  1. One last ST tuneup for me. Couple more for the Sox.
  2. I think they forgot Iowa's epic start to the season with that almost-win against Texas.
  3. I was urged to start this now for some reason, despite the fact that there are a few ST games left. Anywho, if you're not familiar with our game threads, use it to follow the action during the game. Also feel free to use our Live Chat, which is linked on the front page or at the top of this page. The action comes fast and furious in both, but if you're new, it's also a quick way to get into posting. For your convience, the "Fast Reply" works just about as well as anything when responding in this thread. For anyone new, don't hesitate to ask any questions about anything. We're just as pumped about a title defense as anyone else. I'm carrying in a decent performance from starting these last year.....hopefully it continues.
  4. QUOTE(TLAK @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 06:59 AM) Thinking down the road. If Pods were out or ineffective for a period of time because of bad wheels, I think the guy in the organization who is best equiped to take over his role is Jerry Owens. I'll agree. Owens is Pods Light. Still don't think he's ready, nor is there a place for him anytime soon. Sweeney may have leapfrogged him in some people's eyes this spring.
  5. Yay, ISU Daily reports Cory Johnson reconfirms that he's coming to ISU, and it sounds like Lawerence Westbrook is gonna do the same. Two pretty prolific scorers. Johnson is like top 5 in Minnesota history, and Westbrook averaged over 40 points a game as a junior. Hopefully prep school taught him how to pass. I'm thinking Johnson may end up being Greg Brunner with much better hair.
  6. I've noticed that too.....EA just has never put the hard work into March Madness that they do their other games.
  7. I wonder if Iowa can match that third place in the state of Iowa next year.

I thought that the deal was that kids were....you know.....when they did this because it felt better. I wasn't aware people choked themselves for fun these days.
  9. I meant in regards to recruiting. Our ass has been kicked. But it's cool to see a stretch where 28 out of 34 national championships were in the state of Iowa.
  10. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) Quit dissin' the Oelwein Institute of Technology like that. It's closer to Stanley/Aurora than anyplace else. I'm impressed that you spelled it right. Most can't.
  11. Iowa still needs to pass ISU. Then again, ISU doesn't focus as much in state as of late. Let's see if State's #1 recruiting class can actually produce. The team's been a letdown lately and the class didn't produce right away. I'm pretty damn sure at least one member is transferring to Arizona State....I have class with him and talk with him some.....but it'll be cool if Iowa and Iowa State could duke it out for #1 and #2 again. I'll admit it though....Iowa's history is a .bit. better. 1928 Oklahoma St. 1929 Oklahoma St. 1930 Oklahoma St. 1931 Oklahoma St. 1932 Indiana 1933 Iowa St. Oklahoma St. 1934 Oklahoma St. 1935 Oklahoma St. 1936 Oklahoma 1937 Oklahoma St. 1938 Oklahoma St. 1939 Oklahoma St. 1940 Oklahoma St. 1941 Oklahoma St. 1942 Oklahoma St. 1946 Oklahoma St. 1947 Cornell College 1948 Oklahoma St. 1949 Oklahoma St. 1950 Northern Iowa 1951 Oklahoma 1952 Oklahoma 1953 Penn St. 1954 Oklahoma St. 1955 Oklahoma St. 1956 Oklahoma St. 1957 Oklahoma 1958 Oklahoma St. 1959 Oklahoma St. 1960 Oklahoma 1961 Oklahoma St. 1962 Oklahoma St. 1963 Oklahoma 1964 Oklahoma St. 1965 Iowa St. 1966 Oklahoma St. 1967 Michigan St. 1968 Oklahoma St. 1969 Iowa St. 1970 Iowa St. 1971 Oklahoma St. 1972 Iowa St. 1973 Iowa St. 1974 Oklahoma 1975 Iowa 1976 Iowa 1977 Iowa St. 1978 Iowa 1979 Iowa 1980 Iowa 1981 Iowa 1982 Iowa 1983 Iowa 1984 Iowa 1985 Iowa 1986 Iowa 1987 Iowa St. 1988 Arizona St. 1989 Oklahoma St. 1990 Oklahoma St. 1991 Iowa 1992 Iowa 1993 Iowa 1994 Oklahoma St. 1995 Iowa 1996 Iowa 1997 Iowa 1998 Iowa 1999 Iowa 2000 Iowa 2001 Minnesota 2002 Minnesota 2003 Oklahoma St. 2004 Oklahoma St. 2005 Oklahoma St.

    Rock. Dirty Jobs or Mythbusters?
  13. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) Pujols expected to anchor Card lineup Hunter establishing himself in center Royals SUCK Thanks for the update. Heh. "Buehrle expected to seize starting spot; Cooper thinks there is potential"
  14. Possibly going in June.
  15. Sanderson was annointed the next coach by Pollard a few weeks ago....stating something to the effect of "we won't let him leave Ames"
  16. CycloneFanatic.com reports that Douglas stepped down all of a sudden. I'd like Steve to chime in, but he's been an awesome recruiter and it shouldn't hurt the program.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) Floyd was a better hire than Sampson. Call me crazy, but Floyd coached and suceeded at every stop of the way including a non powerhouse like ISU. He is now at USC and so far has done an oustanding job recruiting and he's a very good collegiate X's and O's guy. To make things better USC finally got there own arena on campus (opened up late this past season). I expect them to become a power in the Pac 10 (along with UCLA, Washington and Arizona). We were a powerhouse for a year there. Finished ranked third in 2000.
  18. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) Who the hell is Palo Orlando? I hope he has Tony Orlando's stache.
  19. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) Never pay for a woman's attention. At the very least, make sure they reciprocate. My dad and I went to the liquor store and then we had a get together/bonfire/campout with a bunch of people at my uncles.
  20. Talking George Mason.
  21. Or not times infinity. Plus two.
  22. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) And our team beat you guys, and won a national title last year. Trust me, the level of play is much different (yes, i've been to many games and have played the game my whole life). If our ACHA team played michigan, for example, they'd get beat in convincing fashion. Strange question, but are the hockey players at Illinois as freakin strange as they are here?
  23. I remember when it was in Ames. Why the f*** would someone put it in Ames?
  24. Our team won 30 games but we aren't an NCAA team. 32-6-2....
  25. Happy BDay!
