  1. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 01:24 AM) What is the appeal of SMU? It's in the state of Texas.
  2. QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 10:36 AM) it's hard for me to worry about texas tech when we play so well against that offense. I mean damn, if we can find someone to replace garret (who straight up sucks), I feel our D will be just as good, if not better next year. Especially with the way Ziggy Hood played, spoon getting better, and willy mo being a straight up beast. offensively, what do you think the chances are T. Temples appeal goes through? no chance in hell? I'm not too worried about the D as long as Moore comes back. Keck, who was their best recruit a year ago, was hurt this year and should step in to a starting spot somewhere on the defense (DE/LB). Temple is almost certainly gone and it's not a huge loss IMO. He had some great games, but struggled with consistency. Derrick Washington is going to be amazing, he showed some serious talent this year and he should be solid enough with the pass heavy offense. In two years with Chase gone and Gabbert stepping in, Washington will be a key part of the transition.
  3. Yeah, agreed on McCoy sucking. Along with Charles they lose their top WR this year to go with Limas Sweed who got hurt midway through the year. They lose all 3 of their 1st team All Big 12 guys (Charles, DB Marcus Griffin, and an OL). Their 2 2nd team Big 12 guys, both DL including Frank Okam, are gone. They lose a few more key contributors. 3 of their starting secondary. It would be completely foolish to say they are going to be bad next year because they are Texas, they have the talent to replace these guys. However, with the focus of their offense this season gone, noticeable losses elsewhere, and Colt McCoy still starting at QB they can definitely struggle by their standards in what should be a strong year for the Big 12.
  4. If the Sox can get a 3rd starter, or one of their current pitchers to pitch like one, have Richar develop into a real Major Leaguer, have Fields improve upon his 07 campaign, have Quentin or Owens be productive, land another middle reliever or two, have the veteran bats do slightly better than last season collectively, have 5 respectable starters in the rotation, have Buehrle and Vazquez stay healthy, and have no major injuries in the lineup the White Sox might have a team that can contend for a playoff spot. If you want to get technical Crede could be traded to land one of the holes. Ha, that's funny.
  5. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 01:46 AM) KU won the orange bowl with 1 and 2 star recruits, the coaching staff did a wonderful job.....Talib will go pro and be replaced with Stuckey or Ryan Murphy. Hell, we only lose 5 starters in general!!!!! Wow, I didn't know the team was that young. McAnderson and Henry are gone, which hurts big time though. McAnderson might be replacable because I don't think he was that great, might be the o-line making him look good or teams keying on the pass. It's hard to predict a season that good again, I'm not sure I can pull the trigger on thinking Missouri will win more than 10 games even with all their guys coming back.
  6. For the record, I want to say that it doesn't prove they belonged as the espn.com front page says, but rather that they were a very good team this year. I've always thought (and think I might have said it here) that Kansas' d was better than its offense. Its offense plays clean and is above average, but not one of the top units in the country. The defense, however, is. The d pretty much outscored its offense tonight, partially because Va Tech's QBs suck and were mishandled (constantly switching is terrible), but that shows which side of the ball Kansas is better on to me. It was ridiculously hard to watch that game, but part of me wanted Kansas to win to make up for Oklahoma looking like s*** yesterday. The Big 12 should be very interesting next year. Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech all return most of their core. Kansas will probably lose Talib to the draft, but should still be a top 25 team (much harder schedule next year). Colorado should be better by a little bit and Nebraska can't be worse. I think Texas is gonna have a hard time in the Big 12 for the first time in a while with Charles gone.
  7. I've never noticed Tisdale before, but he sure looks awkward on the court. Is he any good or does he always look this unathletic?
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 11:00 PM) It sucks cause he is the only semblance of offense on the squad. He's an awesome shooter though, would have loved to had Tyler Smith playing with him and Iowa may have been able to at least get to the NIT. I'll really be stunned if they win more than 3 big ten games. I don't know, Michigan, Penn State, Illinois, and Northwestern also suck this year.
  9. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 10:42 PM) I used to think Stoops was one of the best coaches in the nation. Oops. That onside kick call, among other things, was ATROCIUS. I think he cost them the game with that call. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) The closeness of BCS games has nothing to do with determining the national champion, or really, the 1v2 game. Yeah, but it does show how awful the BCS bowls are at picking teams.
  10. Surprised with what I'm reading from the Illinois people about the game. Their offense got smoked in the 1st half and aside from 2 big plays didn't do all that much, or at least as much as what it sounds like. Pretty hilarious though that McGee threw the 56 yard TD on his only pass, he needed to be in earlier.
