  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) There's also a good chance they miss out completely due to not having a championship game. Based on? I think they're closer to having 2 than they have 0.
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) Would the Big 12 invite BYU as a football-only member? That might work out well for both parties. All the other sports don't really need more members and don't need long trips to Provo. No Any new school would have to be worth something like 30 million a year. Expansion only happens if ESPN/FOX say it has to, or if they playoff makes it necessary. Since the Big 12 is the closest to having two teams in the playoffs, I think they aren't in any rush.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) Hopefully the Big 12 realizes they need to expand to 12. BYU should obviously be the top candidate. Not really sure after that. Central Florida is way out of the footprint but otherwise makes sense, and West Virginia is in there anyways. UCONN is way way out of the footprint. Cincinnati is quality but it's a city school in Ohio. Doesn't exactly match what they're going for. Still probably the best option after BYU. Don't need to. Will only expand if another school adds revenue to everyone else. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 09:56 AM) What about Houston? No QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 09:57 AM) I've heard SMU as a logical choice though it wouldnt be for their football team at the moment. Double no --- Bowlsby has said that he sees no possible candidates, short of a school coming back.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 07:30 PM) Baylor plays KState and TCU plays Iowa State. I wonder how much the final season game TCU plays will hurt them (this of course is making the assumption that both of those teams win). You also have to look at someone like OSU and whether they could leapfrog TCU with a big win. HEY I TAKE OFFENSE TO THAT WE BEAT A DAMN GOOD IOWA TEAM
  5. Woo, Musberger goes from the Iron Bowl to Ames, Iowa! He's doing Arkansas-ISU tomorrow night in what should be a track meet.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 08:12 PM) Figured you'd like that. I just want to imagine that the Cyclone team that showed up against Maryland was a mirage and that we will roll over #18 Arkansas.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 12:30 PM) Yup, you guys definitely deserve to be in the top 25 at this point so congrats. Northern Iowa sitting with the most votes out of the top 25 at the moment, hopefully they'll sneak their way in there next week, it'd be nice to have 2 valley teams ranked again. No
  8. I do believe that Mizzou has won as many division titles in the SEC as they did in the Big 12.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 09:41 PM) It's not like that star player is selling many tickets anyway. Not that he is, but I still think you lose people just based on the fact that trading him would show you're not intending to compete.

Where do you get your favorite fast food burger? What do you get on your burger? How do you grill your burger?
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 11:22 PM) Maryland just got a pretty big win. (Sorry Heads and NSS) Remember Maryland is in the Big Ten now? Isn't that why Delaney brought them on? Second worst performance of the a Hoiberg era. Maryland has some ballers.
  12. Heads22 replied to hi8is's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Have fun selling tickets or trying to convince fans that you care about winning if you trade your star player when you absolutely don't have to.
  13. We are spending a bit too much money to end up with Juan f***ing Diaz as our shortstop, Phil.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 04:46 PM) Considering the pieces they are missing, that was impressive. They get two guys back now, and their center in December. I do wish they scheduled one or two stronger OOC teams than they did though. No one on their OOC schedule looks to be ranked at this point. Alabama up next on Monday. ESPN2. Monte Morris is never coming off the floor again, either. Nice thing is I think only like three more games aren't on national TV for the rest of the year.
  15. We want our bullpen to be upgraded, but we don't want to spend money to do it. Sweet. I'm not sure how people want Rick to address our pen issues.
  16. TCU not particularly interested in making the playoff.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 15, 2014 -> 12:14 PM) Iowa's offensive play calling seems like it's from 1930. There's a reason that they lost to Iowa State.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 03:46 PM) I"m pretty excited for Mizzou this year. There are no real expectations since they are so young, so I get to just sit back and relax. But, obviously, would like to see progression as the year goes on. Well then.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 08:02 AM) I only ever went when I was a student, and they had a special program for that. It worked like this: --You (and your group usually) applied for the ticket lottery --If you "won" (most years, most got in, but not all), each person in the group got a punch card with boxes for each game --You got every Big 8 (became Big 12 at end) home game, a few key OOC games (always in-state rivals), and a random selection of like 2 other games. --The games were split into four groups - for two of them you'd be UD student section, one LD student section, one behind the baskets courtside. So you'd get like 3-4 games in each grouping --The whole punch card cost about $100 Is there still a student ticket thing like that now? They just straight up sell them now, though they do oversell. The Kansas game has a seperate ticket pickup which is first come first serve.
  20. I'd sell off Sanchez to anyone who thinks he could be more than a defensive bench player.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 08:30 AM) I'll be here as the other Cyclone, helping hold up the flag this season. It's been a bunch of years since Iowa State went into the season ranked this high. Let me know if you want my login for Cyclones.tv. There's only five games this year where there are even single-game tickets available for purchase. This is also the first year that you are required to donate $5,000 a year for the right to purchase season tickets in the lower bowl. I'm not used to this big-time program stuff. Just remember that we won by like 67 last week without three guys that will all play a lot this year. Nader has supposedly been one of the best in practice so far this year, and McKay might start. Looking forward to scoring 100+ multiple times this year.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 10:38 AM) He also had attitude issues. I think he is a good bounce back candidate and you can likely get him cheap, along with cash. Fits in nicely in our order too and I expect him to be closer to the player he was with a change of scenery but that is just my presumption. We've been agreeing too much lately. What are the attitude issues?
  23. Two days til Hoiball! Get ready for Iowa State to be one of your favorite power conference teams to watch.
  24. Do we think Ethier's last year is an aberration or a trend? I don't mind how he fits in our lineup.
