QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 08:36 AM) After 2005, I felt like the Sox had accomplished everything I'd ever wanted...and if I'm being perfectly honest, baseball lost a lot of it's sheen to me. At the time it was my favorite sport, and after it happened, I felt like it was over. Me too. Baseball is now kind of boring. I have no tribal rooting interest that needs validation. They won one, they may never again. Whatever, baseball is too slow for me to watch regularly.
  2. I can't think of a notable Bulls player that I've liked less than Derrick Rose. He's so hard to root for.

    Music and more Music

Foo Fighters released a free EP on Monday titled Saint Cecilia. It's decent. The title track is good. How can you not like free unexpected Foo Fighters music?
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 22, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) Foregoing that FG earlier cost us the game. Agreed. The Bears had just failed on 3 straight goal to go plays, why would you bet on them converting 2 in a row just to tie with 10 minutes left? Kick there and then if you get another TD you're winning instead of tying. Don't understand that decision at all.

    2015 TV Thread

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 06:08 PM) Just watched the first ep of JJ. It was...awkward? Have to keep watching to see what the hell is going on. I know nothing of her comic. I don't either and I want to keep it that way for now. Not knowing what was going on really revved up for a shocker. I didn't get into Daredevil and bailed after 4 or 5 episodes. I was skeptical about this one, but watched it after someone gushed about the first episode. Now I want to gush as well. I hope it doesn't fizzle out.
  6. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 21, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) Wow, Wisconsin just got f***ed hard by the refs. Their punt returner picks up a bouncing ball, breaks about 3 tackles and runs for a touchdown. The refs call it back saying he signaled for a fair catch. At no point did he raise his hand above his shoulders and motion for a fair catch. And before someone says it, I know I'm the only person watching NU/Wisconsin. The way the announcers explained it (eventually once someone looked it up) is that a return man can't make any hand motion to make the rule clear cut. Even on the replays the ref mimics the motion below the waist perfectly as he explains it to the other refs. It wasn't about how high the hand motion is, a return man can't make any hand motion and then return the ball. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 21, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) Sure looks like Wisconsin got screwed on a game tying TD at the end I thought the ball rolled around as he fell down. You can argue the rule, but that's the rule.
  7. That Barcelona performance in Madrid is about as good as it gets. Even once they coasted down the stretch, Bravo made some ridiculous saves to preserve the shutout.
  8. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) nice write up, for me, i would really like to see how it goes in the season in the minors. the excitement of the talent is maybe clouding the overall opinion. however it all starts with good drafting of the prospects and that i can say it is improving. baby step.... Pretty much nailed it. The Sox certainly aren't a development powerhouse, but maybe they don't suck anymore.
  9. Jimmy Butler was fire tonight, especially in the fourth quarter. Holy crap. Also, surprisingly good game from Kirk Hinrich. Go figure.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2015 -> 11:15 AM) So apparently st. louis cardinals fans are neo nazis. i was following best fans in baseball and saw some really bad tweets. Cardinals fans sucking is nothing new. I don't think that's really related though.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 10:00 AM) Ok, PS4 COD edition, is it worth it for the 1TB HD? You'd have to download a ton of games to fill it up. I try to lean digital and still haven't filled up my launch PS4. I don't think it's worth paying up for, but if you have the choice and it's not a big price difference it can't hurt.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) Awesome. Hopefully you get to see newcomers Darlington Nagbe and Matt Miazga play and get cap tied. That's a good point. I was hesitant to get on the Miazga bandwagon, but he's really improved a lot in the past year and seems to be capable of being an elite defender within the US system. It will be my second US game, first since the 2013 Gold Cup final in Soldier Field. It will be a bit weird seeing a game in a baseball stadium. I saw a friendly at Wrigley and it was less than ideal. Hopefully I picked out better seats for this one.
  13. I'm heading down to St. Louis for Friday's opening 2018 World Cup qualifier. Anyone else here going to that one?
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) I might be biased as a friend and former co-worker, but his motivations are pure. Butler is the main thing that started this, but I think it's developed into many things more than that. It's a hard situation to judge because I think the messaging has been poor. The student group right now is getting awfully aggressive. They're currently blocking out media from a gathering, and from what I'm told by a reporter friend of mine there, they are upset that the media wasn't covering it until the football team got involved. Asking to be heard and then complaining how you got the attention is very strange. I think it's key to separate Butler from the rest of the issues that have spawned from it. He's just one man, some people in support of him haven't behaved that well. I think Pinkel nailed the press conference they just had. He's all about supporting his players while trying to keep it as simple as that. His players felt the need to do something, and he supported it. My own opinions on the whole thing are far harsher than what I wrote above, but I don't think that is productive. The bickering and yelling led to poor communication, which is what Wolfe said in his resignation. That's the biggest problem.
  15. I don't really think that solves anything. It was a s***ty call, bottom line. Finding technicalities within the way the rules are written doesn't change that. That just shows the rules are written poorly.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) I'm always amazed by how bad the QB and PK position are at Alabama. You recruit the most amazing athletes but always seem to be lacking at those two clutch positions. (AJ McCarron was fine, but nothing special ) Heh, Alabama's kicker makes a 54-yarder just before halftime.
  17. QUOTE (daa84 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 06:51 PM) Clemson stormed the field. Really? You are number 1 and you beat the 16 team. Seems quite silly Clinched division title, which is first since 2011. Should be clear sailing to playoff, barring a major shock at South Carolina or to North Carolina in the ACC title game. I'd say it's field rush worthy for a program like Clemson. It's not Alabama or USC.
  18. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) reminding me of the year they won 11 games under Muschamp before getting rolled vs Louisville in the Sugar Bowl. UF barely survived East Carolina. Got lucky vs Tennessee. Looked terrible at Kentuckey and at Missouri. Beat a Georgia team that handed them the game and then today. I was actually pretty impressed by their showing at Mizzou. Their offense is never going to impress you, especially with Grier out now, but the defense is the real deal. They're flawed, but they blew out Ole Miss and almost won at LSU. They're not bad. They're somewhere in the 11-20 range.
  19. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) Florida is such frauds. If the East didn't suck so much they'd be a .500 team. Yeah, the East is garbage. This is nothing new.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 01:59 PM) Northwesterning Yeah, it was a nice win for the Cats.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) When they played Vandy, the over under was like 34 which is unheard of, even in the NFL. The Dilfer Ravens vs Grossman Bears would have an O/U of 37 based on defensive TD potential Right, and it was wayyy under. The defense (which is having a pretty poor game tonight) is the only thing that keeps them from getting totally slaughtered every game. It has to be the worst offense in the country.
  22. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) I HATE the lack of campaign mode. Give me an open-world Star Wars game and you can take $100 from me. Now I understand that Battlefront has never been an open-world game, but I was hoping they would give us SOMETHING like CoD does. I was so hyped for that Star Wars 1331 game or whatever it was called a few years ago before it was suddenly cancelled. EDIT: Star Wars 1313 was the name. That's from 3 years ago. I guess when Disney acquired LucasArts, they cancelled the game. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/uncharted...i/1100-6428492/ It's not open-world, but I think I'd rather have a linear Star Wars campaign anyway. I don't want to imagine the awful side missions in a Star Wars game. "Hey, go fetch those power cells for me, but they're heavily guarded."
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 09:44 PM) Agreed. The first two battlefronts were my childhood, but this one just looks like Battlefield with Star Wars characters to me. Why is that such a bad thing?
  24. Everyone stop everything, Mizzou actually scored a touchdown! Christ, they're pathetic.
