  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 03:38 AM) I saw that tackle he got in injury time (might have been from Terry). It wasn't Terry. It was some guy I'd never heard of, which for Chelsea is actually significant.
  2. On a different note Soxtalk's man love Logan Johnson is 0 for his last 18.
  3. I'm sick of this All-Star OF crap. Lee was traded in a deal that I don't think we win the WS without, Maggs wouldn't resign, and Rowand isn't a good hitter despite his fluke numbers. As for Harris, this is proof that Atlanta has the best coaching in the game. Watch him find another team and start sucking again because he isn't good.
  4. Count Maggs You're way off. I don't see any argument as to why you can't include Maggs as a good hitter the Sox developed.
  5. Why can you include Carlos and not Maggs?
  6. Russell made his debut out of the Barons pen. 2 innings, one K, and one hit allowed. Let's get him fast tracked to the bigs for a September callup. Phillips can get knocked off the 40-man roster for all I care. Sisco is doing better in AAA, he could earn another shot soon. I'm with the throw guys into the fire theory for the bullpen. Somebody has to stick or the Sox will have only one trusted reliever going into the off season. It should also be interesting to see who takes Russell's spot in the Barons' rotation. They have an off day tomorrow so they can wait another few days, but there are no obvious candidates. Honel may get it, but he hasn't been going deep into games. There are no other obvious candidates from W-S, but I could see McCulloch getting bumped because they might want to push him because he was a first rounder who has been doing fairly well.
  7. Richar had his 13 game hit streak get snapped. Broadway was average. Wing threw a gem. Carter hit bomb #21, but his average dropped to .285 with a 1-4 showing. I'm no longer on the promote Carter bandwagon, he's been struggling, but I wouldn't be opposed to him getting moved up. Ely was solid for GF, and the offense scored 17 runs on 25 hits. The GF Sox won their 14th game in their last 16 (they just had a 9 game win streak snapped yesterday). Morales pitched well and Bristol concluded the day by giving up just 1 run in 16 innings. I'm too lazy to post box scores or anything else, but that's a halfway decent summary.
  8. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 04:19 AM) And anyone that talks about Owens hitting .320 for a month and using that as justification for him as a starter has to be absolutely kidding themselves. Seriously, if one f***ing month turns a player from piece of the trash heap to starting material then oddammit, let's trade Sweeney for Timo goddamn Perez again. Do you not recall the .339/.413/.500/.913 he put up in June of 2004? More seriously, it's ONE GODDAMN MONTH; Owens is and never will be anything more than a 4th outfielder for a good team or fringe starter for a bad team; if you want him to start, I really thank God KW is the GM amd Ozzie is the manager. That one month is also half of his MLB career. He has a shot to prove it's not a fluke. I'm not writing him off, that would be foolish.
  9. To continue Gene's Sweeney argument, his road numbers look like this: .258/.336/.347. That makes for a .683 OPS, yuck. At least he draws walks, but that's about his only improvement in AAA from a year ago. If he had the same number of at-bats as last year he would have 14 home runs, one more than a year ago. His average is one point higher than last year and his slugging is exactly the same. So again, his walk rate is his only improvement. Granted he has gotten better by the month, but I'm still not sold on him ever being anything more than an average starter in the Majors.
  10. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) I think it is still 10 minutes or so off. Mine is currently 42 minutes off, though I could have sworn it was right on earlier.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) Clock is still messed up It seems fine to me. I did have to adjust daylight savings time though.
  12. Adam Russell FutureSox Interview Sometimes it's best to listen to the person instead of speculating.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 01:23 AM) The interesting thing is that Adam Russel is going to be moved to the pen. It's not interesting and not surprising. The guy said it himself in a FutureSox interview a year ago.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) Jo-Jo Reyes and Jarrod Saltamachia for Javier Vazquez? Who likes that deal? Do I hear any takers? Check out this article by baseball opinion writer Christopher Solberg. http://www.baseball-opinion.com/2007/071207.htm Done. I was in the keep Javy bandwagon until I read that rumor. I still wouldn't want to trade Javy, but I certainly wouldn't turn down that offer.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 14, 2007 -> 01:55 AM) MLE is 5.35, plus the 2.5 million extra under the cap, added to the fact they could have sign and traded Noc for him. You do the math. Darko, at a cheaper cost, and as the starting PF for 2 year, starting C from then on, is much, MUCH better than 8 mil for Noc as a bench guy. But Darko isn't that good.
  16. Tonight Fautino threw the first 7 innings of a 1 hitter. He k'd 10 and didn't walk a batter while giving up the only hit of the game in the 2nd. He hit a guy in the 4th, but that was it. He has now struck out 108 in 87.2 IP with only 45 hits against (!). That's good for a .152 opponents' average lol. He is just 21 and in his first season in America, but a promotion to Winston-Salem probably should be in the cards unless the White Sox like looking at DLS' stats (it would be hard to blame them heh). Maybe they are trying to get him to have twice as many innings pitched as hits allowed (2.1 innings of hitless ball will get him there). Maybe they want to take it slow with him this first year and be aggressive with him next year and beyond.
  17. Some damn fine pitching in the org. tonight. Floyd ran into trouble late in his start, but who knew Egbert could strike out 13 in 7 innings? Geez... After seeing DLS in the Futures Game it really is no surprise to see him put up numbers like this. His stuff really is that good.
  18. Dead arm period? I wouldn't get worried yet. It's not uncommon to shut down or limit college first round pitchers anyway.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 07:22 PM) Coming into today's game: Team Record in Appearances: 3-11 / in Starts: 3-9 So we can blame Toby Hall for the team sucking this year?

  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 05:03 AM) You suprised at all that Carter hasn't been moved up to WS yet Dan? A little, but I'm more surprised with the lack of promotions in the organization period.

  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) He's quite possibly the least knowledgeable radio personality I have ever heard. He's also a complete asshole who should have been fired long ago. I don't know how anyone who knows anything about any sport could stand that guy. He's completely clueless. He's an ass that tries to make funny sound bites.
