  1. And we've officially lost CBS.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 01:26 AM) Never said it was monumental but still, the Valley has an over .500 record against the so called power conferences, what does that say? Iowa State is really bad? What are the best wins outside of LSU and Wisconsin?
  3. Predictions for the backup backstop?
  4. Yes. Mediacom cable and Sinclair Broadcasting (owner of KDSM Fox in Des Mones and KGAN CBS in Cedar Rapids, as well as like 20 other stations nationally) have not agreed on rates or whatever to carry the station, so Sinclair is ordering their stations pulled from Mediacom cable in these markets. Some cities far away enough from the towers can get national feeds or feeds from neighboring markets, but here, we're SOL. We've got rabbit ears to watch the Colts game tomorrow. When I head back to Ames, I won't be able to watch the NFC playoffs.
  5. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) Bahahahahahahaha! Ha! HAHahahahhahahahha! Hahahahahah! Ha! HA HA! Looks like you are gonna have to drive to the local (local=hour drive) Walmart to pick up an antenna for your tv. The cable company is handing them out for free, but it looks like a number of stations will be pulled off of Mediacom cable tonight in Illinois and Missouri too. Yeah, it'll be hilarious to any Bears fans in Des Moines that want to watch their playoff game. This also means Hawkeye games won't be on cable in most of the state.
  6. The Fox station in Des Moines and CBS station in Cedar Rapids are gonna be pulled from cable tonight unless someone steps in....which means we need an antenna to watch the playoff games....or a dish. This sucks.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) Well sir, that so called mid major had the exact same record as the big 12 in last years ncaa tournament. This season the Valley so far is 2nd in the Conference rpi where the Big 12 is 6th. The Valley is over .500 against the bcs conferences, the big 12 is not. And the Valley is 3-3 against your big 12 this year. You can call the Valley whatever you please but it certainly isn't acting like a mid major on the basketball court. The Big 12 has been bad lately. To be fair, all 3 of those wins have been over a crappy ISU team. Iowa State is probably the 11th best team in the Big 12. Ask Jay Bilas, those wins aren't monumental. Big 12 teams aren't to lose to Valley teams. That's what I believe. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 01:12 AM) Sorry Alex, but I think its hillarious you slam the Valley. They are a strong conference with some quality teams. Sure the top teams in the bigger conferences should beat these guys mosts nights, but thats not to say there aren't good teams in the Valley (of course there are and they are darn good and can beat a lot of the good schools in the power conferences, maybe not the great one's but the good and mediocre ones). First Iowa and ISU need to get past those guys before you even yap about being a final 4 team (at least this year). You are gonna lose and I don't consider a loss to Northern Iowa bad. We shouldn't have lost either game, but thats life and the Hawkeyes lost, oh well. You'd be lying though if you said the Final Four wasn't the ultimate goal of both teams. It can be done at both schools. I'm just saying at a school like Iowa State, it shouldn't be acceptable to lose to a Valley team. None of those three losses, especually in the state of Iowa, should happen again. They likely will, but iit's not acceptable to me.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) 0-3 will do that to you. LOL We have a goal to win Big 12 championships and make in to the Final Four....a goal that is attainable at Iowa State. We want to be a high major.....and in doing so we can't lose to mid-majors. I hate to be "that guy", but all three ISU losses to Valley teams this year are unacceptable.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) Guess the Valley is going to have to beat up on Iowa State even more for Heads to respect 'em. I hate the Valley, but I don't mind the George Mason's of the world. I view ISU as a high-major basketball program that is not to lose to mid-majors.
  10. You should be good to go now. We've got admin validation on, so we have to go thru and OK them.
  11. I'm....ON THE BACK OF THE CAR
  12. Just wanted to post this, as I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for this man.
  13. Top 25 teams don't lose to both UNI and Drake. I was just gonna say Drake, but the last time before this year State lost to Drake, they only lost 5 games that year.
  14. Heh, Steve Alford. Giving your superiors just enough to justify keeping you.
  15. Alex and Alex in the Afternoon.
  16. And I'm not saying they aren't right about this, but it's basically a blog of stuff they read in papers and stuff they make up.
  17. I trust MLBTradeRumors about as much as I trust my mother on rumors. Who knows how true it is. I always liked him.
  18. Last time we did this we were overrun with minor leaguers..... Name a sleeper prospect that no one's talking about....like Jack Egbert. Who's the guy to watch?
  19. This was a little idea that I had that can help burn some time and keep some action on the Pale Hose board. The plan here is to give your projection and your thoughts on members of the Sox 25 man roster. I figured we'd start with the man behind the plate, and work out from there. So how do you all think AJ will do this year? Will his average dip? Will his homers go back up? Will he get hit in the grill once more? Discuss.
  20. I like once cracked 100.
  21. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) harass away, dont forget the stutter and hair plugs. It's been far too long since we've last beat Kansas in Hilton. Should be a sellout, but the student turnout has been poor. I imagine if we can get a couple wins before that game, it'll be loud. Games @ Missouri and home against Nebraska are certainly winnable, but ISU could win or lose either game fairly easily. Iowa State has to deal with Mizzou's "40 minutes of something or other" first, though. Should be a good game on Saturday. If they can play liike they did at Ohio State, they'll win.
  22. Jimbo...I got 12th row for ISU-Kansas this year....not as good as 4th row last year....but a group of 7 of us wanted to sit together. We'll still be close enough to harass Bill Self verbally.
  23. From PhogBlog.com, which I love......
  24. Ahhh....Kreuter. All I can remember about Chuck is that he wore glasses.
