    Wing deserves a promotion soon.
  2. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) now How does this mean I hate him? Just because you do not care for my comments doesn't mean you cna stick words in my mouth. If he said what another poster wrote, I think he has a large ego for a guy with one pitch. Doesn't mean he is good, bad or I hate him. Well, if you can make assumptions that approximately none of our prospects will pan out, I don't see why I can't make assumptions as well.
  3. Kind of a low strike...
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) I was speaking of just velocity. His 2 seamer needs quite a bit of work, which was exposed this year and probably the reason he fell this far. I'd rather have a guy with a 2 seamer that needs work in the 5th round than a guy with 1 pitch in the first. Crosby is still 6'4 or 6'5 (I'd guess 6'4 seeing him in person) and throws 92 to 95 on a consistent basis with pretty good off speed stuff. Maybe he can be another Nickolas Lemon?
  5. Off all the videos, I like Ely's. Poreda's velocity wasn't there, Griffith was pretty wild. Hunt looked like he was popping it up there. Poreda did seem to keep the ball down.
  6. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:17 PM) The analysts at the draft specifically mentioned poreda saying that he could be as good as any of the pitchers at the top of the draft. This tells me he thinks he is as good as any other pitcher in the draft. Therefore I think he has a large ego considering other pitchers picked far ahead of him have much better stuff. Get it now? Players get b****ed at for not having enough attitude, and now him saying this makes him have an ego? I'm glad to see you hate him before he pitches his first game.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) Jones better be awesome because I have seen Casey Crosby pitch half a dozen times and he is going to be outstanding for Detroit if he doesn't get hurt. We very well might have been pantsed twice by a division rival in 5 rounds. Or he could never make it out of the minors. Poreda sounds like he has some excitement in his voice and he wants to get pitching... Will Poreda sign? "Yes, definitley." QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 08:08 PM) always good to have an ego. Apparently he just needs some pitches to go along with that. What are you talking about?
  8. Will we make another pick tonight?
  9. Hey, our draft coverage now has pretty pictures.
  10. I'd like a bat this round.
  11. "I am glad to be a part of the White Sox family," said Poreda, who was teammates at San Francisco with Stefan Gartrell, Chicago's 31st-round selection in 2006. "I am grateful for the opportunity and can't wait to get my professional career started."
  12. It may just be me, but BasseballChannels host sounds like Zach Braff.
  13. Round 3, Pick 119 RHP John Ely, Miami (OH) Ely, the third straight pitcher picked by the Sox, is more like former Sox first rounders Lance Broadway and Kyle McCulloch. Known as a "solid pitcher" who is a fierce competitor, Ely throws a fastball around 92 mph, as well as a changeup and a curve. The fastball and the changeup are his best pitches, while his curve is still developing. Ely also owns a somewhat violent throwing motion that makes him harder to hit.
  14. BTW, last nite I heard some stuff that some scouts were saying about my boy Eggy. They said he had good command, threw a low 90s fastball, a sinking fastball, and a changeup. Overall it sounds like they had a solid impression. Maybe the Sox scouts are following this thread so that they can make Flash happy. I suppose we'll find out.
  15. How's that look up top?
  16. I'm sure glad we didn't draft anyone named Lars. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) Good point. Although I'm not the only one..... I'm sure he'll pitch into oblivion now. yayayayayayayay Is that the Rally Rolling Rock? I need to find my Egbert in this draft.
  17. FutureSox.com Writeup Round 2, Pick 89 RHP Nevin Griffith, Middleton HS (Fla.) Griffith is a 6-2 righty with a thin frame that features a low 90s fastball and an often-times plus slider, with developing pitches including a curve and a change. His breaking stuff is often described as nasty, with his slider being his top pitch. His fastball hovers between 90 and 94. One of the most hyped high school pitchers in Florida, Griffith fits the bill of a projectable starter. Griffith was looked at as a possibility to be picked in the supplemental round before the second round. Griffith is currently committed to Florida International.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:59 PM) If I didn't text you, than who did I text? That's a really good question. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 06:00 PM) Time to update the draft board. If it were up to me he may have been selected in the first round. I love this pick. Good value considering many were appointing him a potential late round selection. This instantly heightens my appreciation for the draft....a little bit. This is what you need to draft in a pitcher. Even if he never amounts to much, Griffith is a pitcher with projectability and a quality arsenal. This guy is now tied to you. He needs to be in your sig, since we finally have a guy you like.
  19. Gage, way to text me our first pick.
  20. Sox up. Check out FUTURESOX.COM for your draft coverage, dammit.
  21. Owens damn well better not be our CF next year.
