QUOTE(BFirebird @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) Just because of the staff alone. If the Sox can find a way to sign PK they could be looking at some very good years and some GREAT battles with the Indians. If PK doesn't turn out to be an option I trust KW to come up with a good plan though. It will just be tougher without the rock in the middle of the lineup. Unless that rock is from the rockies, ala Todd Helton

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WORLD SERIES WINNER!!!!!!
mmmmmbeeer replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
We can thank the internet for the opportunity to bring so many Sox fans, from all over the world, together into one place. We've been through thick and thin together, as die-hards. Now, tonight, the team we've spent so much time and energy on, are WORLD MOTHERf***ING CHAMPIONS!!!! This is a special evening, and knowing that i can jump online with my Soxtalk brethren, my motherf***ing WHITE SOX DIEHARD BRETHREN, is truly an honor. -
no way in hell he scores on that double, hesitation or no hesitation. This guy is just painting that outside slider, yet the Sox seem surprised everytime he pitches it. f***ing gotta adjust.

Some Newcastle to get me through til the Korbel bubbley i'll be popping open after the game.
-
Good decision to tag, imo. That ball should have been caught and would have been caught by 95% of left fielders.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 05:27 AM) Did he even throw one hammer tonight? He only threw one in Game 1 but it struck the guy out. Is he too nervous to throw it for fear of hanging it? I think the one in the dirt was a hook, showed 89 on the gun.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 05:22 AM) Now here's a conversation. He looked like s*** tonight. Bad location, speed down 4-5 mph from last night. Last night was all adenaline. Tonight, he was tight and nervous. I agree, he HAS to mix in his breaking ball. But the thing is, I think he's pretty much trusting AJ to get him through the hitters. We'll see Jenks one more time I think - because he'll have a couple of days to recover. But I'll be shocked if we see him in back to back situations again in this series. Agreed, he needs to bring out that NASTY hook more often. Last night he spoke about not wanting to go to the offspeed stuff because the pitches weren't breaking properly in the pen. He threw the one hook after getting in the game and it was perfectly located and broke what looked to be about 14". I think that speed gun was off tonight. Buerhle never went above like 89, nor did Pettitte. Cliff was clocked at 91 or so. The only guy that looked accurate was Lidge at 95-97, but I could swear he could reach 98 consistently.

Every one of the Astros coaches/players that gets asked about Rocket just acts dumb as if they didn't even know he was hurt. When Buck asked the pitching coach about him tonight, it looked like the coach took a deep breath and strarted the spin cycle. Something about "i haven't spoke with anyone about Roger's medical condition today". Your game 1 starter goes out with a bad hammy, he's scheduled to pitch game 5, you're his pitching coach which means you'd probably get tagged for some input for a contingency plan for game 5 if he can't go, and yet you "didn't talk to anyone today"? Give me a break. Rocket is done. They're trying to hide his condition from the Sox so that they don't know who to prepare for in game 5. HUGE advantage pale hose!

QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 03:22 AM) Unless we can figure out Lidge - which will not be easy - our bullpen better have a few innings in them. El Duque should start warming up now. This is what all that rest was for. agreed on el duque

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) We can talk about some poor ABs by our guys, but this loss should really go on Buehrle. Any game where a team has to score 5 runs off Pettitte and the Astros bullpen is going to be a tough one. That's ridiculous. Berkman would have never been in the box without a abulls*** infield hit.

I don't understand why Oz took off the bunt. I was wondering why the f*** Garner did it with Everett in the top half, and then f***ing Oz does it, after seeing the failure of Everett. Stupid move...gotta get one there.

This was a tough situation for Kenny, and I think he made the right decision in holding out on contract talks. First off, if you pay him earlier in the year, especially with a big contract, you'd rob your team of the famous "year of free agency" performance. So we go through the season, see we're getting to the playoff early on in the season, you still can't pay him because you need him to have that same drive in the postseason. KW's decisions have been right in this regard. Paulie may not like. His father may not like it. So be it, Paulie's in a world series that he may not have been in had he signed a big contract earlier in the season.

If the Sox happen to win the WS next week, Frank has no other goal in his career but to reach 500hrs. He needs 52 more to get there, or roughly two years worth of service left to reach 500. I don't know if Frank will stick it out if he has a ring on his finger. If he does, I don't think he'll look at it as a financially lucrative endeavor and settle for a very small contract. I don't see any relevance whatsoever between Frank and Paulie. Money regarding Frank won't be an issue, JR will do what's necessary to keep Frank in Chicago if he wants to reach that 500hr plateau.

Where's the "Get A Life" at? You want to talk about comedies ahead of their time....

I had the phone and computer going. Fast busy at the Atlanta office and the computer locked up at the security check. My brother saw his tkts but then locked up and got nothing on the phone. My sister had 2 tickets that timed out online. And my Dad tried phone and internet with no luck. The two seats my sister had were in 557 which I happened to look on Ebay. $1500+ for two seats in 554 nosebleed. f*** that. I'm probably still going to head up that way to the bars being they should be full of Sox faithful.
-
Are tickets ONLY available through phone/internet or are ticketmaster outlets selling tickets as well?

Ozzie's enormous ego will prevent him from retiring.
-
sweet picture, greasy!
-
unreal.
-
That should definitely be it for Jose. He just doesn't have it tonight....control isn't there. Ozzie definitely should have some urgency in his handling of this. Can't afford to offer them any chance at momentum heading back to Chicago.

Look what the Sox offered for Billy Wagner
mmmmmbeeer replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If that were indeed the offer, anyone want to explain why Philly wouldn't have taken it? I call bulls*** on the writer. -
I thought you were going to suggest a drink for each blown call against the Angels. Don't get me wrong, I'm lovin' it, but if I'm an Angels fan, boy I'd be pissed off.

Angels @ White Sox--ALCS Game 2

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) Yah. Lets just ignore their results over the year. I guess you're going to tell me that their coaches and manager expected both of them to perform up to their regular season levels under the circumstances I mentioned? Now the Sox are taking it out on the umpire. Brilliant. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) These are two awesome pitching teams. ITs incredible. Probably makes for pretty boring baseball for the "normal" fan though. Paul Byrd on 3 days rest and Jarrod Washburn returning from his deathbed does not make for "awesome" pitching. Hitters taking pitches down the middle while swinging at s*** outta the zone or right in on their hands makes those pitchers look "awesome"
