They might have him make 3 or 4 starts at GF and then move up.

Louisville reporter ejected from game for blogging it

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) On a complete sidenote, those UL baseball hats are pimp. Too bad I just spent a half hour on the web trying to find somebody that actually sells these damn things.....including the school themselves. I have a Louisville hat, but nowhere near as cool as what the baseball team sports http://www.topprospectalert.com/louisville...dinals-hats.htm -
Courier-Journal reporter ejected from U of L game I wasn't sure where to put this, but I felt it deserved its own thread as opposed to the college baseball thread. As a journalism major, this is the kind of stuff we talk about a lot. It's interesting that the NCAA threatened the university with future hosts as a problem if they didn't take care of it. I don't see the problem, but what do you guys think?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) Well consider that Ned Colletti traded Joel Guzman for Mark Hendrickson last season, so he's definitely shown he's not gun shy when it comes to trading his best prospects to help win now. Anything is possible with Colletti and KW dealing with each other. Yeah and Guzman hasn't hit AAA at all since getting traded so that actually has worked out. As for the Dye/Billingsley rumor I'd be on board. The one thing is that the Sox future outfield looks ugly. Anderson is not looking good and Sweeney isn't going to be a good Major Leaguer for another year or 2 (if ever). I know if you can get good value, jump on it, but what is the outfield going to be like next year? No Dye, Erstad would be older and is a likely injury concern, and Pods is an injury concern. Coupled with the lack of production from Anderson and Sweeney and that gives the White Sox a grand total of 0 productive, reliable outfielders. I guess that's an offseason issue, but if the Sox are going to dump the season, which a Dye trade would signify, they should seriously look at the outfield situation. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 12:40 AM) Id love to trade Dye for Billingsly and Vazquez to the Mets for maybe I cant remember their pitchings prospect name I think Humber and than Milledge. Pelfrey?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 12:24 AM) I f***ing love the Big West representing....UCI and Fullerton in, plus you have ASU making in and overall the West Coast was very strong in this tourney and there is a good chance one of the teams playing in the World Series will be from the West Coast. If Oregon State wins, it's a lock a west coast team will be in the championship series.
-
Clark Hardman: "Light tower power" Man did he crush that ball. Also, the announcer said this is Fullerton's 5th straight year hosting a SUPER regional. That's not fair...
-
Make me #2. Suzuki was sick at Fullerton. Is he still a catcher though? Everybody knew his bat would be good, but some didn't think he could stick at catcher.

Fields wins May award Josh Fields started this season struggling mightily in AAA Charlotte after having his best professional season there last year. However, he bounced back in May to earn the first ever FutureSox Prospect of the Month award. more...

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 05:27 PM) Michigan's pitcher, Putnam, had a no hitter through 8 2/3 innings. With 2 outs in the 9th, he gave up a single with a guy on 2nd. Oregon State is now winning 1-0. Yeah, that's not fair at all. I really hope Michigan wins this one for him. 2nd seeded Rice, Mississippi State, and UC Irvine are already into the College World Series.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 12:02 AM) I would assume the Michael Jones is on the Ariz St. team with KW's son and is one of his friends. KW Jr. went to Arizona, but transferred to Wichita St. I went digging and found this: Whoops

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) So who have been the best selections on the 2nd day if you had to pick a couple, value wise? Story on Kenneth Gilbert Hard not to read that and like him. It could be the typical hype that a pro prospect would get in high school, but you never know. This link says he is a good contact hitter with good speed and projectable power. He also doesn't have a college commitment that I can find. It's always interesting to see who ends up slipping through the cracks. He's got good grades and had top college programs going after him, maybe he just wanted to go pro? Who knows, but he sounds like he would be a good sign for the 9th round.

The Twins just took a 3B out of Niles North. CSL North represent.

43. Baldwin Vargas, RHP, New Jersey City U, 6'1", 230 DIII Junior with an ERA north of 6 and mediocre K numbers. 44. John Grim, 1B, Hersey HS, R/R, 6', 185 Another local kid... 45. Ronald Morales, LHP, Wichita St, 6'3", 195 A senior that made 7 appearances, all out of the pen, this year with an ERA of 8.10. 4 K in 3.1 IP. Ok... Profile Tigers and Astros called it a draft. The White Sox stop after 45 rounds. It's pretty clear how the end of draft and follows have shortened the draft for a lot of teams. Might as well make the draft 45 rounds from here on out.
-
Jones is a draft eligible soph that didn't even start this year. He is also a WR for the Sun Devils. He could be talented because Arizona St. has one of the best offenses in the country. I'll give him a 1% chance of signing.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) A 5'3" shorstop is hilarious. I know, I'm surprised he got drafted, but believe it or not he is the best defender I saw all year. 40. Austin King, 2B, Gallia Academy (HS), R/R, 6'2", 200 The Mets and Dodgers stopped drafting in the 40th round. 41. Devon Shines, 1B, Westwood HS, R/L, 5'10", 195 I'm gonna guess Razor's son.
-
38. Grant Monroe, RHP, Schaumburg HS 6'4" 205 A local kid now. His name is familiar, I actually think he plays basketball and is decent. The Twins also drafted a 5'3" SS from Louisville named Chris Cates. He's not much of a hitter, respectable in college, but a sick defender. If this guy makes the Majors, I quit being a fan. He would undoubtedly destroy the White Sox with countless bunts on that garbage surface. 39. Roderick Jones, CF, Chamblee HS, R/R, 5'9", 185

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) Lack of draft and follows really affecting the draft apparently. BlueJays and Padres already out now. Will be interesting to see if MLB shortens the draft again. It wouldn't hurt with the much longer first round now.
-
Yeah, I went looking for a Guillen Oney and then realized he wasn't even on North Park's roster and they got the name wrong, it's Ozzie's son. Now we wait for someone to freak out that the Sox drafted a kid that doesn't even play baseball anymore.

From a Perfect Game 2005 underclassmen showcase. Link ranking prospects 3-Christopher Epps-OF-Dunwoody HS-Stone Mountain, GA-6'1"/165-(2007)-Was one of the top hitters at the event and showed big arm strength in the OF. He posted a 6.96 sixty time. Very good bat speed and an advanced approach at the plate. He has a short and powerful stroke. Knows how to use his hands and goes after the ball.

Kyle Kaminska of Naperville Central got drafted by the Marlins this round. Daniel Albritton, RHP, Florida Southern College He's a senior, easy sign.
