  1. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 15, 2007 -> 02:45 PM) Robert Vaden=man-god But he's playing Kentucky
  2. Butler must have played the worst basketball known to man. They lost by 1 at Wright St, both teams scored just 15 in the 2nd half. Butler didn't score for the last almost 4 minutes and scored 2 points in the last 7+ minutes. That's so brutal it makes me mad.
  3. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 11:14 AM) He was only useful at one time because -like others have eluded to- he is a great hitter...and WAS a great player. Now, his only purpose on the field is simply to draw walks, hit a few homers, and draw a consistent chorus of boos from baseball stadiums everywhere. He is useless to the White sox, a team in need of speed, defense, youth, and enthusiasm. He has none of the aforementioned and we have a player already perfectly capable of manning the DH position. That's just an ignorant statement. To say you don't want the guy because he is an asshole or whatever else is one thing, but to say he's useless is so far from wrong. The guy put up a .480 obp with an OPS over 1. That's elite status.
  4. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) by the way since the beginning of the big 12, mizzou has still never a won a single conference championship in any sport. That's for men's sports, they have a softball title like a decade ago lol. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) The mizzou/illinois game next year should be fantastic and have ridiculous hype (maybe a college gameday appearance), though it will be tough to top the excitement of this year's game. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
  5. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 07:33 PM) hell who cares its over Mizz got jewed just leave it at that. I don't know, people who go there/went there, etc? You're telling me if Illinois wasn't in the same position and didn't get in you wouldn't care? As for the Fox position, their coverage isn't bad other than their announcers lol. Thom drives me crazy.
  6. Well that was a tease. The rumor was that the Fiesta Bowl was the one that wanted Kansas so when they showed West Virginia was going to the Fiesta Bowl I thought Mizzou had a shot again. I still don't see any rationale for Kansas going in ahead of Missouri. Missouri won the division they are in, beat Kansas, and finished higher than them in the final BCS rankings. Don't say 1 loss because by using that argument you also think Hawaii should be in the national title.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) Ummm, isn't the point to find separation to pick the right two teams even if it is small? Yeah, I'm just saying it's bad when you are using 'they lost in OT' as an argument.
  8. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) LSU lost two games in triple OT. They kicked the crap out of Va Tech. I'd say that sets them apart from the other teams. Sets them apart by slim margins though. Who cares if they lost in OT? Everyone wants to see LSU in there because they think they are the best when they struggled all season long and haven't dominated since Va Tech. I'm not arguing against them going necessarily, but I think it's foolish to write off other teams and simply hand it to LSU because 'they lost in OT' like that matters.
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 01:16 PM) USC has no claim to be anywhere significant. They had their chance and lost two games and one was at home to Stanford. I'm tired of hearing about how great and talented they are. They choked. What, and everyone else didn't too? Everyone's consensus #2 is LSU and they lost to 2 unranked teams, that's nothing spectacular either. It goes back to the argument of eliminating preseason polls because LSU was going to get first crack at every opportunity. Maybe if people reevaluated things they would have been different. There's really nothing that sets any of the 2 loss teams apart. There is no clear cut argument because everyone f***ed up. If Hawaii would have at least dominated Washington I would have tried to argue them over LSU, but they should have lost their game so I can't make that argument.
  10. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 01:58 AM) I'm in favor of a playoff, but an 8 team playoff this year would still have Mizzou on the outside looking in.... It doesn't fix the problem you're complaining about. Mizzou would drop from 1 to outside the top 8? Really? I would hope people have some logic and keep them ahead of Kansas in the polls since there is absolutely no way to justify Kansas. What is the BCS' attraction to Kansas ahead of Missouri anyway? There is no reason they would feel obligated to pick them. Both schools are the same size and have similar history so there is no advantage to picking Kansas financially. I don't see how you can justify Kansas, or why bowls would feel compelled to take them. On the plus side a BCS official said that after beating Kansas, Missouri would probably get in with a loss in the Big 12 game, so we'll see. Funny thing is (and maybe I only see this because of bias) I still think Missouri has a better resume than Ohio State. Mizzou lost to one team and beat the team that Ohio State lost to. Ohio State didn't play anyone all year (Michigan isn't that good, didn't play Wisconsin). I can't argue with them going to the title game, but they still didn't prove a thing this year. Oh well, stupid BCS this year. No one should be national champs.
  11. Hawaii's got 3 turnovers and is down 21-0 after 1, nice. Mizzou did have Chase Coffman, who was the best WR/TE against OU the first time, out and Danario Alexander, who was the best guy against Kansas, out for most of the game. The offense would have scored more with them, but the defense couldn't stop OU's run in the 2nd half so it wouldn't have mattered.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) Just to clarify, he said BCS bowl not championship. OSU v. LSU title game. Still don't see how KU should get in a BCS game over Missouri. I agree, I knew what you meant.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) I dont see a whole bunch of struggling in Bowl games for the Big Ten, they have been even with the SEC for the last several years head to head, I guess then the SEC must be struggling. I know, just saying that was his argument.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Herbstreit just said he would have KU in the BCS (assuming Oklahoma win). So basically MU would be penalized for playing Oklahoma twice and KU would be rewarded for losing to the only good team they played, and beating up on a bunch of piece of crap teams. Makes sense. Thank you. That's all I care about at this point. Unless Ohio State wins, the national champ is a joke this year. I'd rather see Hawaii in the title game than a 2 loss team (that is if Hawaii doesn't f*** up tonight too).
  15. The PIs were good calls and Daniel wasn't in. They call the arm around the back before the ball every time. Mizzou isn't playing poorly, so the tie score seems somewhat fair. They are moving the ball, but their goalline offense continues to be a bit of a problem. For people who care, you probably already know, but Pitt is leading 10-7 late 3rd. They just had a TD run called back on a questionable hold and then missed a short FG.
