QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 06:56 AM) I think he was saying that cause Dan Haren got injured in his Angels debut. Of course he was, but the Angels still would have needed to do something wrong to be deserving of this "bad karma".

That must be the most uninteresting slate of pitchers, ever.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 07:18 PM) I think I am the only person who likes this deal for the Dbacks. To me at least, Joe Saunders is a pretty decent #3 pitcher, with #2 potential. I doubt he ever reaches the ace level of Haren, but the Dbacks also pick up 3 prospects, one of Skaggs who is a pretty legit prospect, and they shave a LOT of money off their payroll too. I think the Dbacks could have gotten more, since the reports said Haren would be very hard to get, but I still like this trade for the Dbacks. Saunders moving to the NL West will help him get back on his feet. Based on? Saunders is a #4 at very best. His stuff is extremely mediocre. He doesn't strike anybody out. He doesn't get an especially high number of ground balls. His walk rate is only average. He's never pitched 200 innings. Please, tell me how that equates to a #3 starter with #2 upside.

QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 06:29 AM) Look at his slugging percentage from last year to this year. It's a marked increase and based on his numbers from past seasons I would say that he's still very much a work in progress so there is potential for him to improve. Next season will be the litmus test for him. His SLG has risen because his BA has risen, not because his power has increased. When looking strictly at power, ISO is a far better indicator than SLG, and Gilmore's ISO is only very slightly better than last year.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) I like a bunch of the jumps (like Escobar, Short, Gilmore) but man, injuries and dropping players (like CJ). I did expect Flowers to be 3 and Mitchell to fall a bit. What would you have done, Flowers 3, Sale 4? I had Sale at #2 personally.

Santeliz and Millender, too.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 04:31 AM) I think I'm off the UpChurch bandwagon, I did have high hopes when the sox drafted him. Me too. The K's have vanished.

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 07:19 PM) Flowers' splits for the season are interesting. Can't hit worth squat in Charlotte? Strange. And had the May from hell it appears. It's all on the BABIP's though. Hit the luck adjust button.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 10:51 PM) Naw I caught it. I spelled Eck's name wrong. That's more like it. I was thinking it was odd that you'd have Taylor Tankerlsey (or Dennis) as one of your go to elite reliever.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) Man.. that was a nice way of saying he was a terrible pick. I've never been a fan of drafting relievers in the first 5 rounds (hell even 10 and you wouldn't hear me complaining) in the draft. Always thought that was suicide to a scouts' career unless the guy better be the next Tankersley/Rivera/steroid up Gagne. Most pitchers drafted become relievers anyway when they might fail as a starting pitcher later on. Tankersley? What am I missing here?

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 05:41 AM) Decent start for Petricka..... 5 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K In 23 IP so far, he has 28 K and 4 BB. Very nice peripherals. Great peripherals. I want to see him pushed to Kannapolis.

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 03:56 AM) Silverio gets to A ball and shows he can't hit again, 0-5, ugly. Well you don't learn anything from one game, but the early result obviously isn't good.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 09:12 PM) Ya 2011 is going to be another fun Barons team to watch. Most of those W-S kids will probably be promoted up there next season. (some even making the jump very soon this year) Well this is assuming they don't all regress massively like the numbers suggest they will.

WHITV confirm that Phegley's move to the DL is again because of ITP. http://www.wthitv.com/dpp/sports/sports-wt...ses-time-itp-cm

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 11:52 PM) Rienzo looks like he's having a solid year. What's his story? Brazilian pitcher. Mid 90's fastball, decent secondary stuff. He's one to watch.

What are the odds? Nobody makes a thread for ages then two at the exact same time. Anyway... Flowers- 3-3, HR, 2 BB. Now that's a line I can get behind.
-
A decent start for Upchurch- 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 4 SO. 10 GO/1 FO. Just 11 SO in 25 IP for him now though.

Back to back 3 hit games for Jose Martinez.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:44 AM) I wonder when they just say, screw it, and send Sale to Charlotte. The rumored time line was a mid July promotion to Charlotte and then Chicago some time in August.
