QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 12, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) As far as I know, all the major leagues have 3 up and 3 down. EPL has 3, Ligue 1 ha 3, La Liga has 3, Bundesliga has 3, and Serie A has 3. Some have a playoff between the 3/4 teams and some have an automatic relegation/promotion if they are within/above a certain amount of points. It's 10 in most leagues. Yeah, the lower leagues in England promote/demote 4. Otherwise you are right though.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 12, 2007 -> 11:51 AM) Can someone explain to me how the promotion stuff works. If you finish out of the top half that means you get demoted, yet you still play the same teams (but are you like unable to compete for the championship or something)? The bottom 3-4 teams get moved down to the lower league. In the Premier League it's 3 teams that move down, but it's more in others.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) West Ham looked like piss in there game so I'm sure somewhere Dbaho is crying That's the biggest problem with European soccer. Teams like West Ham are supposed to suck every year.

He's stopped being human, this is ridiculous.

Yeah, that's perfect. Anybody know anything about the Championship this year? I'm sort of a Cardiff City fan and after leading about 1/3 of the way through they finished just outside the top half. Anybody know if they are favored/who is favored to earn promotion this year?

So the box score changed...apparently Griffith only pitched the first 2 innings. He k'd 2 and gave up 3 hits, no runs. Odd.

Final line for Fautino: 5 IP, 1 R, 6 K, 1 BB, 4 hits. I listened to parts of the game and the Warthogs' announcer said he had trouble locating his offspeed stuff tonight, notably his curve. However, his fastball sounded dominant and he got most, if not all, of his Ks on it. He was limited to 5 innings or 75 pitches, they are still taking it slowly with him, but a nice debut. He even struck out the last two batters he faced and retired the last 6 batters he faced.
-
Fields followed up the HR with a nice play in the field. Good to see him bounce back after yesterday when he was bad.
-
DLS going against Ross Detwiler, the 6th pick of the 07 draft, who is making his high A debut as well after 4 starts in the GCL. Heck of a pitching matchup.

I want to change my vote after today. I don't have any faith in this team winning 5 in a row and to be honest have no clue how they won 4 in a row recently. Silly me. I still think they can play over .500 the rest of the way, but to finish at .500 overall would take a very impressive stretch.

Adam Tollefson is my boy.

David Cook continues his Superman impersonation with another homer. A 3-run shot tonight gives him 5 HR in 7 games while hitting .423. Ha.

Ankiel is a cool story, but the Cardinals problem is that they have the worst rotation known to man. -
Props for the scrubs bit in the sig btw. I love that bit.

BMac pitched in Charlotte for a month before coming up.

Brian Anderson and Dye have a ton of songs and Anderson's taste in music sucks. Conor Jackson has fall out boy and dem franchize boys, heck of a combo. I've become a fan of "Can't Be Stopped" by Roy Jones Jr. It's a good intro song.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) I'm switching majors at semester. I hate journalism, going into teaching/coaching. Yeah, I'm starting to get a little afraid of going into journalism as a profession. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 01:24 AM) I'm going to be a senior in HS and I'm going to be applying soon. My list is Southern Illinois, Missouri, and Memphis. SIU is looking like the clear cut favorite for me because my bro goes there and i love Carbondale! I know a few of you guys went or are going to SIU or Mizzou and i'd like to know what you guys think of each! Thanks a ton! What are you looking for in a school? You'll probably like wherever you go as most colleges are essentially the same thing. All three of those places are far from home so that's not really a factor, but the comfort level you have with Carbondale is probably big. I like Mizzou, but it kills me that I'm so far from home at times. I think the town of the school is more important than the school/campus itself. Memphis is obviously a bigger city, Columbia sits in the middle range, and Carbondale is smaller. I haven't been to Carbondale, but I've been to Charleston (EIU), which is a bit smaller than Carbondale. I just couldn't see myself spending an extended period of time in Charleston without going nuts. I would probably drive home every weekend, and when it's that bad I don't think you should even be going to the school.

QUOTE(dasox24 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) I didn't have a class until 12:15 on MWF my frosh year, and 11:15 on T/Thurs. First semester I had one class a week MWF and it was a lecture from 1-1:50. My punishment was 3 classes Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I still only started at 10.

So apparently Fautino got promoted to Winston-Salem. That makes his final Kanny numbers look like this: 21 G (15 starts), 9-4, 2.40 ERA, 97.2 IP, 33 R (26 ER), 121 K, 36 BB, 49 hits (5 HR) BAA: .148 GO/AO: 1.03 His 0.87 WHIP ranked him second in the league. He was t-2nd in strikeouts with the best K/9 (11.15) among starters. He was also 4th in ERA. I feel like I should also note that he was one out away from having twice as many innings pitched as hits allowed.

QUOTE(Calderon @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) What in the world has gotten into David Cook? I was just wondering the same thing. It's a shame he's already 26. He's having a solid season (though I know he was repeating W-S and repeated Kanny). Also, Collaro is 5-10 with 3 doubles and 3 walks at Charlotte. He also has 3 Ks, but that's a good start.
-
Odd timing considering Kanny was going to be stretched thin with 2 doubleheaders in a row and DLS was just getting stretched back into being a starter.