  16. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 30, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) Danman, It wasnt a Big 12 versus Big 10 comparison, it was a response to: Thats just not true, and a sentiment like that makes me believe that the person who said it has never watched any college football. As for comparing Missouri it was to show: How can you use the Big 10 not doing well in bowl games a premises for believing that OSU should not be in a bowl game when Missouri has done nothing in bowl games to warrant selection. I didnt bring up bowl games, a Missouri fan did as a reason why OSU should not be in one. And your right its ridiculous to compare Missouri, its also ridiculous to use "we scheduled Illinois" as a reason why you have a stronger schedule than any big 10 team. Right now Illinois is Missouri's best victory, whats funny is that for the top Big 10 teams going into this season they considered Illinois an automatic victory. I think he was just bashing the Big 10, not saying Ohio State didn't belong because the Big 10 has struggled in bowl games. I'm a fan of a Big 10 team and defend the Big 10 to my friends here, but be honest, it's a down year for the conference (worse than last year and who knew that was possible). Ironically this (link) site has Big East 2, Big 12 3, Big 10 4.
  17. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Its pretty clear that the records of OSU in bowl games versus Missouri speaks for itself, I dont know if you just have an axe to grind against the Big 10, or you just dont watch a lot of Big 10 football. But the facts dont really agree with your sentiments. C'mon dude, comparing Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Michigan in the last several years to Missouri as your convincing Big 10 vs. Big 12 argument? Seriously? You and I both know that doesn't show s***. Missouri doesn't have as much history as most of the rest of college football, everyone knows that. No one said otherwise. You just compared 3 Big Ten powers (being a bit generous to Wisconsin, close enough) to an average Big 12 team historically. What's the point of that? I know were trying to defend the Big Ten with records, but Missouri was not the point of comparison there.
  18. Mizzou-OU rerun on FSN (I believe nationally). I'm watching because I want to know what it looked like on tv since I was at the game and I want to see what matchups might be different and such. For those of you who haven't seen Mizzou other than the Kansas game it might be worth watching. It's the most Mizzou's offense has struggled all year and they still outgained OU and scored 31.
  19. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) Once again, who has the Big 12 beat outside of Illinois on the first game? Who has the Big Ten beat period? You can't name a non-MAC team with a winning record because it doesn't exist. In fact the only team to even play such a team was Michigan, who got thumped by Oregon. So, yeah, go talk about schedules. Now to list the matchups the Big 12 teams played against BCS schools with winning records: Missouri vs. Illinois W 40-34 (oh and btw, Mizzou was leading 37-13 in the 3rd quarter, thus Illinois had to pass the ball to comeback. So there's the reason for the lack of rushing yards.) Colorado @ Arizona St L 33-14 Florida St @ Colorado L 16-6 Nebraska @ Wake Forest W 20-17 USC @ Nebraska L 49-31 Kansas State @ Auburn L 23-13 Oklahoma State @ Georgia L 35-14 Yeah, 2-5 isn't great, but neither is the 0-2 record the Big Ten put up in such games. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) Juice pretty much did not play at all in that game. And Eddie McGhee was pretty awful. Funny, that's not what the Illini fans here were saying during the game. If you want to discuss the original topic I think West Virginia rolls over Missouri and would beat Ohio State in a closer game. I still think Missouri would beat Ohio State head to head though.
  20. It's bad when I don't pick Missouri, but Ohio State fans need to shut up about being the best team or deserving to be there. Missouri beat Illinois on a neutral field and Ohio State lost to them at home. Deal with it. It doesn't matter though because if Missouri wins Saturday it would be impossible to say they don't deserve it because they'd have beaten everyone on their schedule.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) Ah yes, that little caveat. Illinois fans should be big oklahoma fans this weekend as well. Yeah, Illinois fans should be LSU fans for the same reason. Probably Va Tech fans as well.
  22. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 01:54 AM) Would love to see a new rule requiring at least 7 wins for bowl eligibility now. With so many teams playing at least 7 games, you should at least be required to have a winning record, and not have a chance of having a losing record after a bowl game. Then we might be able to cut out some of these MeinekeDarleneTheCrackSmokerButShesInRehab.com bowls. The bitter Northwestern fan in me agrees. If NU shouldn't go at 6-6 (and I agree), other 6-6 teams shouldn't. 6 wins worked when teams played 11 games, meaning one less cupcake. Heck 6-6 didn't get you in before the 12th game was officially added. I think they will actually change that rule too.
  23. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Nov 24, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) But give some credit to Reesing, he is a gamer and gonna be a good one for two more years. Just made a couple of mistakes, but I will take Chase Daniel as my QB anyday, but Reesing is close as second. Reesing was nervous in the beginning and did not like getting pressured. He did better once he realized he was going to have to move around, but I was not impressed. He's a solid QB, but not elite. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 24, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) I think Mizzou will take down OU and I certainly hope so. I'd LOVE to see a Mizzou-WVU national championship game(obviously WVU has to get through Pitt as well). I'm hoping West Virginia lose because I think they would run all over Mizzou. It was nice to see Danario Alexander have a great game because he's the best athlete in our receiving core. He's got an absurd vertical leap and a pro body. He's dropped some balls and maybe became a head case at points during the season, but he has a ton of talent. As for Kansas, I think they are just an extremely consistent top 15 team. They still have not beaten a good team, but it's obvious they are a solid club. They just don't commit penalties and usually don't turn the ball over. Basically, in a season where everyone is f'ing up and losing to teams they shouldn't, Kansas hasn't f'd up.
