Rienzo Called Up, Tekotte down
Rienzo has since deleted the tweets that say he has no clue what has going on. So, now, no one has any clue what is going on.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:14 PM) It's pretty big now, in a seller's market, for the playoff stretch run. In the offseason he will be under team control for less time then he is now, while there will also be free agent options and other trade options. You also are banking on him pitching well for the rest of this season and not hurting himself. Peavy is gone before tomorrow's start. Just brainstorming and looking at one of the couple of benefits of keeping him. Of course, you could also argue that we could either command more talent because it won't cost as much to pay him or less talent because they have him under control for less time. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:16 PM) Hahaha Hahn is mindf***ing Cherington Don't you realize we are even lucky to negotiate with the Red Sox?

On the other hand, the pool of possible suitors could increase in the offseason.

Rick - wait til I'm off work today to make a deal. For some reason, I don't believe money is that big of a hold up, and if it is, I think it'd be the area we're more likely to be flexible than the talent we want back.

Sox/Royals
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:44 PM) I'd rather we keep losing but f***ing look better on the field and stop losing games by looking like morons. I can handle bad baseball. I can't handle stupid baseball.

Sox/Royals
We'll see if a 1-0 deficit against Bruce Chen holds up.

Baseball is still happening. Sort of.

Jesse Crain dealt to Tampa Bay
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:28 PM) It's a horrible question. Do we have three young starters all exceeded anyones wildest expectations for each of them? Does he still have an amazing track record? Did he really make a guy from the Windy City Thunderbolts look competent in MLB for a couple months? Holy s***! The case for Cooper has never been stronger. Chris Sale: Cy Young caliber pitcher Jake Peavy: Most sought after pitcher in market Jose Quintana: 5-3 with a 3.55 ERA. He was in A-Ball two years ago. Double-A last year. Hector Santiago: 3.38 ERA despite us jerking him around. A-Ball three years ago. .221 BAA

GT 7/26: Yes, Peavy and Rios are still on the team
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:07 PM) I agree to disagree. With his injury history, he makes a ton of money. Isn't he guaranteed something like 15 mill next season? Or I'm I wrong about that? Again, it's not like we have to move him. His salary will not hamstring us. I would imagine Hahn is approaching negotiations that way. I seriously doubt the salary is an albatross - rather, it's acting as an incentive to other teams that you'll get him for a year and a half.

I tend to think any cash sent with Peavy would be limited. He doesn't have to be dumped.

QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 08:03 PM) I didn't see the start of the game but, they normally use Mike Huff as a fill in when Steve is out. Kalapse is back and now you. I'm not sure how to react to this.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Yep, that would be a salary dump more than a trade to try and better the franchise. And it doesn't seem like it'd take advantage of Peavy's value. I think he's got more value solo than in a package.

Like someone else said earlier, you look at that ESPN Boston story and they make it sound like they've got Mantle, Mays and Koufax in the system, and we should just be blessed to be acknowledged by Cherington.

Trade Deadline 2013
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) (Just to note...that reclamation project could easily be "Gavin Floyd". He's shown every sign he likes it in Chicago, he might well be able to give a few innings in the 2nd half or late in the season next year, and he won't be in anyone's way to start the year). I also think they have some insurance for Johnson and Santiago already developing in the form of Rienzo, Snodgress, and maybe Axelrod if they can get him confortable in the swingman role. While it'd be foolish to count on anything at all from him, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him turn back up in our organization after his arm gets replaced.

Tigers vs. White Sox 7/24/2013
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 08:47 PM) If we were good, or had a real shortage of pitching, or John at his best had a chance to really outperform the contract by a lot, I'd have no problem holding on to him. But this is like gambling $100 on the Bears -3 for the very outside chance of winning $125, when someone is offering to give you your $100 back after the Packers go up 14-0. Oh, I'd be in favor of letting him go for very cheap.

Tigers vs. White Sox 7/24/2013
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 08:38 PM) No it isn't. It's about having him suffer a major injury after signing the contract and having the team suck now. If you knew those to things were going to happen, would you have given him that contract? Ha, I know what point I'm trying to make, but I can't figure out how to articulate it. I guess I don't think we'll know what we've got in Danks til next year at this time.
-
Tigers vs. White Sox 7/24/2013
I think the argument is if you think Danks was overpaid before the injury, really. I agree with Jake, the real Danks will probably be the one that pitches next year, after normal offseason workouts and whatnot.

I'd be SHOCKED if we don't put a former Sox in the booth because that's how we do things around here.

7-22 GT- Tigers vs Sox
@SouthSideSox: It's like the Sox think I'm going to warm up to Ramon Troncoso once I get used to him. YOU'RE NOT MY REAL DAD.
