  1. QUOTE (Saufley @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) In 2005 I was in Orlando during our 2005 World Series games. Just wondering what the media coverage was like and how it compares to what is on the airwaves and TV now? Glad you asked this. I was in college out of state during 2005 and being back in Chicago now, this is the first time I felt any regret over not being here for 2005. I didn't care about missing all the local media hysteria because I was just happy it was happening. The s*** this year is literally everywhere and I can't take it. Would have been nice to soak it in during the 2005 run.
  2. I respect the Civ games and would probably enjoy it, but don't want to sink the time into it (and don't have a computer capable of running it well). I just didn't realize there were so many of you megalomaniacs out there. Also, for all you new PS4 owners, for the love of god get Resogun.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 12:20 PM) For those of you that have a PS4, would you recommend it? I currently have a PS2 and am looking to upgrade. I'm a casual gamer that plays the likes of MLB The Show, Madden, NBA2K, etc. If I do go through with it, is playing online as good as it seems? Thanks. Justifying the price is entirely up to you if you only play a few games. That said, the system is super easy to use compared to the PS3. Playing online is usually seamless if you have halfway decent internet.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 22, 2016 -> 07:16 AM) Quinarvy: I don't own a Nintendo products, but every time one is released I act like they stole my money That was mean coming from a guy who buys everything Nintendo knowing it's not actually that good.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) If Nintendo can get good third party support this time around, I'm definitely in for the Switch. I'm wondering how though. How much power can that thing possibly have if it's portable? What's the transition like from portable to TV? Are you running a low-res version of the game when it's portable and then it goes HD when it's hooked up to your TV? I want to know what the difference is because unless there is an up-res thing going on with the TV dock, the games will have to be made for a portable device. Either that thing is going to be crazy expensive (not likely knowing Nintendo) or it's going to be crappy versions of games like NBA 2K17 (shown in the trailer) just so it can run on the portable. If there is some tech boost going on when it's plugged into the TV does that mean games will run like crap or be missing features when portable?
  6. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 11:32 PM) Bought Mafia 3 Dude, come on with this. At least add a little bit of substance. Could you have waited until you played it and said something about it then? Otherwise I'm going to start posting 'Took a dump'
  7. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Oct 9, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) Currently considering buying an Xbox one s 1 TB halo bundle collection from microsoft website for $350.00. Quite the perfect bundle. I already have a ps3 and have been a playstation fan boy for quite some time, but i figure if I go xbox now I still get Kingdom hearts 3, and can also play the awesome Halo bundle. Also, looking forward to rocket league. Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy an xbox one s in this situation? I don't see any reason to buy a ps4 right now since I have a ps3 and an xbox covers most/all the games that are of any concern to me. (note: I am not a big game-player, just love a few games passionately -- kingdom hearts series, final fantasy, halo series, some sports games, some fun games like rocket league / lbp) I've been waiting to purchase a One S Halo bundle myself. I've been plenty occupied with my PS4 so I haven't made the purchase yet. I would say that if you're not a big gamer, I wouldn't bother with the 1TB version. You can get a better price for the 500GB and it sounds like you don't need the extra space. Also, if you're only going to get one system, it's all about comparing price and exclusives. I loved Halo when I played 2 and 3 in college, but Naughty Dog games are typically worth buying a Playstation by themselves. Uncharted 4 was really impressive.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 08:16 AM) Passing works way better than 16 IMO. I can actually pass in the box now instead of the ball getting intercepted or going completely to the wrong player. There's still times where I'll want to pass it to one player and it'll go to another. Sometimes that's my fault, but other times, it seems like the game's screwing me. The new engine makes deflections seem more natural, which is big in terms of flow of the game, but I have been playing FIFA for too many years. I no longer have any patience for passes going to the wrong player. It may only happen 2-3 times per game, but it's infuriating each time. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 09:07 AM) i honestly have zero interest in any sort of VR. Give me a remote and tv and get off my lawn I'm not in any rush to spend hundreds of dollars on it, but I am certainly curious. I think Eve Valkyrie looks really cool. I saw some footage of the Batman VR and thought it looked pretty lame. I'm sure they can come up with good stuff, but it's going to take time. No reason to be an early adopter to this IMO.
  9. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) Anybody got FIFA 17 yet? Is there a huge difference from last years game? I usually wait a few years before buying a new FIFA unless something is really worth moving up for. It's different in some ways, not different in important ways. They totally reworked corners and penalties and adjusted free kicks. I like the new corners, hate the new penalties. Some of the same issues crop up though. Stupid teammates and controls that seem to fight you. Having more trouble than usual getting players to pass to the correct player. Sometimes the direction is off by 45 degrees from what I was aiming. It's infuriating at times. The Journey is surprisingly cool though.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) As predicted, players have gotten sick of endless crafting and No Mans sky is dying. It is inevitable. The game can be so pretty. Whoever did the art for it deserves an award. The reason it got so much buzz in trailers is because it looks fantastic. The visuals lived up to the hype. It's just a game that can't get out of its own way. Not a lot of quality of life stuff. Little annoying things that don't directly relate to the gameplay loop that make it a bit more tedious. Menus are annoying, the UI isn't great, it crashes on occasion. If it was smoother to navigate the repetition would be less grating.
