QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) Brandon Allen has a .420 OBP with an .889 OPS for AAA Reno. Yea, the Sox could use him right now. What would they do without Tony Pena? Duh!

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) "He once crossed the tracks to see why it was the wrong side" Fixed.

If him and Chuck Norris were to meet, it would end the universe.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) I hit a homerun with the Q-uperman nickname, so I'll be damned if I don't get this one to catch on too! Keep going, I like it.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) I found a link. He thinks he's joining Birmingham tomorrow, but the Barons have no roster space. They just added Dylan Axelrod from W-S and Matt Long was put on the DL. I think he's headed for W-S. Link Ricks is off the DL too, so that leaves only one roster spot open in Charlotte.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) I was banking he would move to RF for quite sometime cause of his arm, but the sox never did that. I really don't think he would be a very good outfielder, unless you want Carlos Lee with a good arm.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) His reaction time, etc is all slow at 3B. He has a very very strong arm. Quite frankly Viciedo profiles much more as a left fielder than a 3rd baseman. He does have relatively soft hands though. That's true, but part of the reason for that was that he doesn't set himself like infielders should when the pitch is thrown. He's standing upright most of the time.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) You pretty much just asked everyone to give you a bad rating. That's fine, I just didn't undertstand why it dropped from 4 last year down to 2 now.

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) Agreed, great write up. I disagree about his defense but hey we all have our opinions and I sure hope JPN is right! While I haven't seen him play nearly as much I get my info from some very reliable sources. I have been told his only plus attribute is his arm and everything else is below average. I think they have to give him a lot of PT or it would be a waste to let him rot on the bench. The thing I am most concerned about is the K/BB ratio. I don't understand how you disagree. I'm stating what I saw, not an opinion.

Why does the rating on my profile keep dropping?
-
If Pablo Sandoval can do okay at third, then so can Viciedo.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) Did they see something no one else did? No.
-
This is what I wrote about him last year. I watched him play almost 70 games in person. He's not a lost cause at all for third base. JPNese 7/26/09

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) I made it up. That's even more concerning.

De Aza was activated from the DL.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) We had heard a trade was going down with Whisler a day or so ago. It is just a minor move and has no impact on the major league squad. I guess he did want to be a starter again?
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) Yeah, Whisler isn't netting us anything of value. The three open roster spots at Charlotte should probably mean some shuffling about to occur in our system - promotions up the chain. That's what I'm expecting, although Charlotte could activate De Aza from the DL. Don't know who'd be moved up from B'ham though, I do know the Barons need some fresh blood from Winston-Salem. Not sure how long it will take for Nix to be able to play for Charlotte if he clears waivers.
-
Charlotte's pretty shorthanded as it is, this leaves them with three open roster spots. I doubt any other players are involved. He may have wanted to return to starting and they gave him the opportunity elsewhere.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) Cassel hit the DL in early May, don't know the reason why. No word on his return. He's likely out for the year. He had some issue with a bone in his shoulder that's been bothering him since last year. Which would account for his struggles. He had exploritory surgery performed on him by James Andrews that discovered the issue. He hasn't been seen in the Barons dugout lately.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 11:42 PM) Sox picked up this guy, I guess. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=ouelle001rya Must be headed to Winston-Salem or Kannapolis. They both have open roster spots.

The French in Russian thing.
-
He's going to need a month to adjust, as we all know.
-
This leaves Charlotte with three (3) open roster spots.
