  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) Ha, I was just coming in here to ask if you're enjoying the strong play of Jake Anderson. It's still beyond me why we basically asked him to leave the program and find somewhere else to play for his 5th and final year, but i'm glad he's having success somewhere else. He was a good player the 3 years we had him on the court, but our inept coaches never really used him properly (he's a very unique player, plays a lot bigger than his height as you've seen) and the only reason I'm not really pissed Jake is gone is the team absoulutely sucked the 3 years we had him anyways. I hope Iowa State has a good year though, he deserves to be seen and playing on a good team, very nice kid. Drops 14, 7 and 4 in a 91-51 win over a Kennesaw State team that fathom had me thinking could compete in the ACC.
  2. And Chaminade takes down Oklahoma.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) I'm pretty sure same information came from Michigan State about his practice ability, yet it never translated over to the games. Ah, well, I'll keep dreaming. Hopefully we can handle Kennesaw State tomorrow.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) I hate watching Chris Allen. Does so many things poorly on the court. He's like the exact opposite player that D. Anderson is for you guys now. Was told he's our most impressive practice player.
  5. I hope it's because they are missing Chris Allen.
  6. My auto correct changed "I want her titties in my face" to "I want her tortillas in my face" - I would have been fine with either.

I liked Kid Cudi's Man On the Moon better than MOTM II, though here's my personal favorites from the new release: Scott Mescudi vs. the World, REVOFEV, Erase Me, Maniac, Trapped in My Mind. Similar to the first Man on the Moon, you have to listen all the way through, and your tastes as far as the "best" song will probably change over time. There was so much good stuff on the first Man on the Moon that was hard for me to top. Songs like Soundtrack 2 My Life, Heart of a Lion, Day n Nite, Cudi Zone, Man on the Moon and Up Up & Away - made it real easy to listen to. Also, had never listened to Girl Talk until this album, must say I like it.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 12:20 AM) NIU is my second favorite college team (going to Mizzou next year, so it takes top spot, but both parents went to NIU and it was my fall back school). I was at the NIU - U of I game and NIU almost won that game, so I think they could beat U of I in a bowl game. If only they had a bigger stadium, the Big 12 might ask for them to join. Eh, not so much.
  9. Now reports he hasn't quit. Though, I wish nothing but the worst for Nebraska.
  10. Sounds like Taylor Martinez might have quit Nebraska. COME TO IOWA STATE --- All I saw was the end of Nebraska-aTm. The Aggie War Hymn looks cool as f***. Also hoping NIU can keep winning, they seemed like a class act in Ames. Also, we may very well be a destination for Martinez, if he did quit, as his dad played at ISU, and he was an ISU fan growing up - wanted an offer from us, but we didn't do so since he can't throw (still can't).
  11. Vanderbeken's 3 was after the buzzer, but they had no replay available at the arena (despite the replay they showed on the scoreboard, somehow). Anyways, Creighton was up 51-39, and Iowa State just manned up. That's the grittiest effort I've seen out of an ISU team in a long time. And, after every game, I'll likely thank Northern Illinois for Jake Anderson. 19 and 15 as a 6-2 guard. Bobby Lutz is a hell of a coach.
  12. Going to Iowa State - Creighton tomorrow. Hope we beat the s*** out of McDermott.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 07:31 AM) I agree, Freddy is going to be a very good coach. He's a smart guy, and he is a guy who just knows the game at a level that other ex-players don't. I also like his approach so far. I'm psyched for this new era to begin at Iowa State. I still remember Freddy making me look stupid on the court way back when, but also, I remember how great a guy he was. I'd root for any ISU coach, but having known Freddy personally, I'm really getting back into the team this year. It's very much like the Orr-Hallihan dynamic. Lutz does most of the coaching, like Hallihan did. Hoiberg's more of the figurehead.
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 12:08 AM) Hey! The Big 12 is loaded this year. Four teams in the top 20 of both polls and Texas isn't one of them (because Texas is almost always overrated). Final score of Mizzou - Iowa State this year might be the Tigers winning by a 150-130 margin.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 10:38 PM) Heh, fair enough(once again, you were right about him, I was wrong), wasn't trying to take anything away from the Clones, just stating how absolutely horrid the Valley is this season. Drake looks real bad.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) The Valley sucks this season. WSU can play with the majority of the teams in the country but after that you have Missouri State who is solid but not spectacular and then you have pretty much garbage and the bottom half of the league is about as bad as I can ever remember it. It's awful. Under McDermott, we win that game 64-44.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 08:37 PM) I have a feeling Drake is going to beat Iowa State tonight...NOT! Not only is Hoiberg going to be a great coach, but Lutz was the perfect hire as his assistant. Feels great to completely s***pound a Valley team for the first time in a long time. Final was Iowa State 91, Drake 43 and it wasn't that close. It was 77-28 at one point. Iowa State could be real dangerous next year with Royce White, Chris Allen, Anthony Booker, Chris Babb and Scott Christopherson. And yes, Lutz was a major coup.
  18. Ha, wow fathom. Should my Clones be scared of Kennesaw?
  19. Also, ha, Iowa loses at home to South Dakota State.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 13, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Hoiberg wins his coaching debut despite being a few players short and with a nothing roster of talent. Still probably going to be an ugly season for the Cyclones, though. He'll need a few years to get that program back to strength. Interesting to compare how ISU is doing against McDermott so far. ISU vs. Northern Arizona (Fri.), W 78-64 CU vs. Northern Arizona (Sun.), W 74-70 ISU vs. Alabama State (Sun.), W 74-47 CU vs. Alabama State (Fri.), W 71-57 The Iowa State - Creighton game on the 21st should be chippy. McDermott will probably get cheered, but I'd prefer he gets booed unmercifully for the attempted destruction of Iowa State basketball. On a side note, thanks NIU for Jake Anderson. He's just a damn ballplayer. Don't know if ISU will win more than a dozen games this year, but they'll take out someone they shouldn't. Infinitely more enjoyable to watch than last year.
  21. At one of their last football games, ISU MBB had three top 50 recruits....and I was told we lead for all three.
  22. QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) Good. f*** Royce White. He's been out of trouble since arriving in Ames.
  23. Royce White denied eligibility for ISU this year. We could really use him, and I guess we're still appealing, which won't likely do much. We're gonna be bad, but at least we should still be fun to watch. In their 100-50 exhibition win, Hoiberg said he called no plays. I guess we're just letting them play.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 09:35 AM) Ya, ISU faked the extra point and had the holder throw a pass, which was intercepted. I was shaking my head at the play because I just didn't agree with the call. Evidently they didn't feel they confident in there chances of winning regularly in OT so opted to take one shot on a 2 point conversion for the win. It still hurts. We hold on and win, and we have first place all alone to ourselves in the North with games against Colorado and Mizzou left.