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) This game may be playable in the future, once the developers get their s*** together via DLC but it's sadly broken and vapid right now and I can't help but feel like I was sold a bill of goods by a small studio who didn't know how to handle their insane hype so they just rode the wave, telling fib after fib because they didn't know better. And what we're left with is basically a procedurally generated Rebel Galaxy ($20 title), sans the solid space combat and Firefly inspired asthetic, oh and 100000x more grinding, so much grinding. tl;dr: f***, I believed the hype and unfortunately so did the developer, knowing all along that they couldn't back it up. I don't think the developer really lied about the game. They delivered on the space side. There are a ton of planets. There's variety within those planets, flying in the ship is cool. They never really explained the moment-to-moment gameplay, the purpose. I still think it had nothing to do with the studio not being able to deliver. They delivered on the scale. They just needed to make it a loot-based game like Division or Borderlands. Go to certain planets for certain types of loot to build certain things so you can defeat this type of enemy that keeps bothering you. The inventory restrictions take the fun out of finding a box with something inside.
  12. It's great that Hansen is putting up these numbers, but remember what Spencer Adams did right out of high school as a rookie? 59 K, 4 BB in 41.2 IP. Granted he gave up 49 hits, but we were very impressed with that until the hits stayed the same and the strikeouts fell off a cliff. Hansen isn't giving up hits, but the walks probably jump up as he moves up the levels and that could be a problem. In short, it's rookie ball so who knows.
  13. I still like No Man's Sky, but I wish it were a Borderlands/Division style loot game instead of the resource management/hoarding game it is. I still love being in a spaceship in a universe that is actually space sized. If you like space-based sci-fi, like I do, you'll probably like the game. If not, then you play some nerdy fantasy/dragons game.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 05:36 AM) Getting the ship operational definitely kicks things up a notch because you can fly around looking for whatever you need vs jogging haha. Yeah, that's a gamechanger. That's what takes it from 'this is cool, but...' to a jaw-dropping experience. It's not the most fun game in terms of intense action, but I think about it pretty much all day until I get to play it at night. Not many games do that.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 12:31 PM) From a particularly solid review. I'm interested in this game, but not sure I'd ever be able to devote the time required to enjoy it. The problem, then, is that those parts are so constantly interrupted or put on hold for the sake of a survival loop that just isn’t very fun. s***, I’m almost out of carbon, which means I need to wander over to some local plant life and slowly cut it down with my mining tool. Damn, I’m ready to leave this planet but my thrusters are low on power; time to wander mindlessly until I happen across some plutonium. The mundanity of this cycle is exacerbated by an insultingly tiny inventory space that requires near-constant juggling and micromanaging. Was it plutonium or platinum that I needed? Can I actually keep all of these tradeable trinkets I’ve found until I stumble across an NPC willing to trade with me, or can I just not spare the space? These are the types of strategic questions I found myself asking as I played No Man’s Sky, and frankly they just don’t make for a terribly engaging experience so far. http://www.polygon.com/features/2016/8/9/1...review-10-hours QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Ok this game rocks. I repaired my ship! This is pretty much it. The survival loop is a bit annoying, but the game is so impressive and cool that you put up with it. I wish it was more forgiving in that way, but I assume the more you play the easier those things will become. It definitely terrifies me with how much time it seems to require, at least the way I've played so far.
  16. I started No Man's Sky tonight. I don't work until the evening tomorrow so I figured I'd just go nuts tonight and play as much as I wanted. It's not 5 a.m. and I haven't gone to bed yet. This game is MASSIVE not just in literal size (we've already heard about how many planets there are), but also in how complex it is. There are so many things you can do and I literally just started flying around with my ship, which opened up a whole bunch of stuff. I had been walking everywhere to explore and now I can save time doing this. I can't even imagine the extra layers once I leave a planet for the first time. Geez.
  17. Play Abzu. If you liked Journey, it's similar. Made by some of the same people and might even be better.
  18. Luis Curbelo has 16 errors this season. Two tonight got him there. Yikes.
  19. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) I finally ordered a PS4. I know, extremely late to the party. Plan is to cut the cord for cable. What is the best and cheapest route to doing this by utilizing what is offered through the ps4? A buddy of mine has PlayStation Vue, but he's in Tampa so I can't speak for what the Chicago set up is regarding CSN. He really likes it though. Only thing is I can't text him 'holy s*** what a play/goal/whatever' because he's on a delay on Vue, but otherwise he's happy he switched over.
  20. Stranger Things needs to be talked about more. Of all the things Netflix has done that have gotten buzz, this one actually deserves it. It's a great mystery/scifi set in the 80s.
  21. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) Xbox Live just had this sale where like half the library was on sale... I bought 4 games, knowing I didn't really have the free time to play them. This is what women experience at Victoria's Secret when they have their semi-annual sale, isn't it? I'm so pleased someone was able to cut through the pokecrap to give us this gem.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 05:26 PM) Looks like Tottenham has finally struck a deal with F Vincent Janssen Just throwing it out there: Jozy Altidore scored four fewer league goals with AZ (same team Janssen is coming from) his final season before going to Sunderland.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 26, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) Diaz's second foul wasn't a yellow and Rojo's foul definitely wasn't a red. Yellow at best. Totally changed how the game would be played. I still think Diaz's was a yellow. Typical didn't play the ball, played the body to stop play type foul. Those are always yellows. The ref was too much a part of the game. 10v10 in extra time has to be exhausting and it showed with sluggish play by the end of the match.
  24. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 01:00 AM) Gonzalez was bad for the US in 2014 and 2015. Hard to blame JK for not selecting him bc he wouldn't have played in this Copa. Have you seen Matt Besler play since the World Cup (although he was solid against Ecuador)? How about Michael Orozco ever?
  25. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20160625 Tanner Banks with a solid start for Winston-Salem, Corey Zangari with a hat trick of strikeouts for Great Falls, Jake Peter with 3 hits and Trey Michalczewski with 2 for the Barons.
