  1. Chris Getz, cleanup hitter.
  2. Iowa State @ Iowa is on it, giving the BTN a bit of leverage here....so unfortunately, Mediacom's probably going to add a channel I'll watch once.
  3. He was released the other day, in the starting lineup for Charlotte today. There's your big move, folks.
  4. I don't want that POS on our team.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 10:18 PM) "Of course, with no homeruns in the regular season, Scott Podsednik was no Albert Pujols. But in baseball, on any given day, in any given inning, on any given pitch..." I love it. I'm still partial to ARow and BA screaming uncontrollably.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) Right now, his ERA is a full run lower than it was in '05 (admittedly ERA is not what you want to judge a reliever on, but just for an indicator) and his WHIP right now is 1.05 compared to 1.25 then. Last year his WHIP was 0.89 without that unhittable fastball. He has become a better "pitcher", FWIW.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) We're sweeping 'em. You and me, we believe.
  8. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 05:26 PM) He's 32, has missed significant time with health issues over the course of his career, and has over 1,700 innings on his arm. Do you want to trade away a cheap, 25-year-old pitcher with a mid-90's fastball and devastating breaking ball and another cheap, young third-baseman with 30+ HR power for a guy like that? It may be a great move for the short-term, but I don't think it's going to help the franchise over the long run. Yea, I would.
  9. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) Until next year when Uribe signs a 3-year deal to play 3B for the Sox. The Sox can't continue trading away young, cheap, effective talent for high-priced veterans on the down-slopes of their careers. They're going to need quality young players who don't cost an arm and a leg in the years to come. This trade would also fail to address the Sox's need for an EXTRA starter, with Contreras' health up in the air and Danks being limited in September. I'd hardly say Halladay is on the downslope.
  10. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) Tonight's Lineup. Cabrera SS Piernzynski C Quentin LF Dye RF Thome DH Swisher 1B Ramirez 2B Wise CF Fields 3B I like. I'd have liked Anderson out there, as he's actually got a couple of hits against Verlander and would be better out there in that huge CF, but PK def needed to sit today.

  12. Back to something we can agree on, watching the Cubs bullpen blow games is awesome.
  13. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) You can think what you want I guess, but I love fans who just get on umps. You can't honestly tell me that he's been doing a good job in games that we've watched him? I rarely ever get on an ump, cause I've umped before, and it's a thankless job.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) Who gives a s***. I know the names of plenty of umpires, it's not hard if you pay attention. Now you're just jumping on him for what has happened in the past. Umpires don't create situations like that, the plays cause it. It didn't matter who banged him out there, could have been Joe West, and an argument was gonna ensue. And, you were wrong about the call. He f***in nailed it. And that's why I went back and edited that post. The fact that he got it right still doesn't change the fact that he's a crappy ump.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 03:01 PM) First off, he was out, lay off Drake. Second of all, sliding makes it 10x harder to judge the play. It's retarded to slide head first, just stupid. Then you are gonna get tossed as a nobody first base coach throwing your hat, then he bumped him, then Piniella made an ass of himself, and bumped another umpire. Lay off Drake and don't mix in anything else that he has or hasn't done. Guy did one hell of a job. As an umpire, no one should ever know your name unless you're really good, or really bad.
  16. Rob Drake is horrible. On second look it was closer than I thought, but still, he's a goddamned lightning rod for close calls.

CQ hits a walk off homerun on a national stage!
  18. A reminder of all that is good: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=34...zIIrq4gLrrsmHCA Plus this, tell me this doesn't just choke you up. Scott Podsednik (World Series 2005 Game 2) This is the sort of stuff we're playing for.
  19. Bullpen blows another win for Harden. LOL
  20. The Indians have reportedly acquired Anthony Reyes from the Cardinals for Luis Perdomo. And the day just keeps getting better for Cleveland. Stealing Reyes away for a relief prospect is a great trade for the Indians. Perdomo is promising and has a chance of developing into a setup man, but Reyes still has what it takes to become a reliable starter and should be helped by the change of scenery.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 11:00 PM) I want to tip my cap to Floyd. He had piss poor defense behind him and didn't have much command of his curve ball and still battled through 6 innings giving up just 4 runs (3 earned). And you could honestly say at least one other should have not scored. This team defense is a serious issue though, Sox can't just continue to give away outs and runs. I agree. Last year, it seemed like he would have given up 8 under the same circumstances.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:38 PM) Beyond 2005, give me reasons why we shouldn't treat him that way. His three other seasons where he's had MVP votes or been an All Star? The fact that he's the team captain?
  23. Just wanted to say I love the insight you bring to the board.
  24. I dunno if we have any more vacancies....