  11. Good win for the Big Ten. If one of Illinois or Ohio State wins, the conference will show all the crap about the Big Ten was just not true to quote Gundy. Texas Tech just scored 17 points in less than 4 minutes to beat Virginia. A fumble on 2 plays and a 3 and out after the first TD and Tech came back from 14 down late. Go Big 12. Illinois is probably going to get slaughtered and I'm not rooting for them, but I want to do my annual b****ing of how USC is at home for this game.
  12. Missouri made their point. Great season guys. It's a shame they couldn't at least draw Tennessee for the bowl. It doesn't really say much to blow out the 6th best team in the SEC, but I can't be upset with the performance. Tony Temple ran for 281 though, that's ridiculous. Cotton Bowl record, good for him.
  13. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 31, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) We were going to have enough problems winning tomorrow, but now Holtz gave us a pregame speech, ending any chance of a W. He gave a pep talk to Pitt against West Virginia. I don't understand why people bash the record of the teams he gives his pep talks to. They are usually heavy underdogs going in. Oh and Indiana is finally remembering they suck at football. 35-10 Oklahoma State at half.
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 29, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) Tom Brady is his generation's Montana; Manning is Marino. I know who I prefer. Manning has a Super Bowl, awful comparison.
  15. Randy Moss is the MVP. He's the singular difference from this Patriots team to the others.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) We're playing Russian Roulette if we lose tonight. Hope you're feeling lucky.
  17. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) MSU giving BC all it can handle... With one of the worst QB performances you'll see. MSU has dominated both lines and is losing this game, courtesy of 4 picks and 5 turnovers. Still a solid showing for a heavy underdog. Decent game.
  18. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 26, 2007 -> 09:33 AM) i'm not going to defend the chant, but the one time i went to the braggin rights game 2 years ago, we killed mizzou and that's all I heard on the way out from mizzou fans, "at least we have football" I don't care about that, it's just Illinois fans are essentially saying the same thing and Missouri beat them. There's less than no logic to that.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 24, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) I really hope that Paxson doesn't think this will make this team turn around. If he thinks it's a need for a new coach, and not new players, then he needs to be fired as well. It's the players faults now, but these same players made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs last year. They should be able to turn it around.
  20. This is funny. Two people from two fan different fan bases talking football s*** on a school that beat both of them in football. Whatever helps you sleep at night honeys. It would be so easy to talk basketball s***, yet you still want to talk football s*** when you lost. Hilarious. Continue talking football s***, I enjoy the laughs.
  21. I'm going to agree with most of what you said. I'm not sure the team quit on Skiles, but it's not looking good. The losing wasn't Skiles fault, but a new coach could fix it. I never liked Skiles, but you couldn't argue with the results until this year. Hopefully the Bulls can get a good coach instead of an interim, this team should still make the playoffs.
  22. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) I would say next year should be just as close. Illinois loses Pruitt and Randle, Mizzou really only loses Hannah. Lyons and Carroll should be able to dominate inside next year while Illinois should have a decisive perimeter advantage if Jamar and Legion are playing. Next year should once again be a good game, but the years after that Illinois will have a clear talent advantatge. However, with this rivalry, talent is big, but most games are just going to be close with such a great rivalry. Mizzou is gonna have a lot of freshmen next year. I'm not expecting much of anything.
  23. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) RB Coach Fred Jackson has been re-hired by Rodriguez. He may or may not coach RB's, however (although it looks like he will). Two other assistants may be re-hired as well. Current rumors have them as Steve Stripling (D-line) and either Scott Loeffler (QB's) or Erik Campbell (WR's). Then again the rumors seem to be changing daily. Seems awfully meaningless for the press it's getting. It's the assistant coaches at Michigan.
  24. Missouri played poorly. Illinois should have given Pruitt the ball more. He had 10 points in the first 11 minutes of the game and finished with 14. That's pretty inexcusable. Illinois' guards struggled with the press for bits so maybe they were unable to get him the ball or something. Also, Hannah did f up the same way last year and shot 2-12 in this game. He grew up rooting for Illinois according to the announcers. He seriously might have wanted Illinois to win. I'm not sure if I'm kidding or not either. Edit: apparently it was his twin Keon Lawrence who fumbled it this year. Hannah still sucked though. As for Carroll, he is too short to play the way he does. He is essentially worthless against good teams because good teams have tall people. Carroll is great against the likes of Coppin State because he can get the offensive rebounds to his repeated missed layups. It's a shame, I was really hoping to whip out the "Just like football" chant. Thank God for Chase Daniel because otherwise I'd be f***ing transferring right now.
  25. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 01:01 AM) I'd go Mangino, Pinkel, Zook, but, hey, I'm a Big 12 homer. No way Mangino doesn't get first, but I give it to Pinkel head to head against the Zooker. LOL, you and I both know Pinkel can't really coach. Surprised you put him in such high regard.
