QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) Ravioli and Salad? They must be getting hungry in the war room.

My tweets on Ravelo and Saladino: Ravelo is an above average hitter with plus raw power. May not stick at 3B. Saladino is an above average hitter with doubles power. Very good defender at SS. Good range above ave arm. I like Saladino.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) Isn't Austin Wilson basically Brian Goodwin now? The guy the Sox took last year in like the 17th round, but he went to UNC. Pretty much. There's always someone who slides like this due to signability. A team will take a flyer in him late but it seems likely that he'll be attending Stanford.

Day 2 Draft thread
Baseball america on Grimes: Another player with Top 200 talent who was on the rise, righthander Matthew Grimes has a Georgia Tech baseball commitment and a projectable 6-foot-5 body. Some scouts question how much weight Grimes will add to his skinny frame, but with his long levers he generates intriguing fastball velocity. He sits at 89-91 mph but touches 93-94, with the ability to throw downhill, and has improved his breaking ball, which he throws with power and tilt in the upper 70s at his best. Grimes' detractors consider him a tough sign away from Tech and worry about the life on his fastball. He does have a clean arm and good mechanics after toning down a slight head jerk.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) Sox select Matt Grimes. High schooler. I love the Brewers pick in Morris. Jeff you know alittle more about him than I do. I like Morris. One of the better college first basemen this year. Decent power but his plate discipline is not so hot. I tweeted this on Grimes: Grimes' fastball sits 90-92 and touching 95. Above average curve, potentially average change. Nice upside. Good projectability too, could be a mid rotation type.

I'm hoping for Ohio University outfielder Gauntlett Eldemire with one of the Sox next two picks.

White Sox select Chris Sale with #13 pick in MLB draft
QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) In all seriousness, anyone worried about his arm-angle or the fact that Brent Lillibridge could clearly kick his a$$? I'm a little worried by the mechanics. He does repeat his delivery very well though which is key.

QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) We'll find out today I suppose. Not necessarily. They always say that the money is there for the right player. Grandal may just have been that right player. There isn't necessarily a $6m budget just because they were intending to go over-slot on Grandal.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 05:13 AM) While I would love Allie/Wilson/Cole as many others, I don't think they are realistic picks for the Sox. Names I like: Workman, Eibner, Yordy, Eldemire, Golden, Bettis, Stanek, Solis, Smelter, and Cisco. I like pretty much all these guys. Would be very happy to see the Sox take one of them.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 01:34 AM) I would love for the Sox to take J. Parker from UVa in the 2nd round, as he reminds me a lot of Jordan Danks. Is that a good thing? I don't like Parker at all.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 01:27 AM) He'll go way before our next pick. And Chris Sale will go way before 13. This draft is unpredictable. I don't expect him to last until 63, but there's certainly a chance.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 01:24 AM) Now... fathom, Dirty, Jeff.. anyone you eying for the second pick that might fall? I've mentioned this guy a few times before but I really like Mike Foltynewicz. High school RHP from Illinois.
