  1. American Vandal is Netflix's new sleeper hit this year. It's so funny and so smart. The style of humor may not be for everyone, but if you're not dying laughing in the first 10-15 minutes, you'll know it's not for you. If you liked Serial and Making a Murderer, this is an excellent parody of both.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 10:03 PM) In related news, would you like to know anything else about the future? This ruined the trash I was going to talk to you.
  3. QUOTE (aryzner @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 07:32 AM) Losing to Puerto Rico in a f***ing basketball game didn't knock us out of the biggest sporting event on the planet. There is no comparison for me, sorry. Ha OK man. You're talking about the total failure. I just gave a one-off comparison. Tuesday's loss was an embarrassment, but this team had struggled multiple times before to put themselves in this position. A lot of smaller failures before tonight.
  4. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) Congrats FOX Sports! Ha, this made me laugh the first time I saw someone bring up FOX. Whoops! QUOTE (aryzner @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 11:34 PM) This is the biggest embarrassment in U.S. sports history. Yes all sports. USA Basketball lost to Puerto Rico. By 19. I get your anger, just throwing out a comparison.
  5. Oklahoma with a pathetic loss. Odds are they're just not that good, but if OU somehow runs the table I hope this loss isn't forgiven.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:17 PM) I can't imagine Dortmund enjoys watching him come to CONCACAF and get manhandled. But he's done well fighting through it. Don't want to think about where the US would be without him This runs through my head every time I see him getting kicked with the national team. Last thing you want is a sour relationship with the club team that has your best player. That said, Dortmund is probably thrilled with the marketing exposure he gives them in this country.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 2, 2017 -> 11:39 AM) Another year without competitive college football for me But so many points
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 01:06 PM) Oh I know what they were and I know you do too (Dan and I both went to war for Yurchak during the FS midseason prospect rankings). My point was this guy has hit every chance he has. He has hit in a way that seems sustainable moving up. 2015 Wake Forest Freshmen Gavin Sheets: .250/.319/.336 with 13 walks and 21 strikeouts in 145 plate appearances. Justin Yurchak: .313/.424/.456 with 30 walks and 22 strikeouts in 192 plate appearances. It's worth pointing out for those who have never followed college baseball just how good those freshman year numbers are from Yurchak. It's really rare for a freshman to step in the ACC and produce like that, especially with that kind of plate discipline. A lot of guys take half a year or a year to truly hit their stride. Some good players don't end up even playing much. Sheets is a great example of that.
  9. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) How were his numbers as a freshman at Wake Forrest though? .313/.424/.456 with 30 walks and 22 strikeouts in 192 plate appearances. Schnurbusch failed to hit even .280 in two years at Pittsburgh when he was two years older.
  10. I don't think the power he has shown with Great Falls is real, but his walk and contact rates are very real. He struck out 12 times this college season. Granted, it's D2, but that's still crazy.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 08:26 PM) Remember, thebessss has 4 s's Clarkin had 3.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 04:42 PM) If I could make myself as a tennis player in a video game, mostly for aesthetics I'd give myself Tiafoe's forehand and Roger's backhand. Was fun last night. I love Fed, but if we're picking it would be Nadal's forehand and Wawrinka's backhand. I realize Nadal is a lefty and Wawrinka is a righty so that's the same side, but you know what I mean.
  13. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 09:40 PM) OK, I'm clueless. What is #thebesss? https://twitter.com/iClarkin/status/893659756077961216 https://twitter.com/iClarkin/status/893660039772241922
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 10:48 PM) I'm a huge RF fan but Tiafoe is bringing it! That was cool. Been a great first two nights of first-rounders. Sharapova-Halep lived up to expectations and Federer-Tiafoe was surprisingly great. Even Zverev's match was strangely competitive (although not that good).
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 08:36 PM) Jimenez 2-3, 2B, RBI #thebesss I am obligated to acknowledge any time someone uses thebesss. This needs to become a thing, people.
  16. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 26, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) Kopech doing quite well with this promotion. The walks are back though. 5 in 10 innings. The best part about his recent run in AA was that he significantly cut down on his walks. It's great to see that he can still strike people out and limit hits in AAA, but I really want to see those walks go down again.
  17. I got some crap for putting Yurchak at the back end of my top 30 and the dude is killing it in Great Falls. 5-5 tonight with three doubles and a homer. Hitting .355 with 35 doubles and 25 strikeouts. I like his profile as a hitter, although I worry about his long-term position.
  18. Finished Uncharted: The Lost Legacy last night. It's very good. It's not the best Uncharted without Nate, but Naughty Dog games are a rare treat when they come along. Such high production value.
  19. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 10:00 AM) Well the chief concern now from the media who's coverage ESPN was specifically trying to avoid is that this kind of nonsense makes political correctness look bad, and now ESPN is to blame for that. The issue here is a media that wants to be treated like the fourth estate with cringe worthy taglines like "Democracy dies in darkness", but in practice just patrols the depths for petty mistakes to make mountainous issues out of. And now that every organization with a brand has caught up to this and is trying to stay ahead of it, the media is now acting like "aww that? Oh come on we'd NEVER say anything about Robert Lee doing a UVA game" when it is almost certain they would. The reality is your strong reaction is what is fueling this type of content. If you want this type of stuff to stop, stop reading it, stop viewing it, stop talking about it, stop reacting to it. It's a numbers game and obviously given the discussion around it, this did well for the outlets that reported on it. Whether you like that they did or not, they are benefiting. Frankly, I don't know why people are upset about this either way. I find it somewhat amusing that this coincidence happened to ESPN and that they thought to move him off the game. It's not really relevant enough to get worked up over, yet I see so many people did.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 09:35 PM) He has 8 home runs this year. Not every prospect is going to be a sure fire starter, doesn't mean it's not interesting. He's only 20 in high A. Worth keeping an eye on. Not worth getting excited about yet. A lot of red flags in his bat.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) Ignoring Rons ignorance to say yrizzari is hitting over .300 for the dash and now tonight a home run and a double. Doesn't walk (2 in 26 games with Dash), 18 strikeouts still not a great contact rate considering also has zero power. Those two extra base hits are his first with the Dash.
  22. On the flip side, I'm happy to see some fresh faces have a chance. I don't think he has the fitness yet to win a major, but Sasha Zverev has serious game. He just won two tournaments in a row before losing today in Cincinnati. He'll be a top 10 seed, maybe top 5 if there's that many out of the field.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 08:26 PM) thebesssss I really want this to be a thing.
  24. If it's a PTBNL or cash, then it's likely going to based on Clippard's performance with the Astros. If it was just Tony Kemp, they'd just have announced it as a PTBNL.
  25. I'm starting to think we see Eloy as a September call up next year. The way he is hitting is crazy. If he can come close to this level next year in AA, why not give him a few at-bats at the end of what is likely to be another bad White Sox season? What do we think the ETA on Kopech is? There's no rush, but there's a decent chance he'll be one of the five best starting pitchers in the organization come spring training next year.
