  1. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:32 AM) Salgado, 38th round SS who was committed to Kansas is in tonights box score for Bristol. Nice spot.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) Anyone see Tillman pitch in the majors this year? He looked awful, fastball was in the 90-91 mph range. He's one of those guys whose stuff mysteriously disappears as he reached the Majors. Similar to Homer Bailey amongst many others. It may be that his stuff was always overrated in the minors, or it could be something mental. I also think the Orioles do a horrible job developing players.

  4. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 05:25 AM) Black at C? Yeah they transitioned him to C in ST. I liked his bat a lot coming out of the draft and if he can stick at C is obviously helps his future value tremendously.
  5. Keith Law is so anti-White Sox it's ridiculous... ...oh wait, this is not an example of that.
  6. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 06:35 PM) That's too bad. He was actually starting to look like a player recently. .333 over his last 10 games. Had an 8 game hitting streak going into yesterday. What type of injury? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. He still wasn't hitting for any power and had 0 BB/8 SO. Anyone at his level can get some luck on balls in play.

  9. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) I like uruguay to beat the netherlands. I still think Spain will take the whole thing. Based on everything we've seen you'd be crazy to bet against Germany.
  10. Should have been 1-1. Great chance for Santa Cruz after Casillas' spill.
  11. I've watched the replay on Spain's goal about 5 times now and it still doesn't look like it's going in.
  12. That was crazy. Spain should have had a second penalty too.
  13. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 02:22 AM) Something that was raised on the Score... would you be willing to deal Rose to get Wade, LJB and Bosh?? Seriously? Rose is great but this is like asking if you would trade a dollar for a million, bazillion, trajillion dollars.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 01:59 AM) Doyle pitched the 7th inning, but gave up a run. He's probably done. We'll see if Sale gets the 8th. Sale will pitch the 8th.
  15. Great start for Buch- 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 SO.
  16. That was a great game. Kevin-Prince Boateng I thought was really good. He's the one player that I'd like Avram Grant to bring to West Ham from Portsmouth.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:11 AM) I don't like the gameday links either. If I do that, it's only because it's the only thing available at the time.Same here. I always go for the box if it's available, but like you say, gameday is often up first.
  18. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:04 AM) Greene also has a nice, compact swing. Is he projectable? He's listed at 6'0", 185. How accurate would you say that is?
  19. Bristol have put 21 runs on the board through 8.
  20. Petricka pitched very well- 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 SO, 7 GO/1 AO.
  21. Nobody... Ben Badler: Not surprising but still disappointing. Hopefully they can sort themselves out for next years bumper crop of IFA's.

  23. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 02:20 AM) Yikes. Why? He's not a scout. He's a media writer. I collect quotes of stupid uninformed comments he's made over the years... and it's not small. The only reason he has any 'street cred' as a baseball insider is because he got hired for a short stint by one of the worst GMs in recent baseball history. Well unfortunately I'm not connected with scouts from all over the country, so all I have are the prospect writers. He has as much if not more scouting experience as the guys at BA, or KG or Sickels and, like me, he uses advanced stats. It pains me reading BA and seeing them still use ERA and W-L records as means of evaluation. Sickels is better than BA in that regard but he overemphasizes pitcher hit rates, which I don't care for. KG is far too tools obsessed. I can't comment on your long list if uninformed comments, but I'm sure you could compile a similar list on anyone who throws their opinions out there on a regular basis like he does.
  24. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 03:35 PM) Mitchell's report http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2009/...ontent=mitchell Trout's report http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2009/...p?content=trout both guys have plus speed, trout has developing power, mitchell just has raw power. I believe Mitchell has more issues with his swing and tends to strike out a lot, and Trout also had better plate discipline than Mitchell. Trout was a more well rounded player with above average tools, while Mitchell was a Mike Cameron type of player, good speed and power, but has contact issues. If you respect Keith Law's opinion, I believe he had Trout as a better prospect on his board, I believe he was in the teens to twenties, while mitchell was 35 I think, and he did project Trout to go to the Sox. Mitchell was considered to have better speed/power/defensive potential, with Trout having the edge in contact ability. Mitchell's speed/athleticism is elite, whereas Trout's is "just" plus. I'm not a big Mitchell fan, and I never said he was, or is, a better prospect than Trout.
