  1. So, Jake Anderson is decent.
  2. Steven Sipple of the Lincoln paper says Cody Green will start.
  3. QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) If you beat Nebraska I might run down to Ames on foot to thank every Iowa State fan I see. There was a post on Rock M Nation about the final Nebraska game and what it means to lose them as a rival, etc. This is my favorite part that a lot of people on here will come to realize is 100% dead on: Martinez starting might be the best thing for us. He WON'T be 100%, and they may not be able to run him as much as they'd like. Not that they aren't still substantially better than us, no matter who's at QB. But if we can try to force them to pass to beat us, we have a chance. Iowa St. is 9th nationally in turnover margin, 9th in interceptions, 37th in fumble recoveries, 39th in RZ defense and 11th in total turnovers gained. Nebraska will outgain us, but it comes down to ISU forcing turnovers. Absolute best thing that could happen is Nebraska turning it over on the first drive and go "not again". We beat Texas by forcing Garrett Gilbert to try and beat us with his arm and we have linebackers, cornerbacks and safeties that could go up and get it. We'll probably lose by 50, but as an Iowa State fan, we don't get to enjoy relevance this late in the season, so I better make it count.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 3, 2010 -> 11:11 AM) I read to the contrary on ESPN. The only difference is that Iowa may have minor restrictions, like a minor reduction in hours or something. Or it may have nothing.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) Which is as good as nothing. no sanctions makes me happy. Well, the Des Moines Register said there has been no decision on any punishment yet, though initially, Iowa was told none of the players involved would be able to play at Iowa.

    One year deal.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) Even going 1-2 should net ISU a bowl game, finishing at 6-6. 7-5 would be fantastic. 8-4 would be absurd. Rhoads seems to have done a lot with a little in his couple years in Ames, I'm fairly impressed. I think he's gotten his teams to play above their talent level. Didn't think I'd see the day when Iowa State would line up against Texas and be undoubtedly the better team.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) And NCAA says no problem to Iowa's actions. No, they said they were violations of a secondary nature.
  9. Iowa State may still get an eligible Royce White this year. Also had 3 top 50 recruits on campus on Saturday...
  10. Naturally, Iowa State still controls its destiny in the Big 12 North as we roll into game ten of the season. All Iowa State needs to do is win two home games and at Colorado, and they go to the final Big 12 Championship game. Maybe we'll get lucky and get to face Zac Lee again. Seriously though, if Iowa State can go 2-1 the rest of the year (a win over Colorado, and a split of Mizzou/Nebraska in Ames), how long til Paul Rhoads is mentioned for bigger and better jobs? EDIT: And, now, apparently, Taylor Martinez went from being probable against ISU to having a "shot" to play against ISU, according to Pelini. We are his dad's alma mater, after all, so I guess he really wants to play.
  11. Iowa recruiting violations? Ha.
  12. Yup, that kid at Notre Dame died doing the same thing I do.....
  13. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) I can't believe we haven't seen Heads mention the ISU win over Texas. That has to be the biggest win they've had in years. Yup, and I was there for all of it. With games against Kansas and Colorado left, there's no excuse not to go bowling again.
  14. Hopefully they sink back to the bottom of the Big 12.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 07:50 AM) So, which BCS major conference university do you work for these days? Seriously, as an ISU fan, it's not relevant to me.
  16. Tonights 30 for 30 was pretty damn good.
  17. True, but they won't have guarantee games against Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado and Missouri anymore. Instead, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Northwestern. That Iowa series should be legit.
  18. Time to find out just how good Utah is...might just be better than Iowa.
  19. So, yeah, beating Texas Tech this year was infinitely more enjoyable than winning in Lincoln last year.
  20. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Oct 2, 2010 -> 09:36 PM) Good game Heads. Positive side is that your guys hopefully got this clown coaching staff sent packing. Not sure how that happened, but I drank my f***in balls off after.
  21. I didn't realize .266 qualified as not hitting.
  22. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) You think that's tough? Try vs Oregon, vs Florida, @LSU, @Georgia, vs Alabama, @South Carolina as a stretch of 5 out of 6 games (with only UAB in there b/t FLA and LSU). Of all years for Tennessee to be down, we have to play that schedule. I don't think there's a harder stretch in the country. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 06:49 PM) Haha yeah. I wasn't really arguing that Missouri has a tough schedule. I just referenced them because I'm familiar with the schedule. Most BCS teams will have a tough stretch to some degree and that's my point. It's not one game that defines a season. It's the ability to go through a brutal portion of the schedule and come through unscathed. That's what makes the SEC what it is. Even national champs haven't made it through undefeated. Texas Tech, Utah, @ Oklahoma, @ Texas, Kansas, Nebraska Kansas doesn't really qualify, but the other 5 are pretty tough.... QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Boise St and BYU should join the Pac 10. No chance, whatsoever, that this would EVER happen.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 12:21 AM) The Cardinals fans think they are still in it and aren't they six out? Damn, we may have a better chance of WC than division. I think that's gonna be over soon. They win all four vs. KC and we're hosed. You're such an odd mix of positive thoughts and unfettered pessimism.
