hurt in Oregon's 3rd drive. ESPN is saying something knee and he's out for the game. I'm thinking (and Flutie said this too) that he's out for more than this game if they are declaring him out already. 11-10 Oregon (they went for 2 and got it on first TD) Go Wildcats, though I feel bad now.
  18. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 10:22 AM) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedi.../content.1.html Good stuff, Georgetown-Syracuse cover in there, but nothing for UNC-Duke and the number 1 ranked team in the nation. Explanation of no UNC-Duke
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 08:12 AM) This isn't a knock on Illinois at all, but didn't Zook get fired for 3 loss seasons. They just aren't acceptable at Florida. Maybe in the next few years, 3 losses at Illinois won't be acceptable either as they continue to get better. No, Zook lost 5 games in each of his 3 years at Florida which I posted earlier.
  20. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 04:10 PM) I guarantee you the bowl reps are praying that they can align a Florida/Illinois game. That'd get just as much pub as the NC game (as an aside, did you know that Zooks record at Florida is only one game worse than Meyer in the same amount of time? It's like 16-8 to 17-7 - obviously the NC helped, but so did getting a ridiculously talenting roster handed to you....but anyway). Uhhh no. Zook went 8-5, 8-5, and 7-5. Meyer is 9-3, 13-1, 7-3. 8 games, 1 game, what's the difference? Zook went 16-8 in the SEC, but 1-2 against Florida State, 0-3 against Miami (one of those 3 being a bowl game), and 0-3 in bowls. Yeah, Meyer is 17-7 in the SEC, but he's 2-0 against Florida St., and 2-0 in bowl games. Lots of coaches have been fired over losing rivalry games and bowl games, and justifiably so. Zook was terrible at Florida, it's that simple.
  21. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 02:12 PM) Second, Illinois had a very favorable Big 10 schedule this year. They played Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, all at home. They only had OSU on the road. Now I dont know the schedule for next year (tried to find it), but conceivably Illinois will have to play @ Michigan, @ Wisconsin, @ PSU. Wisconsin lost 0 at home this year (hasnt lost at home in 2 seasons I believe now) and PSU only lost 1 game at home to OSU. Take a look: 09/27/08 at Penn State * University Park, Pa. TBA 10/04/08 at Michigan * Ann Arbor, Mich. TBA 10/11/08 vs. MINNESOTA * MEMORIAL STADIUM TBA 10/18/08 vs. INDIANA * MEMORIAL STADIUM TBA 10/25/08 at Wisconsin * Madison, Wis. TBA 11/01/08 vs. Iowa * MEMORIAL STADIUM TBA 11/15/08 vs. OHIO STATE * MEMORIAL STADIUM TBA My prediction right now is: 1. OSU - very hard to pick against with the amount of returning players combined with the success this year. 2. Wisconsin- will return almost every important starter, and gain Lance Smith on away games. 3. Illinois- Could do better, but the schedule is very difficult. Also note its a NU skip year. 4. Michigan- yeah i know its crazy that UM is 4th, but the loss of Hart/Henne makes it hard to pick them over the above teams. You only listed 7 Big Ten games. Northwestern plays Illinois every year. They will play in Evanston on the 22nd next season. Also, Northwestern will be tough to beat in Evanston next year. Senior QB/RB combo returning. The Cats are 6-5 with 4 4th quarter leads blown and Sutton, their best player, being out for a solid chunk of the season. Not that anyone believes me anyway lol.
  22. You really think a 7 win team from the Big Ten could not go to a bowl game?
  23. QUOTE(Shadows @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 01:52 PM) The reason Kansas SOS is worse is because of playing games they would have won anyways against D1 teams they played D1AA teams instead.. that is irrelevant IMO I disagree there. The reason their schedule is rated poorly is because their best non-conference game was Central Michigan and they haven't played the best 3 other teams in the Big 12.
  24. QUOTE(Shadows @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 01:29 AM) I don't get why Kansas is catching s*** because they have been doing everything right.. how can you say they don't deserve it? They are 10-0, but they aren't good? Well when I look at the little #4 next to their name thats a pretty big statement for a team thats not even good. Someones gotta be voting for Kansas, how else would they get there? I fully expect Kansas to beat Iowa State AND Missouri.. so far they have crushed everyone they have played at home.. and not just the non conference cup cakes either.. They have outscored their opponents 348-72 in 6 home games this year.. They will clobber Iowa State, and then Missouri comes to town and Kansas will win that game as well.. But come on Dan, Kansas is 10-0.. don't try to say they aren't good. And I hardly think blaming their success this season by not committing a big turn over in close games means anything. Thats more of a reason to just prove that they are good. Wheres Missouri's big win though? Kansas doesn't have one, so where is Mizzou's? The only one I can see is the win against the Juiceless Illini who turned the ball over 5 times including a 100 yard fumble return and a game ending pick after driving down to the 22 for an attempt to win the game. Other than that game, Missouri has done nothing Kansas hasnt done.. well, except lose a game of course.. First of all, my not good statement was mostly in jest. Second of all, I never said Kansas didn't deserve their ranking. Third, you could easily make the argument that Kansas would be in the same position if they went to Norman as well. Also, Missouri doesn't go to Kansas, so stating how badly Kansas has beaten teams at home is irrelevant. Not to mention the best team to go to Lawrence this year is probably Nebraska. Seriously. I wasn't 'blaming' their success on not committing a turnover. I was simply saying that they aren't dominating the decent teams they've played and a turnover in the 2nd half would probably result in a loss. Oklahoma State was the first team they beat on the road by 2 scores, and it was a one score game mid 4th at least. Missouri is like Kansas in a lot of ways. I'm not going to compare the teams, but the resumes. Both teams came out of relatively nowhere this year (though Missouri was the preseason favorite in the Big 12 North), aren't traditional powers, and are in the BCS hunt. The biggest difference is the schedule. According to realtimerpi.com Mizzou's SOS is 24, Kansas' 66. Only 3 schools in the top 25 have worse schedule ratings. They are? USC, Hawaii, and Boise St. Kansas hasn't beaten a top 25 team yet, at least Missouri has Illinois.
