  1. I needed the GB win tonight, quite badly for my pool.
  2. As most of you know, Soxtalk.com maintained a front page to track the ups and downs of the team, as well as including unique Soxtalk as well as FutureSox content. We discovered as we did the work that we often ran into constraints as well as a burnout period after doing the page nightly, often times falling behind. This has led to some discussion, and we have discussed including people on our staff that would assume a responsibility of helping to maintain a front page for Soxtalk that would be updated nightly with game results, as well as working to include original content in addition to additional help and content that the current Soxtalk staff would provide. The front page is a a front door to the Soxtalk forums, and we'd like to put out a positive image. We are looking for someone (or possibly numerous people) that are: • Dependable • Trustworthy • HTML-capable (HTML literacy not required, but would greatly help) • Able to update in a timely manner • Able to write in an easily-understandable manner We are looking for someone to help expand the reach of the site by offering content that is unique to the Soxtalk experience. The front page would be a complement to the forums, and would not equate to moderator status on the forums unless we determined as a staff that anyone that joins the staff should come aboard. It's really a unique opportunity to display writing and web publishing skills while covering the Sox. Anyone interested should send an e-mail to me at: alex {at} futuresox dot com (typed out to prevent spam) We'll look at people interested, and will likely look for writing samples to determine worthiness. If there are any questions, feel free to ask here. We're a fun group, but we're looking for someone who will take this opportunity seriously. Thanks, Alex EDIT: This would not be in any way a paid position.
  3. It'll be under "My Controls" and then go to "Board Settings" on the left side.
  4. Get a Mac?
  5. They look like Create-a-Team jerseys.
  6. When I want Gage I get him. I wanted you to screw with him.
  7. I believe a few years ago Iowa State wanted to set up a home and home with Duke, but, no dice, Duke wouldn't come to Ames.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 21, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) lol ya, you're the one who wanted to talk to gage and you wanted me to text him, explain that one? I have no problem talking to Gage. It's all on you, bud.
  9. I'd give Row the cojones to man up and say hi to Gage.
  10. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Dec 21, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) \As Republican pollster Glen Bolger told us months ago, when Republicans have a cold nationally, Iowa Republicans usually have the flu. True. Iowa Republicans got destroyed this year.

    I hear that.
  12. I told him to send one to Gage.

Her profile says she was on yesterday....so I'm guessing...she was on yesterday.
  14. I got the Chiefs. I can live with that.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 20, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) Then why do you keep following Iowa State? Cause it's a school that could actually have the resources to win it all in this day and age.....
  16. Good luck to him.
  17. I really don't care for midmajors. That is all.
  18. He's getting rather old and rickety....
  19. Sampson has Eduardo Najera off the top of my head.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 20, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) Dems are having a hard time deciding on a spot for the 2008 convention - Denver or New York. Given that Colorado and the mountain west generally are the new frontier for the Dems, and NY is either a given for the Dems or a given for Giuliani, I think Denver is the better choice for them. Plus after the GOP had it in the Big Apple in 2004, it seems like the Dems are just following them around. They should do it in Des Moines and get back a state that should be blue.
  21. QUOTE(danman31 @ Dec 20, 2006 -> 03:07 AM) Tech and Kansas State? Are you serious? K State is a different team with Walker, but Tech?! Tech has won at Arkansas and lost at Stanford as well as a couple top 25 road losses. They've proven as much as Mizzou to this point, I doubt they are a better team. I would have agreed with Baylor earlier, but the Bears have struggled so far this year. ISU and OU are horrible. How can you put OU ahead of OSU? It's also a conveniently biased list as you have K State lower than they probably belong as well. KU #1, MU and KSU very low. Good to know you think with a clear head. Geez, Mizzou almost (and should have if they could grab a clutch rebound) beat Illinois and they are getting hated on. I don't mean to claim a moral victory, but Mizzou is probably a bubble team come the end of the year. It's nice to have Big 12 discussion in this thread...... As long as Knight is coaching at Tech, they are an upper division team in the conference to me. They have the best player in the conference. As far as Mizzou, they are a wait and see team to me. They haven't sustained any real success since the Big 8 days when they were unstoppable. I'll go on the record to say Mizzou will do no better than split against Iowa State this year. Mizzou will have to prove it to me.They've been bad for far too long. Fortunately, they play Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa State twice this year, so that's likely 5-6 wins that will go in their back pocket, as I do think they are better than all three of those teams. Throw in a likely win against OU, a win or two out of the four games with the two Kansas schools, and win in games against Baylor or Tech, and they have a .500 conference record. The fact that they were beat by a good margin in their only road game doesn't suggest overwhelming success in the conference. Also, their arena is named after a girl, or at least it was.
  22. Brownback has no shot in Iowa anyways. I think Romney may do well in the state, however.
  23. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Krazy Kwanzaa, solemn Ramadan and a tip-top Tet.
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 19, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) IIRC, until the last few months of the campaign kicked into gear in 04, the leaders in Iowa were Gephardt and Lieberman, mainly because those were the guys that people had experience with due to Joe running in 00 and Gephardt being from the state. Edwards just polls well for now because of leftover from 04. He may hold onto that lead, but right now, I don't put any stock in that. Gephardt's from Mizzou. I agree with you, but I could see either him or Obama or Clinton, and not really anyone else. BTW, Vilsack is expected to get crushed unless things changed.
