  1. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 03:55 AM) Great Falls pitchers have combined for 16 strikeouts in the first 7 innings tonight... And they still trail 2-1. Buch with 4 of them in 1.2 perfect innings. He's still walking too many batters but he's starting to come around with 25 strikeouts against his last 10 walks.
  2. Playoffs: Birmingham vs. Jacksonville Game 2, Barons trail series 1-0 (best of 5). Game 1: Birmingham 2, Jacksonville 4. Winston-Salem at Salem Game 3, Dash trail series 2-0 (best of 5). Game 1: Winston-Salem 2, Salem 7. Game 2: Winston-Salem 4, Salem 6. Kannapolis at Lakewood Game 2, Intimidators trail series 1-0 (best of 3). Game 1: Kannapolis 2, Lakewood 4. Regular Season: Great Falls vs. Billings
  3. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...009/268861.html I'm surprised that Flowers made it, not because he doesn't deserve it, but because he seems to be perennially overlooked by prospect writers. Chris Carter at no. 3 for those who didn't want to read it. Jason Heyward also named BA's POY.
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 11:00 PM) If you're a White Sox fan, you should want the future players of the team to care about winning and losing, even in the minors. If the playoffs didn't matter, then the Barons 40 man members Dayan Viciedo and Clevelan Santeliz would be called up to Chicago instead of trying to help the Barons win the SL title. Winning doesn't matter, but development does. You don't need to win to develop, you just need to play and that's what Dayan and co will be doing in Birmingham, something they wouldn't be doing in Chicago. If Kenny and Ozzie felt that the Sox would be a better team with Viciedo or Santeliz or whoever it may be on the Major League roster, then you can bet they would be there. Daisuke was the same situation, sure the timing was unfortunate for the DASH, but if the Red Sox feel that it's in their best interests to give Matsuzaka a rehab start then that's what they're going to do, and in this case, what they did do, the fact that it came during a Carolina League playoff game is irrelevant to them. Also caring about winning and actually winning are not the same thing. I'm sure the Dash players will have been pissed off at the fact that they faced Daisuke and it probably spurred them on to try even harder, but they still lost. That doesn't mean they didn't want to win, they just weren't good enough.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 01:01 AM) Has anyone actually seen Santos Rodriguez pitch in person? Does he throw a legit mid-90's from the LH side? Perhaps Jones or Rodriguez become the next Scott Radinsky or Boone Logan to basically jump from A ball to the bigs. Baseball America say he has a low-90’s sinking fastball and promising slider. I know there were some rumours about him moving to the rotation and I was hoping he'd make the transition since relievers only have so much value, obviously he'd need a third pitch for that... maybe next year.
  6. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 05:56 AM) Nice to see Trayce Thompson with a 2-4 night. Two more strikeouts though. And f*** me did the Voyagers go wild on the bases, 15 steals in the 2 games. Also 2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K for Buch.
  7. Charlotte at Gwinnett 2 homers for Betemit Birmingham at Chattanooga Winston-Salem at Myrtle Beach Kannapolis vs. Hickory Griffith with a good start, Bellamy and Rodriguez continue to be awesome, 3 more hits for Gilmore. Great Falls at Helena
  8. Charlotte at Gwinnett Birmingham at Chattanooga Winston-Salem at Myrtle Beach Rasner starting Kannapolis vs. Hickory Great Falls at Helena
  9. I think Hudson runs away with it in ST. He's just flat out better than the other options.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 03:19 AM) Robert Vaughn. All he does in his Kanny debut is go 2-4 HR, 2B, 6 RBIs. Hell of a debut. That's just one RBI less than he managed in 27 games with Bristol.
  11. Kyle Bellamy is really good. 30 SO/2 BB on the season. Great ground ball rate, strikeout rate, walk rate, home run rate. Could he get Major League righties out right now?
  12. Leesman done after 3 innings in what I would assume is inning preservation, 3 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K.
  13. Charlotte at Gwinnett Hynick starting, Heyward making AAA debut. Birmingham at Chattanooga Ely starting Winston-Salem at Myrtle Beach Kannapolis vs. Hickory Leesman starting Great Falls at Missoula
