  1. It's far from over. Northwestern has been in this spot a couple times this year before. I'll give NU a 60% chance of winning at this point, that might even be nice.
  2. Still though, teams had 4 starters per week anyway with midweek games. Granted, those games tended to be bullpen by committee or rotating starters, but it's not too different. They probably need to push the season another week later, give teams another weekend to get these games in.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) (It is weird how due to the additional mid-week games, you end up seeing on Friday/Saturday games teams going with bullpen by committee's as opposed to there #1/#2). Only if the team doesn't have more than 3 starters. Mizzou had their home opener today (finally- 2 cancelled games already). Highly touted Aaron Crow was sick in the cold weather. 7 IP, 0 R, 9 K, 2 BB, 2 hits in the 5-1 Tiger win. I looked at the gun for a couple batters, but it was already the 6th and I didn't see fastballs so who knows what he was throwing earlier. Doubleheader tomorrow.
  4. Illinois State a lock after a solid performance today?
  5. Stanford-UCLA has been a mediocre/boring game so far, but starting to pick up. Good matchup. What made me post was that FSN showed a player profile graphic of Josh Shipp and his dream job was to be the president of a multi-billion dollar company. I thought that was funny.
  6. I'm counting it. It was within a tenth when he got it off and as you said, the clock started late. Late enough to count it IMO.
  7. Richar's value can't be much of anything. Masset or Floyd barely have more value, but only because they are pitchers. Quentin isn't completely legit either (at least not right now). Baltimore would laugh at this deal.
  8. Mizzou went 3-1 this weekend with Friday wins over Cal and fringe-top 25-team San Diego State, a 5-4 loss to top-20 San Diego, and a win over Cal Poly today. They are 6-2 on the season, fair start considering a decent schedule. On Friday, potential first-rounder Aaron Crow k'd 10 in 5 innings, but gave up 3 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks. Next up is the home opener Tuesday (if it happens, supposed to be freezing) and the rest of the cupcake part of the schedule which is a 13-game homestand.
  9. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 23, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) Is that the kid that took time off from school to be with his mom during breast cancer? Yes, and he's legit good. Him and Thompson make a good young backcourt. With a few other decent younger guards in the mix, all they need is a legit big man to be respectable in a year or two.
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 22, 2008 -> 06:50 PM) The difference is, Ben Wallace only attempts about 5 shots a game, shooting around 37%. Hughes shoots the same percentage, and attempts around 12-13 shots a game. It's impossible to argue Wallace is a more effective player than Hughes though. Wallace is awful.
  11. List of teams who have made the tournament the last 5 years: Arizona St., Arkansas, Cal State Fullerton, Clemson, Florida St., Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi St., Missouri, UNC, NC State, Oral Roberts, Pepperdine, Rice, South Carolina, Southern Miss, Texas, Wichita State 2 northern teams in that list, but otherwise what you would expect.
  12. So after all this speculation about other moves, we don't even know if Colon is coming.
  13. Wtf was that Drake? Way to blow it at home to a mediocre team (Bradley). That was embarrassing for them.
  14. QUOTE(Shadows @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 07:01 PM) I dont know know what some of these dudes are thinking.. Howard won the dunk contest and it wasn't even close.. Behind the goal was alone enough to win.. his other three were impressive as well.. he should have won last year too I never said Howard shouldn't have won, I just said his dunks weren't that good. That doesn't mean the competitors were crappier. Howard's 1st dunk was ridiculous. After that, very, very meh.
  15. QUOTE(daa84 @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 08:52 AM) howards first dunk was absolutely ridiculous...he had to dunk it on the way down, while not hitting his head/shoulders on the backboard....as far as the superman thing goes...yeah cool idea, but seriuosly...that will be the most overrated drunk ever...he didnt even come close to making it...he was 2 feet short and threw the ball in the rim...i mena dont get me wrong the guy has serious ups and it was entertaining, but to get at 10 or even an 8 or 9 to me you actually have to DUNK it....the others were good, but i actually thought gerald green doing the between the legs without shoes on was nuts...dwights last dunk was average i thought...how was that any different than greens second? he had the ball propped instead of taking it from teh hands of rashad mccants...i dunno howard was still the clear winner, but it wasn't the ridiculous performance everyone said it was...though i will grant the fact that his first dunk may have been the best dunk ive seen...he just peaked in the beinning Yeah, I agree completely. Howard's Superman dunk was pretty crappy. He should have been penalized for not dunking it instead of being rewarded for a costume. The last dunk was completely terrible, and to say otherwise is just kissing up to Howard. It was actually the same thing Green did, but since Howard did it, people were all over it. Bah.
  16. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) you an illinois fan?? When I posted it Kansas was getting every call. It's been closer since. Kansas fans talking Orange Bowl s*** in the stands. One sign said: "Orange you glad you are a Tiger fan?" with a picture of an orange. The answer? Hell yes, we beat Kansas, had a better season, and won the North. End of story. Please continue talking s*** with your inferior football team while your basketball team is whipping ass on the court. Idiots.
  17. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 08:12 PM) Ed hightower doing the KU v. mizzou game, he is the anti-christ. Funny because Kansas is getting all the calls right now. It's bad enough Kansas is the better team and at home, do they need every close call?
  18. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 2, 2008 -> 05:34 PM) In his mind he was still draining 3's against my jayhawks. Yeah, that's retarded. He didn't even try to show range today. Everything was inside it seemed. Not a bad idea considering his size advantage against Missouri. If he is hitting outside shots I don't see how a college team can stop him.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 2, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) Is Beasley ok? I saw he had to leave the game and then I left to go play some ball myself, so I didn't see if he came back or not. He came back maybe 5 minutes later. Only had 17 and 10, but didn't play very well by his standards. The talent was evident as his finishing near the basket was ridiculous, but he had the quietest double-double.
  20. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) Tomorrow against Nebraska, Mizzou will have only eight players available and only six of those are scholarship players. Stefhon Hannah, Darryl Butterfield, Jason Horton, Marshall Brown and Leo Lyons are all suspended indefinitely. Great job here by our bball team. Even more hilarious...Mizzou is somehow still favored by 4.5 points. If you like money, you should probably bet Nebraska. Nebraska beat Mizzou twice last year and that was with a full roster of Tigers. Don't understand that line at all.
  21. These guys have some upside. Neither are old and Mota sounds like he has possible potential. Not excited, but definitely pleased we got any sort of possible value. We're not talking Jon Link at least, that's all I'm saying.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 26, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) Best 48-44 game of all time. Watching SIU this year makes my eyes hurt.
