  1. 10 IP, 4 R (0 ER), 7 K, 2 BB, 5 hits for Porcello in 2 starts. Can't hate the WHIP, but it's early. Impressive for his age and experience so far though.
  2. Long term deals for guys with sub .300 on-base percentages are fun!
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 11:29 AM) Royals have a pretty darn good 1 through 3 (if it stays healthy) in the rotation and a nice back end of the pen. They will for sure finish better than the Twins. If the Sox play like they are, the Royals will be kind of by themselves in 4th with the other 3 teams battling for the division and a wild card spot. Agreed.
  4. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) I have a $50 bet going with my Cub fan friend (who's usually pretty intelligent on baseball and the Sox) that the Sox will finish better than the Royals this year. I think the Sox will finish ahead of the Royals, but KC isn't that terrible this year. If the Sox win less than 75 they won't finish ahead of the Royals. I wouldn't put $50 on that fact.
  5. Yeah, I thought Whisler was noteworthy to me because I'm surprised he's even in AAA. Barons lost 5-2. Cassel struggled. Tennessee 5, Barons 2 Hogs got PPD again... Anyone know how the Sox got this Socolovich guy?
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) So who are the Tigers playing tonight? With that opening by ESPN and Gammons, I think they forgot... Yeah, I feel like the Washington Generals.
  7. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) yeah, he didn't have his "A" stuff tonight, it looked like and still posted a shutout against a real good offensive team. Apparently, he didn't break the consecutive streak like people were saying. Eddie Bane of ASU from the early '70s has it at 43 innings. Still though, the man is amazing. He had the best control I've seen in a couple starts from him though. Not to say he's had bad control, but he was ahead of every batter it seemed and no walks is obviously a good indicator.
  8. Broadway's final line: 7 IP, 0 R, 4 K, 0 BB, 2 hits. Solid. The Barons lost the first game of their doubleheader 2-1. McCulloch 5 IP, 2 R, 4 K, 0 BB, 3 hits (1 HR) Tennessee 2, Barons 1 Clayton Richard getting rocked in the 2nd game. 5-0 Tenn. in the 3rd. Warthogs PPD again. Kanny PPD the 2nd game of their doubleheader, but is still playing today. The I's lead 5-1 in the 5th. Carter off to a strong start.
  9. It's 2 games. Stop people, seriously.
  10. Aaron Crow continues to be the best pitcher in the country. 9 IP, 0 R, 7 K, 0 BB, 8 hits. He got a shot to his bicep in his throwing arm off a comebacker to the 1st batter, but it didn't phase him much. 42.2 scoreless inning streak.
  11. Yeah, there are always guys of interest, but not that many that have me really excited right now. All the guys of interest from last year are gone (sans Egbert). It's up to the guys from rookie ball, which I take a wait and see approach with, to make things interesting. I'm not saying they won't, but it's really hard to predict.

    i am drunk

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 01:14 AM) I wish everyone didn't pass out so early though cause now I'm going to have to watch some Scrubs for about another 5 hours before I can try and go to sleep. That's good s*** though. I've been slacking on my scrubs watching lately.

    i am drunk

QUOTE(The Beast @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) I don't get what all the fuss is about over getting drunk. It's a buzz created by alcohol. Woo hoo. I could get a buzz off of my daily 3 mile run or having Mountain Dew and Lemonheads while gaming with friends. I guess my question is, why should I need to know what it is like? Stop starting s***. You know the responses that are going to come from this post so why do you make the post?
  14. It's really hard to get interested in the Sox minor league system this year.
  15. QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) C'mon White Sox, rally. Thanks Jim.
  16. It's a good thing I can't feel pain/be sad while wearing my 2005 World Series Champions t-shirt. C'mon White Sox, rally.
  17. Aaron Crow is officially not going to be available by the time the White Sox pick unless he gets some absurd signing demands. Tonight at Texas Tech: 8 IP, 0 R, 9 K, 4 BB, 2 hits. That's 33 straight scoreless innings, 17 of which came against Big 12 opponents.
  18. QUOTE(Scwible @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) ForecastFox Foxytunes I used both, but forecast fox drained my battery so I got rid of it. Foxytunes is solid and OpenSearchFox is amazing.
  19. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 12:03 AM) UNC won 1st round by about 40, 2nd by 30, 3rd by 20 etc, hopefully it continues. Does that mean they will tie in the Final Four?
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 11:02 PM) Seriously I've seen more discipline in street ball Yeah, Tennessee got exposed. Their defense was absolutely awful.
  21. It's hard not to like Aaron Crow the way he has pitched so far this year. He has superb control and I would say his secondary pitches are probably better than that scouting report above read. He doesn't use his change too much, which might be a sign that it isn't great. I like his slider a lot though. However, I don't want people to get hyped up on his fastball. I've watched his gun readings for a couple different starts and I've never seen this 93-96 FB. 91-94 sounds more realistic, but I've never seen higher than 93. I'll keep an eye out more in future starts, but I haven't seen the plus-plus velocity I keep reading about.
  22. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 23, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) No. 4 mizzou swept no. 14 Baylor. Mizzou's starting pitching 25 inn, 0 ER. Crow, Gibson and Berger are like 13-0 with a combined ERA on 1.00 ish. Yeah, disgusting. Friday: Crow 9 IP, 0 R, 10 K, 3 BB, 3 hits on 109 pitches. He also k'd the last 5 he faced and the 3 guys in the 9th k'd on 9 pitches combined. Saturday: Ian Berger 7 IP, 0 R, 8 K, 3 BB, 1 hit (freshman prospect Nick Tepesch got through the 8th and 9th in order to hold the Bears to a 1-hitter). Sunday: Kyle Gibson 7 IP, 2 R (0 ER), 9 K, 2 BB, 4 hits (Mizzou run-ruled the Bears after 7).
  23. I swear Butler has not gotten a call. Tennessee keeps flailing their arms on every layup and I can't imagine there haven't been any fouls on these plays. Oh well, the thugs live on to play another game. So sick of these Tennessee dbags.
  24. Aaron Crow vs. Toledo (I know it's Toledo, but still look at these numbers): 9 IP, 0 R, 15 K, 0 BB, 7 hits in only 107 pitches.
  25. Missouri started practicing this week so I'm assuming that means everyone else did too. I'm gonna try to go to some of the practices for my newspaper. I found out an interesting nugget from one of the student assistants who is a friend of mine. It was reported in the Columbia Tribune, but they didn't have the full story that I heard. I was told that Ohio State was trying to copy the style of Missouri's defense. I thought that was surprising considering that wouldn't be the unit I would think teams would be copying. Anyway, I figure a few people here might be interested by that and we can start a thread about spring football. I thought there might be enough interest.
