  1. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 21, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) -Not really a complaint about this movie, but watching Luke and Leia together for that one short scene, I think we’re going to look back in 10 years and realize what a mistake it was to not put Han, Luke and Leia back together at least once on screen. They had the opportunity, and didn’t make it happen. That's a great point. It seems like the plan was to have one movie focus on each character and their death. 7 was Han and his death. 8 featured a lot of Luke and included his "death." If 9 was supposed to be all about Leia, damn that sucks, but we can only assume she will die in it.
  2. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 20, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) Yeah, 1 is actually my least favorite. Maul is a cool character, but I at least sort of enjoyed the huge Jedi fight in the arena in Attack of the Clones, and love me some Jango Fett. 1 was just such a kids movie, it's really hard for me to watch. The Pod Racing, Jar Jar, all of the Gugan stuff really, Jake Lloyd being...not a good child actor. Just a rough one. I think 1 is the worst, but it still had some redeemable things about it. And to be clear about the pod racing scene: I think the concept of it was cool, the way it was presented (the announcing was embarrassing) was bad. It had so many lame ass cliches for a racing scene and went on too long.
  3. Yeah Maul was great. I wasn't happy with how weird he was in The Clone Wars cartoon. Episode 1 had some cool things (Maul/his fight, Obiwan, Qui Gon, pod racing), but also had atrocious dialogue, way too much Jar-Jar, crappy kid Anakin.
  4. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 10:43 PM) Why would Kylo have any knowledge of Rey's parents if they're nobodies and she's a nobody? Dude is full of baloney And besides, that's not something worth complaining about. I thought that was more reasonable than forcing her into someone's lineage just because the Skywalkers are a lineage.
  5. QUOTE (Quin @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 07:02 PM) Already have friends saying people aren't true Star Wars fans if they dislike The Last Jedi. I'm sure that is their feelings on the prequels. This is fine because The Last Jedi left me wondering if I actually am a Star Wars fan, and I watch the damn cartoons.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) They said this trilogy was going to end the Skywalker saga, but it’s over pretty much. I really don’t feel like Kylo will be redeemed Yeah, I've been thinking about this too. It seems like this movie could have been Episode 9 with an epilogue of Leia dying and Kylo's ending adding 10-15 minutes to the story. Episode 8 should have been how the First Order became this juggernaut, move some of the Luke/Rey stuff over to keep 9 from being too long. As far as my understanding, they were upstarts in 7 and then lost in 7 so how are things drastically worse in 8, which takes place right after the ending of 7?
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 16, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) 3 5 R1 4 8 6 7 1 2 Are we all gonna let this slide that he just put 3 as his favorite Star Wars movie, or was it too obvious of a troll job?
  8. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 06:26 PM) Also, Rogue One is the only Star Wars film since Empire that got the tone right. Well, it was the only film that knew exactly what it wanted to be and stayed consistent. The tone in The Last Jedi was a mess. I absolutely agree with this. Rogue One nailed both the comedy and the dark story. Last Jedi struggled with the comedy, big time, in what was a dark story. The goofy moments didn't fit a dark story. I'll echo most of what I've read here. Too many cringe-worthy moments. I actually applaud this movie for trying something different. There was a lot of Empire in it (especially the scene with Rey meeting Snoke), but it did a lot of things different as well. Some of the things they tried worked really well. I really liked Luke's role in this. I think it made sense the way they presented it. They could have been more clear on the Luke/Kylo story. The way they told it was confusing. I think he had maybe the only good comedy in the movie. Throwing away the saber Rey gives him after all the build up to that was brilliant. Him dusting off his shoulder after drawing all the fire was good. I'm fine with his ending. It felt weird, but it didn't upset me. What does upset me in the grander scale is that we've now had Han feature in a Some of the things they tried came off as forced or illogical. Too many cringe moments. Leia floating in space is right up there as one of the worst scenes in the franchise. It was just an uneven movie, but at least they didn't do all of the predictable things. Force Awakens didn't really have an original story, but it was certainly fun. This movie went big on the story, which I prefer they try, even if it didn't land. The end result was a movie that wasn't much fun and didn't have a good story. Oh well. Force Awakens for all of my many complaints with it made me incredibly excited for 8. Rogue One, which I enjoyed, made me want to see 4 immediately. This one kind of made me just go 'Ehh, oh well,' without a thought towards what's left. No story line I can think of interests me for 9. Just whatever. Also, is it just me or was anyone else surprised that the First Order was so dominant in the opening scroll? I thought they were the upstart after losing in 6 and the Resistance was in good shape. After winning in 7, suddenly things are way worse just days later in the beginning of 8? 6 4 5 R1 7 8 3 2 1
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) ugh, things were actually looking up for missouri and now our OC just left for UCF, which means Lock likely goes pro... Yeesh. Keep the faith
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 3, 2017 -> 09:41 PM) I’d go 8 teams, 5 conference title game winners and 3 wild cards. See how that goes. SEC, B10, B12, P12, ACC. Notre Dame would be only real independent threat. Only problem with that is how would conference title game losers be rated? That's always the problem with conference title games. The team that won to get into the title game (Auburn) is punished for beating the team it knocked out of the title game (Alabama), which got a bye. Auburn was still in the top 8 after losing to Georgia, but that scenario happens quite a bit.
