QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 28, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) Win this game and we not only start getting consideration in the top 25 but we also start establishing the possiblity that we're Big Ten Championship material (*shudders in excitement*). Uhhh no. At least for the 2nd part. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 29, 2007 -> 01:03 AM) Ironically, the backup QB for West Virginia actually looked better than White did, by far.........but USF's speed simply takes away everything West Virginia does on offense. Not a surprise at all to see this evening play out as it did. And that crowd was a huge factor, WVU looked confused on offense all night pre-snap and I think that factored largely into several of their mistakes/turnovers. That's not a surprise though, anybody who has been to Raymond James down there in Tampa *raises hand* knows that is about as loud as it gets in terms of outdoor stadiums when full. Not to mention the fact that West Virginia is overrated....again and USF is the far superior team. I found it laughable that USF got 7 points in their own stadium. Easy money. Oh and Northwestern 16, Michigan 7 at half. Bizarro world. Hart is getting owned pretty bad, which is really surprising. Mallett is also struggling. NU has over 300 yards of offense in the 1st half and only 16 points. Obviously the 3 FGs means they have stalled in Michigan territory and an interception when they were inside the Wolverines' 30. If the Cats can fix that, game over. However, I don't expect Mike Hart to continue to average less than 3 yards per carry. -
September 27th: Kansas City vs. Chicago

Stupid Royals can't get on tv in their own state. I would have liked to see Broadway. How did he look other than the obviously good numbers? It's good to know he can at least pitch well against a AAAA lineup. -
This is old to bring it back, but I realized that everytime I switch between my home and school wireless and go on here it logs me out. So I'll be on Soxtalk at my apartment and then check it during class and it will log me out. I'll have to log in again when I go back home and check it. If I don't check here during class I stay logged in. It's weird.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 02:00 PM) Gallagher, Retherford and Sanchez are all 22, but they are all true rookies in their first year of professional ball. Sanchez was in his 3rd season. He's not a prospect at the moment.

I want Barry Bonds in the Cell
danman31 replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
If you like winning you want Bonds on your team. You simply can't argue against that. If you'd rather have a classy losing team, then you don't want Barry Bonds. I'd love for the Sox to sign Bonds because the team would win more games. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 09:40 PM) I think A&M falls a clear step below Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Tech. Stephen McGee just isn't a good QB. Yeah they looked awful. It goes to show how much better than the rest of the Big 12 Oklahoma is. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 12:52 AM) It's been a while since I've seen Eggy's name. Thanks, Cheat. Just do him now and get it out of your system.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) Less shocking than Duke getting a win before Notre Dame? This is going to sound overreactionary (if that's even a word), but Pat Fitzgerald is a terrible coach. He needs to get his s*** straight. This is 2 years in a row with god awful losses (you could even say last year had 2 embarrassing losses with the Mich St comeback). Granted the team's best offensive player was out, but they still ran the ball decently well. He says all the right things, but the results are pathetic. -
Great Falls lost 3-2 in 16. Poreda was dominant as usual. They had the bases loaded no outs in the 11th (or something around there) and didn't score at all, yuck.

Noel Devine > Steve Slaton -
C.J. Retherford needs more love. I know the guy didn't get drafted and is 22, but he just turned 22 in August and has the best overall numbers on the team. He had 47 XBH in 261 AB!!

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 10:36 PM) Juice still can't pass worth a s***, I'd be giving McGee some PT this week. Absolutely. Juice looks like one of those QBs that doesn't improve from his freshman year to his senior year (see Brad Smith). McGee has far greater upside. -

Haha, I was making a sarcastic fire Pat Fitzgerald post when NU got stopped on 4th down with a few minutes to go. I thought Nevada would be able to run out the clock. The offense goes 80 yards in 6 plays with no timeouts and they win the game. Cardiac Cats, geez. Still a poor performance though. -

West Virginia is far superior to Marshall, but they are way overrated again. It's silly that the pollsters have them at 3, it really is. -

This thread died fast, but my Glenbrook North apparently doesn't suck so I'll bump it. They beat Maine South, who was top 5 in both the papers, 13-10 by some miracle. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 11:21 PM) you think Gallagher might start next season in Birmingham? No.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 11:59 AM) To me the spread offense is the future of college football. I think it's a big part of the present as well. -

He hasn't walked with the I's and has shown little power, but he's a former 3rd rounder that plays catcher and is only 21. There is some potential there.) Great Falls won 10-4 7 guys with multi hit days including 3 each from Paiml and Estill. I didn't see a mention elsewhere but they clinched the 2nd half division title yesterday. Ely 5 IP, 1 R, 3 K, 0 BB, 4 hits Juan Moreno was named pitcher of the year in the league. Salvador Sanchez joined him on the postseason all-star team. What do you U of I fans think of this weekend's game in St. Louis? I'll be there, anyone else making the trek? -
QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) I would not be surprised though to see the Sox move the rookie league team (Bristol) into the Gulf Coast League but we'll see. Don't you need a Spring Training complex in the Grapefruit League to have a team in the Gulf Coast League?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:40 PM) You know what would be handy? If MILB.com had a map of the U.S., showing where all the various teams were. Something interactive, where you could pick what level to show (AAA, AA, etc.), or what league, or a close up on a region. It would be very easy to do using rastering. They have something similar

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:31 PM) Hm... well, Kane County is Low A Athletics, right? What are the Schaumburg Flyers? And doesn't Waukegan or one of the far north burbs have a team? ETA: Peoria Cubs are high A, yes? Low A has the Midwest League which would make it easy to pick a team in the area. That's Kane County and Peoria. Schaumburg is independent and I don't know of this Waukegan team.
