  1. Mark Buehrle has the magical gift of being able to throw a baseball apprximately 61 feet with his left hand.
  2. QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) What would I have to complain about, then? Hairy midgets who don't brush their teeth regularly?
  3. Some more, eh? 1. On a sad note, I share a common disability with one Hank Hill. Let's just say I found this out when I was 5, as I was going to the bathroom and blood came out....yeah....the next two weeks were about as fun as pissing fire. 2. My dad once had a cricket trapped in his ear. 3. I'm half Swiss. 4. I graduated at the top of my class. 5. I used to help out at WSI.
  4. It IS about time for them. [shines Soxtalk Hall of Fame medal]
  5. QUOTE(bmags @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) this article was not as informative as David Of The Same Country. Of course not.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) OMG THAT'S ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I'm the only one you've connected with.
  7. Yes he is, and I believe he's the lead guy on any talented recruits the Hawks snag, or at least, that's been said.
  8. Northern Iowa can go slip on a sidewalk.
  9. There aren't a whole lot of people here that'd call him a s***ty governor. He wasn't great, but he was decent. I take it shes a Hawkeye...
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2709496
  11. I thought he had finally grown up before this year, but I suppose I was wrong. He's the first person I've ever heard blame that goshdarn Iowa media.
  12. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) He does make some sense, there is nothing else to pay attention too. He's from a small town in Texas. He doesn't have much room to talk.
  13. 1. Despite getting into Iowa State, the only school I applied to, my number two school was the University of Iowa, followed by Northwestern. 2. The only thing gone or that has went wrong with my body is four wisdom teeth that have been removed. Still have tonsils, no broken bones. 3. I've only ever talked with three of the people that help run this site.....Aboz (Alex), Jason and Mario. I've talked with all three on the Soxtalk podcast, and I had a really awkward phone call from Jason after the Sox won the WS. 4. I've spent the last two summers working for a small-town newspaper here in Iowa (some of you know this). I'm essentially the number two sports writer behind the editor when I'm in town, and I cover lots of high school baseball and softball. 5. I was once ejected from a high school junior varsity tennis match. During a double match, my partner was playing like crap and like he didn't care. I happened to release my racket in the general direction of him. The coach was not happy, and I had to forfeit. I also got a technical foul in a middle school basketball game for unintentionally giving a kid a forearm shiver to the chest (I turned around really quick and he was behind me and I got him).
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) If Iowa lands him, I think we have a couple more top notch recruits that may come as well. Last I looked Negedu was an Iowa lean but I don't know if that changed. Didn't that happen a long long time ago? All of those schools except for UConn have offered a schollie. No one really knows where he's headed yet. Bernstein decided on the day I posted that. It was looking like UCLA was a strong possibility as of late. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) Iowa signed these 3 guys to letter of intent for bball: Dairese Gary from Concord HS in Elkhart, IN, forward Jake Kelly from Carmel HS in Carmel, IN and forward Jarryd Cole from Winnetonka HS in Kansas City, MO. Those are 07 recruits (all 3 stars). All are pretty good looking recruits that join an already strong recruiting class Alford has going. Negedu will be key though as he's an Iowa lean and one of the top recruits in the country. Our 08 class consists of two 4 star recruits that are early comitts. Will Steve Alford or Craig Neal be around in 08? They have no excuse to be as bad as they are. Neither Iowa or Iowa State should lose to Drake, but at least Iowa State lost half its roster. Haluska and Smith should be able to carry them to more wins than they have.
  15. Drew Tate has done his best to piss off numerous Iowans, saying we've got nothing up here to complain about except him..... Aside from pissing off ISU fans with that last statement, quite a few Hawkeye fans are a bit miffed by it too. Way to handle your last game with maturity.

My dad saw Ford once, golfing in Iowa City. He saw Ford hit someone with a golf ball, which apparently wasn't all that rare.
  17. QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 26, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) --I expect Thome's numbers to decline only cause he had an incredible season. --Pods I fear is finished. -- BA can't hit, folks, but he CAN field. --Uribe has talent, but must be a headcase, cause he hasn't improved. When he gets hot, he's hot. But he's a bad undisciplined hitter. I see Crede, Iguchi, Konerko, Thome, Dye, AJ being great as usual. I wish we'd play Cintron every day. Screw Uribe. Your first three can be debated, as well as that Cintron bit.
  18. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 26, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) Hey, why not? Being a Latin American scout for the White Sox is equal to a paid vacation. No one's doing any work down there far as I can tell
  19. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 26, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) So perhaps now we can all quit complimenting this "safe" draft philosophy. Williams finally realizes this cycle of trading prospects for proven veterans no longer applies to the current market. We need production from within, and what we currently had prior to the recent flux of trades wouldn't have been enough for the Royals. New approaches to sustaining success are necessary. Maybe he'll finally recognize the areas of land which exist south of Mexico, as well. Lord knows we've ignored it for over a decade. Maybe we can send you to Venezuela for a year to go scout then.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 26, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) Yeah he would. Him and Broadway project to be nothing more than 3rd-4th starters though, but I'm fairly sure they'll reach the major league level one day. Gio and Danks are possible #2 starters, with Danks probably the better prospect. So that's 4 guys I think 3-4 years from now, could all be in our rotation. And then there's likes of Floyd and Haeger and nobody really knows how they're going to project in the future. And there's Sisco as well who could be turned into a SP. Nick Masset could be turned into a starter again, Liotta could rebound, Lucas Harrell, Jack Egbert or Adam Russel could really produce down at B-Ham in 07, Richard Brooks could rebound down at Kanny etc. so all in all, there are a LOT of pitching spects in our system now who could be up the big team in a few years, and it's a good situation to be in. He was one of the best pitchers in the organization this past year. 2.94 ERA for WS in 25 starts 0.86 ERA for Birm in 4 starts I was on his bandwagon before anyone else though, so . I claim him. He's 23 though, so he needs to keep moving up.
  21. QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Dec 26, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) good points on the last few pages of posts i skimmed over, but wouldn't McCulloch be more likely to join the rotation over Liotta three years from now? Yup.
  22. Got this link from el Cheato's blog. http://www.waxahachiedailylight.com/articl...26-broadway.txt
  23. I think KW figured out he never wants to be in a Montero situation again...
  24. My brother almost threw my Wiimote through the wall. Nintendo wasn't kidding about the wriststraps.