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) If this was 2012 I would agree. But Leachs public perception has done a massive 180 since then. He's become a big time media darling and a man of the people. Still a big personality sure but I think it would work out quite well. Harbaugh is the comparison personality wise and that's worked out fine for Michigan (if not on the field). I don't think he's that similar to Harbaugh, but they are both headline grabbers for things they say. I think Leach's teams have weaknesses, but he's never been at a place with the resources of Tennessee. Texas Tech and Washington State are bottom tier as far as major conference programs. I don't think SEC country is a good fit for his personality, but he'll win enough. They'll have to be patient. That offense will look like a mess until he gets his QBs in there.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) Mizzou played UCF last night and I had never watched Tacko fall before and OMG is it crazy how much taller he looks than everyone else. Pretty sure he could grab the top of the backboard standing Yeah, he was fun to watch. Mizzou is probably gonna be on the bubble all year (maybe that's the best-case scenario), but I'm just excited to have a competitive team back. Also, after watching the Northwestern-Illinois game tonight I'm actually confident Mizzou wins Bragging Rights.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 07:12 PM) As a person. Alex, this is college athletics. No one cares what kind of person anyone is.
  14. Man, I love the lunacy in the last couple pages of this thread. College football fans are an overly defensive bunch who can't see straight when they look in the mirror. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 27, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) He's the truth. For going 7-5?
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 10:30 AM) Nebraska has great facilities and great fans. But Prop 48 and steroids aren’t coming back. They aren’t a “blue blood” I had a similar thought when he called Nebraska a blue blood. It's hard to be a blue blood still when the program is averaging 5 losses per year for over a decade.
  16. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 23, 2017 -> 12:14 AM) I want to be able to play as Jabba, fondling slave women all day
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 22, 2017 -> 10:51 PM) It's so strange seeing all of the promo patches on the jerseys in the AFL... I really hope that MLB never goes down that soul selling road ala MLS. Sports franchises won't be able to turn down the free money. It's inevitable in all sports. They're gradually doing it so you get used to the idea and don't throw a fit when it does happen. It will happen in our lifetimes. If fans of European soccer teams eventually got over it (teams that in some cases predate anything we have over here), we will too.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 22, 2017 -> 07:20 PM) Star Wars has a MMORPG on computer, Star Wars the Old Republic. It was a pretty good game, but EA just completely neglected it. They really just need a new developer besides for EA. Who would take over? Ubisoft? They're the only other one that would come to mind that is capable of putting out the amount of content. Disney is probably best off going the Marvel track and handpicking studios fit for each genre as opposed to limiting themselves to a single publisher.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) The problem is until he plays a real schedule you won't know. Working out isn't going to answer those questions the same way a college basketball season will. There are too many teams in NBA hell at the back half of the lottery that are looking to make such a gamble to get an elite talent.
  20. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 09:35 PM) Alright, so I guess the way I would put it is I'm a large Star Wars fan, and if I bought the game just for the single player, I'd be fairly disappointed. OK yeah, so I'll wait until it's
  21. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) Tracey Myers is leaving NBC Sports Chicago for NHL.com, but the job will keep her in Chicago. Have a hunch this is similar to the Hayes situation, but they gave her some time to find something else. This is not my understanding of how it went down.
  22. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 11:41 PM) How much do you want to know? Played through it a few days ago. It's a fun story, especially if you are even mildly interested in Star Wars. I will say if you aren't going to play multiplayer, $60 for the single player campaign isn't worth it. I heard it was unspectacular and a basic story. I know the length so I'm going to wait for a sale and get it in a year or 2. Just curious if it's even worth playing at all. I am a Star Wars fan so I'll probably get some enjoyment out of it.
  23. I've heard bad things about the Battlefront 2 campaign. Anyone play it? The multiplayer stuff doesn't interest me that much so I was hoping the single player would be good.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 07:10 PM) They are increasing it to a 48 team tourney in 2022. 2026 is the expansion. There's one more World Cup with 32 teams after Russia next year.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 10:07 AM) Brilliance of the show is they use the "serial" template so effectively you start to forget that the premise is so stupid and really want to know who did it. It's funny throughout but it's not relying on just making fun of the whodunnit genre. Yeah, it does shift from total parody and absurd humor to a bit more serious down the stretch. The whole thing comes in at around 4 1/2 hours so it's not a huge investment compared to some shows. The dialogue and the characters are excellent for high school. Few shows get high school as right as they did.
