  1. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 11:05 PM) thank you. Anyone who advocates releasing either one has zero clue about baseball or how business is done, or about showing any damn class/respect as an organization.
  2. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) I hope KW mans up and cuts Contreras, Linebrink. Those 2 have lost over 20 games for this team.. (in the past 2 months) No better way to display class as an organization than to cut two guys who have pitched through injuries.
  3. I love how we don't even know if anything has happened, yet, people are still complaining.
  4. How many of those guys had elbow tightness not because of pitching, but because of a batted ball?
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 09:01 PM) You know what's worse business? Not doing what's best for the long term interest of the franchise just because a mediocre division is keeping you close in the race. Now, we're not in the playoffs and are going to get nothing but hit or miss draft picks or nothing trade packages for our veterans who have collapse down the stretch. I don't see how it could have been good for financial support of the franchise selling off when you're only 1 or 2 games back.
  6. Poreda has an ERA of 8.10 in AAA.
  7. FWIW, Dex has let up 17 runs in the same amount of time it's taken him to get 7 outs.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 09:21 PM) I'm beginning to wonder more and more ... why didn't we wait until the offseason to acquire this guy? Hindsight is 20/20, armchair quarterbacking sucks, but how did this help our team THIS YEAR? It didn't except get rid of two possible contributing pitchers for THIS SEASON. It was a trade more for next year and KW said as much.

  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) Just turned 22, 2 days ago. I'm slightly older than Row, but 22.
  12. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 12:34 PM) Thanks. Even if the rosters didn't expand in seven days, Jose is off the payroll in a month and a half. DFAing him right now would be absolutely pointless. You don't DFA players to "send a message." Especially a player who worked his ass off this past winter to come back early from a career-threatening injury. Once you go down that road, say goodbye to ever being able to trade for a Jim Thome or Jake Peavy again. Those guys will want no part of an organization that treats its players like garbage, and will reject trades to the Sox faster than you can say "no-trade clause." Part of why I fully expect Wise to be activated on Sept 1. They put him on the DL so he could stay with the team through the rest of the year.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 06:59 AM) I'm not even happy with this move. It just shows me that they don't even have the balls to flat-out cut his ass off of the team. They wouldn't release him. No one would sign him for the rest of the season anyways, and the rosters expand soon enough as it is.

  15. Mainly Swiss and German, with a touch of et cetera.
  16. I like how this website swings like a pendulum on Contreras, praising him for his hard work ethic and busting his ass to be successful to ripping him for not looking like he wants to win.
  17. Let's get to 1.5 back today.
  18. QUOTE (Tel Aviv @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 07:48 PM) oh Poreda as a starter is perfectly horrible. Barely touches 94; less movement than advertised; and not much to speak of in terms of off-speed arsenal. So I ask: where's our Lirianoski? Jose Contreras?

    So, now that I'm coherent. A close friend turned 21 last night, so we're having a party at another friend's apartment. I got my foot run over by a f***in wheelchair by two guys who thought they could get into the keg for free if one pushed the other guy around in the wheelchair while pretending he had Down's Syndrome. The sad part was it was a free keg.

    QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) There seriously needs to be a "Not drunk, Just Drinking" thread in here. A place to share thoughts over/about the evening's libations that lead to contentment but not capacity. I cracked into a 2000 vintage Sierra Bigfoot that has been quietly mellowing in the cupboard for ages. Still a big beer, but the mouthfeel is so malt-dominated compared to the in-your-face hoppiness of a young Bigfoot. I have at least one bottle tucked away from each year from 2000 until now. Maybe when the 2010 release comes out in February I'll have a 10-year side-by-side tasting. See? That's really boring drunk talk, but it's great drinking talk. You don';t know how much I wish I could appreciate whatever the f*** your talking abotul. looooove yooooooou.

  23. With Dye, I think people just realize he's starting to get older and are waiting for that dropoff.
  24. Still one of the prettiest swings ever.
  25. Five of six against the leaders of the other two divisions. That's hawt.
