It's official. I feel bad for Skiles. He worked his ass off to get these guys to play hard. However, it has been a theme in the past that guys tune him out after a while. It's going to be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

I blame the team bigtime. they played with no fire, no passion, looked like they dont care. Complete 180 from the previous 3 years.

Paxson needs to look in the mirror he thinks his young guys are so dam good they are not! Dumb move!

agreed. there are some GAPING holes in this team. Specifically, they are a shooting team only. That works great in college ball, but not the NBA.

I think Skiles isn't a very good coach (I put a bunch of stuff in the NBA thread about it), and I don't blame Pax for firing him at all, but this team has a lot more issues than this. A lot more work needs to be done if anything will be fixed.

Wow. I've only read reports and knew the team was struggling, but I didn't see this coming. I wonder if there is a college gig or something and he asked to be let go? Of course he's under a contract and I'll bet he's getting more than two weeks severence.

I think he has 2 years left on a guaranteed contract. They will have to pay him unless he coaches somewhere else I would guess.

I really hope that Paxson doesn't think this will make this team turn around. If he thinks it's a need for a new coach, and not new players, then he needs to be fired as well.

 

I feel bad for Skiles. Makes the playoffs 3/4 years with the Bulls, 2/3 with the Suns, and he gets his ass booted from both organizations. He's a good coach. These dumbass players these days who are so selfish and care about themselves rather then their team is what makes him get fired. He's an old school, hard-nosed coach, and these b****y players these days like Tyrus Thomas just can't handle it. It's a shame.

It's the players faults now, but these same players made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs last year. They should be able to turn it around.
